Impact of Varicocele Repair on Semen Parameters in Infertile Men: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

Purpose: Despite the significant role of varicocele in the pathogenesis of male infertility, the impact of varicocele repair (VR) on conventional semen parameters remains controversial. Only a few systematic reviews and meta-analyses (SRMAs) have evaluated the impact of VR on sperm concentration, total motility, and progressive motility, mostly using a before-after analytic approach. No SRMA to date has evaluated the change in conventional semen parameters after VR compared to untreated controls.

Clinical Evaluation of Patients with COVID-19 Within the Framework of Comorbidities.

Objectives: Chronic systemic diseases (CSD) and cancer are closely related to the clinical course, severity and mortality of COVID-19 due to the immunosuppressive conditions caused by these diseases. Tuberous sclerosis is a genetic multisystem disorder characterised by hamartomas in several organs. Cardiac rhabdomyomas are the main features of the disease but lipomas can very rarely be associated. Herein, we present a very rare association of tuberous sclerosis and cardiac lipoma detected by echocardiography and diagnosed as a lipoma via MRI and fat suppression technic, aim to report this very rare association, and emphasise usefulness of MRI in cardiac mass lesions.

Spontaneous massive hemothorax as an atypical presentation of bronchial carcinoid.

Bronchial carcinoid tumors can present with symptoms of distal airway obstruction, local airway irritation, or hemoptysis. Presentation with a spontaneous massive hemothorax has never been encountered before. In this article, we present a case of spontaneous massive hemothorax caused by the rupture of an atypical carcinoid tumor in the right upper lobe.

The Relationship Between COVID-19 Disease Severity and Zonulin Levels.

Introduction Zonulin is a protein that plays a role in the reversible regulation of epithelial permeability. As zonulin is released in large amounts into the intestinal lumen, it disrupts the integrity of the tight junctions and causes continuous migration of antigens to the submucosa. Consequently, it can trigger inflammatory processes and severe immune reactions.

Introduction: Hyponatremia is one of the most common electrolyte abnormalities in clinical practice. Data regarding factors that have impact on mortality of severe hyponatremia and outcomes of its therapeutic management is insufficient. The Terrible Triad of the Elbow Accompanied by Capitellum and Humerus Shaft Fracture: A Rare Case Report.

The terrible triad of the elbow consists of radial head fracture and coronoid process fracture in addition to posterior dislocation of the elbow. It indicates high-risk complications such as instability, malunion, nonunion, and proximal radioulnar synostosis. We describe a rare case that was admitted to the emergency service with a terrible triad of the elbow with additional capitellum fracture, lateral collateral ligament (LCL) injury, and ipsilateral humeral shaft fracture.

Central Nervous System Fungal Infections in Children With Leukemia and Undergoing Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation: A Retrospective Multicenter Study.

Background: Central nervous system fungal infections (CNSFI) are seen in patients with hematologic malignancies and have high morbidity and mortality. Because of their rarity, there is limited data on CNSFI in children with no established treatment protocols or guidelines.

Materials And Methods: In this multicenter retrospective study, 51 pediatric patients with leukemia, 6 of whom had undergone bone marrow transplantation, with proven or probable CNSFI were evaluated.

Avascular Necrosis of the Type II Accessory Navicular Bone: A Rare Case Report.

The accessory navicular bone (ANB) is one of the most common accessory ossicles of the foot. Fewer than 1% of ANBs are symptomatic, and most of the symptomatic ANBs are type II ANBs. Avascular necrosis of the type II ANB is an uncommon cause of symptomatic accessory navicular syndrome and also a rarely reported condition in the podiatric medical literature.
