Interleukin-4 (IL-4), which is traditionally associated with inflammation, has emerged as a key player in tissue regeneration. Produced primarily by T-helper 2 (Th2) and other immune cells, IL-4 activates endogenous lymphocytes and promotes M2 macrophage polarization, both of which are crucial for tissue repair. Moreover, IL-4 stimulates the proliferation and differentiation of various cell types, contributing to efficient tissue regeneration, and shows promise for promoting tissue regeneration after injury.

Endothelial dysfunction (ED) serves as the pathological basis for various cardiovascular diseases. Guanosine triphosphate cyclopyrrolone 1 (GCH1) emerges as a pivotal protein in sustaining nitric oxide (NO) production within endothelial cells, yet it undergoes degradation under oxidative stress, contributing to endothelial cell dysfunction. Citronellal (CT), a monoterpenoid, has been shown to ameliorate endothelial dysfunction induced by in atherosclerosis rats.

Endo-1,4-β-xylanase is a key xylanolytic enzyme, and our study aimed to enhance the catalytic properties of Alteromones Macleadii xylanase (Xyn ZT-2) through sequence-guided design approach. Analysis of the amino acid sequence revealed highly conserved residues near the active site, with few differences. Introducing various mutations allowed us to modify the enzyme's catalytic performance.

The hypoxia-inducing factor (HIF) is a central transcription factor in cellular oxygen sensing and regulation. It is common that the inflammation always appears in many diseases, like infectious diseases in fishes, and the inflammation is often accompanied by hypoxia, as a hallmark of inflammation. Besides coordinating cellular responses to low oxygen, HIF-mediated hypoxia signaling pathway is also crucial for immune responses such as the regulations of innate immune cell phenotype and function, as well as metabolic reprogramming under the inflammation.

Prostaglandin-endoperoxide synthase 2 (PTGS2), a crucial enzyme in prostaglandin synthesis, catalyzes the conversion of arachidonic acid to prostaglandins and plays a significant role in the inflammatory response. This investigation aimed to determine the regulatory role of PTGS2a in the innate immune response to bacterial infection in fish. To achieve this objective, the CcPTGS2a gene was identified and characterized in common carp (Cyprinus carpio), and its function in immune defense was investigated.

Nondegradable transvaginal polypropylene meshes for treating pelvic organ prolapse (POP) are now generally unavailable or banned due to serious adverse events. New tissue engineering approaches combine degradable scaffolds with mesenchymal stem/stromal cells from human endometrium (eMSC). In this study, we investigate effect of microRNA-138 (miR-138) regulation on bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) and the efficacy of BMSC transplantation therapy in a rat POP model.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a heterogeneous group of neurodevelopmental disorders characterized by deficits in communication, impaired social interaction, and repetitive or restricted interests and behaviors. We have recently shown that neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS) expression was reduced in the basolateral amygdala of mice after postnatal valproic acid exposure. However, the specific role of nNOS downregulation in mice remains to be elucidated.

Purpose: Chemotherapy resistance of esophageal cancer is a key factor affecting the postoperative treatment of esophageal cancer. Among the media that transmit signals between cells, the exosomes secreted by tumor cells mediate information transmission between tumor cells, which can make sensitive cells obtain resistance. Although some cellular exosomes play an important role in tumor's acquired drug resistance, the related action mechanism is still not explored specifically.

Background: The transfer of chloroplast DNA into nuclear genome is a common process in plants. These transfers form nuclear integrants of plastid DNAs (NUPTs), which are thought to be driving forces in genome evolution, including sex chromosome evolution. In this study, NUPTs in the genome of a dioecious plant Asparagus officinalis L.
