Article Synopsis
  • Endocrine therapy improves outcomes for ERα+ breast cancer, but resistance remains a key challenge, often linked to mutations like Y537S in the hormone-binding domain of ERα.
  • Researchers conducted coculture experiments to study interactions between mutant breast cancer cells (MCF-7YS) and fibroblasts (both normal and cancer-associated) to see how these interactions influence cancer progression.
  • The study found that the Y537S mutation led to changes in fibroblast behavior and protein expression, with increased YAP1 involvement, suggesting that mutant breast cancer cells can enhance their growth and invasion capabilities through interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Non-valvular atrial fibrillation (AF) and cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA) are two common diseases in elderly populations. Despite the effectiveness of oral anticoagulant therapy in cardioembolic stroke prevention, intracranial hemorrhage represents the most serious complication of these therapies. Cerebral amyloid angiopathy is one of the main risk factors for spontaneous intracranial bleeding, and this risk is highly increased by age and concomitant antithrombotic therapies.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aims to investigate whether orodispersible tablet (ODT) ticagrelor can effectively inhibit platelet aggregation in acute coronary syndrome (ACS) patients who are also receiving morphine, comparing it to the standard coated tablet form.
  • A total of 130 ACS patients were randomly assigned to receive either ODT or standard ticagrelor loading doses, with assessments made regarding platelet reactivity after treatment, particularly looking for any interaction effects with morphine.
  • The results showed that while morphine-treated patients had higher platelet reactivity one hour after the loading dose, there were no significant differences in platelet reactivity between the ODT and standard ticagrelor groups, nor were there significant differences in adverse events related to

Derived inflammatory indexes from routine hematological parameters might be useful for predicting early-response vs. late/non-response to dupilumab, the first biological agent approved for moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis (AD). We tested this hypothesis by retrospectively investigating the association between pre-specified baseline inflammatory indexes and dupilumab response (≥50% reduction in the Eczema Area and Severity Index, EASI 50) at 4 and 16 weeks in a consecutive series of 66 AD patients (38 males and 28 females).

Abnormal ventricular potentials (AVPs) are frequently referred to as high-frequency deflections in intracardiac electrograms (EGMs). However, no scientific study performed a deep spectral characterisation of AVPs and physiological potentials in real bipolar intracardiac recordings across the entire frequency range imposed by their sampling frequency. In this work, the power contributions of post-ischaemic physiological potentials and AVPs, along with some spectral features, were evaluated in the frequency domain and then statistically compared to highlight specific spectral signatures for these signals.
