Neurol Neuroimmunol Neuroinflamm

March 2025

Hospices Civils de Lyon, Service de Neurologie, Sclérose en Plaques, Pathologies de la Myéline et Neuro-Inflammation-Hôpital Neurologique Pierre Wertheimer, Bron Cedex.

Objectives: To characterize the serum cytokine profile in myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody-associated disease (MOGAD) at onset and during follow-up and assess their utility for predicting relapses and disability.

Methods: This retrospective multicentric cohort study included patients aged 16 years and older meeting MOGAD 2023 criteria, with serum samples collected at baseline (≤3 months from disease onset) and follow-up (≥6 months from the baseline), and age-matched and time to sampling-matched patients with multiple sclerosis (MS). Eleven cytokines were assessed using the ELLA system.

Objective: The diagnosis of secondary progressive multiple sclerosis (SPMS) is often established retrospectively leading to a delay in detection. This work presents a clinical care algorithm that aims to facilitate the recognition of the secondary progressive phase of the disease, analyzing its usefulness and the feasibility of its implementation in routine clinical practice.

Methods: The algorithm was developed in four phases: 1) choice of validated diagnostic tools for the detection of progression; 2) assessment of these tools based on experience of use, applicability, time consumed, perceived usefulness and suitability for a profile of a patient in transition to SPMS; 3) framework and final sequence of application; 4) feasibility evaluation through application in clinical practice.

Background/objectives: The concept of educational systems thinking shows the rugby educational system as a network of multiple interactive and interconnected elements. However, the frameworks presented in the literature for developing sports practice through an educational vision and multisport engagement do not always have direct transferability to instructors' training courses. The study aims to evaluate the correlation between rugby instructors' methodological and didactical competencies and compare them with children's motor competence and psychological aspects.

Background: Due to the increase in global temperature, it is necessary to investigate solutions so that athletes competing in hot conditions can perform in optimal conditions avoiding loss of performance and health problems. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate the effect of pre-exercise glycerol supplementation during a rectangular test at ambient temperature mid (28.2ºC) on dehydration variables in international race walkers.

Background: Paliperidone palmitate 6-monthly (PP6M) is the first long-acting antipsychotic injectable (LAI) to allow for only two medication administrations per year, though there is presently limited insight into its effectiveness and potential added value in real clinical practice conditions.

Objectives: To present our ongoing study and draw its preliminary data on patient characteristics initiating PP6M and adherence during the first year of treatment.

Methods: The paliperidone 2 per year (P2Y) study is a 4-year, multicentre, prospective mirror-image pragmatic study taking place at over 20 different sites in Europe.

Peripheral nerve sheath tumors (PNST) comprise schwannomas and neurofibromas. The finding of increased adipose tissue around benign PNSTs has been described as the "split fat sign" on magnetic resonance imaging exams, which is suggestive of an intramuscular or intermuscular location of the tumor. However, few studies have described this sign as a salient ultrasound feature of PNSTs.

Glutathione S-transferase theta 1 (GSTT1) is an enzyme involved in phase II biotransformation processes and a member of a multigene family of detoxifying and clearing reactive oxygen species. GSTT1 is polymorphic like other biotransforming enzymes, allowing variability in hepatic conjugation processes. Immunological recognition of the GSTT1 alloantigen, as evidenced by donor-specific antibodies formation, has previously been observed in recipients lacking GSTT1 protein (called GSTT1-, GSTT*0, null phenotype or homozygous for the GSTT1 deletion) who receive liver or kidney transplants from GSTT1+ donors and is a risk factor for the development of de novo hepatitis following liver transplants from a GSTT1 expressing donor.

Injuries associated with the hamstring muscles in the running athlete are increasingly investigated due to the economic and functional consequences associated with them. Although hardly used in the treatment of sports injuries, medical ozone is effective and very well tolerated in the treatment of musculoskeletal pain, it was decided to add a series of medical ozone infiltrations to the treatment. The evolution of the case was recorded by medical thermography, in addition to measuring pain intensity (visual analog scale) and functional capacity (toe touch test).

In recent years, the corporate social responsibility (CSR) report has gained strategic importance within organizations, especially after the development of strategies and different international regulations, such as the Global Compact and the United Nations' 2030 Agenda or Directive 2014/95/EU. This, together with the boom in CSR research and business management, has given rise to heterogeneity in the conceptualization and management of CSR report. Consequently, this research study proposes a bibliometric and systematic analysis of 4966 research articles, available in the Scopus repository and published during the period of 2001-2021, to improve the conceptualization and management of CSR communication.

The long-term use of psychopharmacology medications in autism spectrum disorder (ASD) hitherto remains controversial due to a lack of evidence about safety and tolerability. In this regard, genotyping the metabolizing enzyme cytochrome P450 , especially its extreme phenotypes, could help to prevent drug-related adverse reactions or adverse events (AEs). There are several medications warranting screening that are consumed by people with ASD, such as risperidone and aripiprazole to name a few.

There is current interest in infrared thermography as a method to assess changes in body surface temperature to determine thermoregulatory mechanisms, especially in endurance sports. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of two environmental temperatures (17 and 28°C) on body surface temperature in different anterior and posterior aspects of the body during a rectangular test in international walkers of the Spanish National Team. Three international walkers performed a rectangular test, where body temperature was measured at rest, and after the 5th, 10th and 15th run using an infrared thermographic camera in room temperatures at 17 and 28°C.
