To identify credible causal risk variants (CCVs) associated with different histotypes of epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC), we performed genome-wide association analysis for 470,825 genotyped and 10,163,797 imputed SNPs in 25,981 EOC cases and 105,724 controls of European origin. We identified five histotype-specific EOC risk regions (p value <5 × 10) and confirmed previously reported associations for 27 risk regions. Conditional analyses identified an additional 11 signals independent of the primary signal at six risk regions (p value <10).

While B cell depletion and blockade/sequestration of T and B cells potently reduces episodic relapses, they act peripherally to allow persistence of chronic-active brain inflammation and progressive neurological dysfunction. While childbearing protects against risk of epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC), few studies have explored the impact on maternal EOC risk of sex of offspring, which may affect the maternal environment during pregnancy. We performed a pooled analysis among parous participants from 12 case-controls studies comprising 6872 EOC patients and 9101 controls. Odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated using multivariable logistic regression for case-control associations and polytomous logistic regression for histotype-specific associations, all adjusted for potential confounders.

Quantifying the genetic correlation between cancers can provide important insights into the mechanisms driving cancer etiology. Porous calcium polyphosphate (CPP) is being investigated for use as a biodegradable bone substitute and for repair of osteochondral defects. The necessary requirements for these applications, particularly in load-bearing sites, include sufficient strength to withstand functional forces prior to bone ingrowth and substitution of the initial porous CPP template with new bone and cartilage (for osteochondral implants) in a timely and efficacious manner. The present study explored the effects of Na doping and processing to form porous structures of both higher strength and faster degradation than previously reported for 'pure' (non-doped) CPP structures of similar geometry.
