Cutaneous melanoma (CM) has the highest mortality rates among the most common skin cancers, and its incidence is rising worldwide, thus representing a significant health care burden. CM is considered the most lethal skin cancer if not detected and treated during its early stages. Susceptibility to CM is also associated with an increased presence of atypical nevi and the occurrence of multiple primary melanoma.

Microbial biofilm represents a major virulence factor associated with chronic and recurrent infections. Pathogenic bacteria embedded in biofilms are highly resistant to environmental and chemical agents, including antibiotics and therefore difficult to eradicate. Thus, reliable tests to assess biofilm formation by bacterial strains as well as the impact of chemicals or antibiotics on biofilm formation represent desirable tools for a most effective therapeutic management and microbiological risk control.

Background: Clinical or quality of life assessments are currently available for psoriasis severity evaluation and therapeutic response. Laboratory scores focused to measure and follow treatment efficacy are lacking at present.

Methods: A microscopic and biomolecular score was designed to monitor skin disease severity and clinical response to anti-psoriatic treatments.

In this regard, the term Tyson's glands can be replaced by two different descriptive expressions: papillomatosis corona penis and ectopic sebaceous glands. A 15-year-old Caucasian male patient presented to our Institute with multiple and asymptomatic circular skin colored-to-yellowish papules at the level of the foreskin, also affecting the shaft of the penis, where they assumed a linear feature.

Tat is expressed and released extracellularly by infected cells also under cART and in this form induces immune dysregulation, and promotes virus reactivation, entry and spreading.

The human herpes virus 8 (HHV-8), also known as Kaposi sarcoma-associated herpes virus (KSHV), can infect endothelial cells often leading to cell transformation and to the development of tumors, namely Kaposi's sarcoma (KS), primary effusion lymphoma (PEL), and the plasmablastic variant of multicentric Castleman's disease. KSHV is prevalent in areas such as sub-Saharan Africa and the Mediterranean region presenting distinct genotypes, which appear to be associated with differences in disease manifestation, according to geographical areas. In infected cells, KSHV persists in a latent episomal form.
