Background: Every year 2% of pregnant women undergo nonobstetric surgical interventions worldwide. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists Committee on Obstetric Practice, pregnant women should never be denied the most appropriate surgical treatment, regardless of the trimester of pregnancy. However, additional attention should be paid during the first trimester since it has the highest risk of inducing teratogenic mutations; additionally, during the third trimester, due to the possibility of preterm birth and low birth weight of the newborn, great care should be paid.

Importance: There is a high level of public and professional interest related to potential safety issues of the COVID-19 vaccines; however, no serious adverse cardiovascular events were reported in phase 3 randomized controlled trials of their safety and efficacy. Moreover, none of the case series from the United States (US) of these potential complications have been population-based.
Objectives: To estimate the reporting rates of myocarditis and pericarditis in the US using the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS), and to assess if these adverse events were disproportionally reported among the different COVID-19 vaccines.

Introduction: Interstitial lung diseases (ILDs) are diseases characterised by excessive deposition of collagen matrices in the pulmonary interstitium. Some of them are considered idiopathic (idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis - IPF), others are related to known pathologies such as connective tissue diseases (CTDs-ILD). Patient affected by ILD and features referable to CTD, not satisfying CTD criteria, are called Interstitial pneumonia with autoimmune features (IPAF) patients.

Methods and Results We performed an interventional, prospective, multicenter, single-arm trial, powered for noninferiority with respect to an objective performance criterion to evaluate the safety of percutaneous coronary interventions with Synergy bioresorbable-polymer everolimus-eluting stent followed by 1-month dual antiplatelet therapy in patients with high bleeding risk. In case of need for an oral anticoagulant, patients received an oral anticoagulant in addition to a P2Y inhibitor for 1 month, followed by an oral anticoagulant only.

Aim To report clinical, functional and radiographic results of oneincision distal biceps tendon repair with Toggle Loc (Zimmer-Biomet, Warsaw, Indiana, USA) at an average 4-year follow-up and to assess posterior interosseous nerve injury complications after reconstruction. Methods We conducted a retrospective review of 58 consecutive distal biceps tendon repairs performed at our department between 2010 and 2018. Disabilities of Arm, Shoulder and Hand (DASH) score, Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) scale and elbow range of motion (ROM) were recorded at each follow-up and an ultrasound examination was also performed to assess the repaired biceps brachii tendon.

With the introduction of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) and next-generation vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-tyrosine kinase inhibitors (VEGFR-TKIs), the survival of patients with advanced renal cell carcinoma (RCC) has improved remarkably. However, not all patients have benefited from treatments, and to date, there are still no validated biomarkers that can be included in the therapeutic algorithm. Thus, the identification of predictive biomarkers is necessary to increase the number of responsive patients and to understand the underlying immunity.

Levosimendan was first approved for clinic use in 2000, when authorisation was granted by Swedish regulatory authorities for the haemodynamic stabilisation of patients with acutely decompensated chronic heart failure. In the ensuing 20 years, this distinctive inodilator, which enhances cardiac contractility through calcium sensitisation and promotes vasodilatation through the opening of adenosine triphosphate-dependent potassium channels on vascular smooth muscle cells, has been approved in more than 60 jurisdictions, including most of the countries of the European Union and Latin America. Areas of clinical application have expanded considerably and now include cardiogenic shock, takotsubo cardiomyopathy, advanced heart failure, right ventricular failure and pulmonary hypertension, cardiac surgery, critical care and emergency medicine.

Introduction: Progressive saphenous vein graft (SVG) failure remains a key limitation to the long-term success of coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). SVG disease after the first year is dominated by intimal hyperplasia, which predisposes the SVG to thrombosis and accelerated atherosclerosis. The objective of this study was to review and summarize the latest experimental and clinical data on the use of mechanical external stents for vein grafts.

Background: Various conservative treatments and surgical techniques have been reported in the literature as efficient and feasible measures to treat the cubital tunnel syndrome. However, there has been no consensus on the best management of the syndrome, and uniform standardised guidelines have not yet been accepted or introduced. With our study, we present our experience on the clinical efficacies and outcomes of the surgical techniques of neurolysis alone and neurolysis associated with ulnar nerve anterior transposition at the elbow joint in patients with neuropathic symptoms due to cubital tunnel syndrome.

Tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) target angiogenesis by affecting, for example, the VEGF receptors in tumors and have improved outcomes for patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC). Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have also been proposed for treatment of mRCC with encouraging results. A better understanding of the activity of immune cells in mRCC, the immunomodulatory effects of TKIs, and the characteristics defining patients most likely to benefit from various therapies will help optimize immunotherapeutic approaches.

Mutations in four genes (,, and ) have been identified to be responsible for this disease. Cullin 3 (CUL3) and KLHL3 are subunits of Cullin-RING E3 ubiquitin ligase complexes, and the serine-threonine kinases WNK1 and WNK4 are substrates of this ubiquitin ligase.
