Objective: Hypophosphatemic rickets (HR) is a rare renal phosphate-wasting disorder, which is usually X-linked and is commonly caused by PHEX mutations. The treatment and follow-up of HR is challenging due to imperfect treatment options.

Acute Graft-Versus-Host Disease: A Brief Review.

Graft‐versus‐host disease (GvHD) is an important complication that can be observed after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT). Acute GvHD (aGvHD) is seen after allo-HSCT and the incidence of aGvHD is around 30%-50%. aGvHD prophylaxis is essential in patients undergoing allo-HSCT.

Objectives: To analyze the course of seasonal viral infections of respiratory tract in patients hospitalized in pediatric intensive care units (PICU) of 16 centers in Turkey.

Materials And Methods: It is a retrospective, observational, and multicenter study conducted in 16 tertiary PICUs in Turkey includes a total of 302 children with viral cause in the nasal swab which required PICU admission with no interventions.

Results: Median age of patients was 12 months.

Objective: The aim of this study is to assess the microstructural changes to the olfactory bulb (OB) in patients with nasal septum deviation (NSD) using diffusion tensor imaging and to research the association between these changes and the degree of NSD.

A new oxidative stress indicator: Effect of 5-hydroxytryptophan on thiol-disulfide homeostasis in exercise.

Objectives: The aim of the present study was to evaluate the relationship between exercise and both 5-hydroxytryptophan and oxidative stress using thiol-disulfide homeostasis via what is likely a novel biomarker.

Methods: Male albino Wistar rats (n = 32) were randomly divided into four groups as follows: control, exercise group, 5-hydroxytryptophan group (5H), and 5-HTP + exercise group (5Hex). Exercise and 5-HTP administration (25mg/kg per d) were performed 5d/wk for 10 wk.

For long-term patency, a left internal mammary artery (LIMA) graft is considered the gold standard for left anterior descending artery (LAD) revascularization. Subsequent occlusion of a LIMA graft may be related to atherosclerosis, narrowing at anastomotic locations, fixed torsions within the graft, straight tubular stenosis, dissection, or vasospasm. Late thrombotic occlusion of a LIMA, however, is rare, and the cause is not known, though case reports can be found in the literature.

Prognostic evaluation of cases with thoracic trauma admitted to the intensive care unit: 10-year clinical outcomes.

Background: Multiple traumas are a leading cause of mortality among young adults worldwide. Thoracic trauma causes approximately 25% of all trauma-associated deaths. This study aims to determine the independent prognostic factors of mortality in cases with thoracic trauma (isolated or with accompanying organ injuries) who were admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU).

The Frequency of Lysosomal Acid Lipase Deficiency in Children With Unexplained Liver Disease.

Objectives: Evidence suggests that lysosomal acid lipase deficiency (LAL-D) is often underdiagnosed because symptoms may be nonspecific. We aimed to investigate the prevalence of LAL-D in children with unexplained liver disease and to identify demographic and clinical features with a prospective, multicenter, cross-sectional study.

Methods: Patients (aged 3 months-18 years) who had unexplained transaminase elevation, unexplained hepatomegaly or hepatosplenomegaly, obesity-unrelated liver steatosis, biopsy-proven cryptogenic fibrosis and cirrhosis, or liver transplantation for cryptogenic cirrhosis were enrolled.
