Background: The current standard of local treatment for patients with localized breast cancer (BC) includes whole breast irradiation (WBI) after breast-conserving surgery (BCS). Ultrahypofractionated WBI schemes (1-week treatment) were shown not to be inferior to the standard WBI. Tumor bed boost using photon intraoperative radiotherapy (IORT) is safe and feasible in combination with standard WBI.

The European population is strongly affected by cancer. Radiotherapy is roughly used in 50% of cancer patients in European countries. The increased cancer burden demands a new generation of radiation/clinical oncologist (RO/CO) that, besides a strong evidence-based oncological knowledge, will be ready for leadership in cancer care.

Radiation Oncology, Vall d´Hebron University Hospital, Barcelona, Spain.
Background: Intermediate-risk prostate cancer (PCa) is usually treated by a combination of external beam radiation therapy (EBRT) and a short course of androgen deprivation therapy (ADT). ADT is associated with multiple side effects, including weight gain, loss of libido, and hot flashes. In contrast, anti-androgen monotherapy is generally better tolerated in spite of higher rates of gynecomastia.

Purpose: The percentage of patients with metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and melanoma who benefit from anti-programmed cell death protein 1 (anti-PD-1) is low owing to resistance mechanisms. SABR has a role in oligoprogressive disease and can improve responses to anti-PD-1. This multicenter prospective observational study aimed to determine whether concomitant anti-PD-1 and SABR to oligoprogressive sites enhance tumor response in metastatic NSCLC and melanoma.

Introduction: Clinical oncologists are physicians with the competencies to manage cancer patients through the entire disease pathway combining the competencies of radiation and medical oncologists. The 4th edition of the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology Core Curriculum for Radiation Oncology/Radiotherapy (ESTRO curriculum) has received wide support by the clinical oncology community. The aim was to develop a clinical oncology module that could be combined with the ESTRO curriculum to enable clinical oncology trainees to follow a single curriculum.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer pathology in women in the Western world. The median age at diagnosis is 60 years and in the coming decades it is estimated that the number of elderly women affected reaches an important percentage. This aging of the cancer population, associated with its inherent comorbidities and aggravated by the lack of consensus about the most appropriate treatment, make it difficult to administer an effective postoperative treatment in elderly women with a low-risk profile.

Breast cancer (BC) is the principal cause of cancer-related death in women. Metastatic patients are usually treated with a systemic therapy, but clinical results are limited. Oligometastatic subjects can benefit from high-precision radiotherapy techniques to potentially achieve a complete response.

Introduction: In 2017 it was decided to revise the European Core Curriculum for Radiation Oncology/Radiotherapy to produce a 4th edition. The aims of the ESTRO curriculum are to develop comparable standards for training across Europe and to facilitate free movement of specialists across borders. It is also hoped that it will improve the level of training across Europe and will make the non-medical expert roles more explicit.

Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) have represented a revolution in the treatment of non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). To improve these results, combined approaches are being tested. The addition of stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (SABR) to ICI seems promising.

Background And Purpose: Multifocal glioblastomas (ie, glioblastomas with multiple foci, unconnected in postcontrast pretreatment T1-weighted images) represent a challenge in clinical practice due to their poor prognosis. We wished to obtain imaging biomarkers with prognostic value that have not been found previously.
Materials And Methods: A retrospective review of 1155 patients with glioblastomas from 10 local institutions during 2006-2017 provided 97 patients satisfying the inclusion criteria of the study and classified as having multifocal glioblastomas.
