Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has brought significant mental health challenges, particularly for vulnerable populations, including non-binary gender individuals. The COMET international study aimed to investigate specific risk factors for clinical depression or distress during the pandemic, also in these special populations.

Methods: Chi-square tests were used for initial screening to select only those variables which would show an initial significance.

Archive documents and sources in scientific electronic databases were analyzed in order to study the historical origins of the health resort business in terms of children's health resort medicine in the Samara government. It has been established that the period of origin and intensive development of balneology for children in the Samara region occurred at the beginning of the 20th century and the first children's sanatoriums began to function thanks to the initiative of the Society of Governmental Physicians for charitable funds of the Samara nobility and merchantry in territories with natural and climatic therapeutic factors, namely Sernovodsky resort, Barboshina glade and Postnikov ravine. A comparative analysis of the dynamics of morbidity structure of children admitted for sanatorium treatment, as well as general education institutions, from which information on the health of school pupils is received, has been conducted over a period of 120 years.

In this study there were utilized a combination of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy in attenuated total reflection mode (ATR-FTIR) and partial least squares (PLS) regression method to develop quantitative models for determining the concentration of ademetionine in commercial tablets. The established and validated models were specifically designed for a commercial product containing ademetionine 1,4-butandiesulfonate. The coefficient of determination for the developed model was 0.

The basis of modern tooth whitening systems is the use of a whitening gel, which usually contains hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide. The study included 81 patients aged 22 to 35 years with a tooth color A2 and a darker color on the Vita Classic scale. The purpose of our research was to identify a new approach to whitening teeth to improve safety and gentleness.

Background: We conducted a multicenter, prospective, observational study to describe the incidence of orthostatic hypotension (OH) and orthostatic hypertension (OHtn) and its association with symptoms at standing and outcomes in patients with heart failure (HF).

Methods And Results: 321 active standing tests were performed in 87 inpatients during admission, and 316 tests were performed in 208 outpatients during follow-up. Blood pressure (BP) was measured by an automatic device 4 times in the supine position and at 1, 3 and 5 minutes of standing.

The AM-4 Family of Layered Titanosilicates: Single-Crystal-to-Single-Crystal Transformation, Synthesis and Ionic Conductivity.

Materials (Basel)

December 2023

Laboratory of Nature-Inspired Technologies and Environmental Safety of the Arctic, Nanomaterial Research Center of the Kola Science Centre, Russian Academy of Sciences, Fersmana str. 14, 184209 Apatity, Russia.

Flexible crystal() structures, which exhibit() single-crystal()-to-single-crystal() (SCSC) transformations(), are attracting attention() in many applied aspects: magnetic() switches, catalysis, ferroelectrics and sorption. Acid treatment() for titanosilicate material() AM-4 and natural() compounds with the same structures led to SCSC transformation() by loss() Na, Li and Zn cations with large structural() changes (20% of the unit()-cell() volume()). The conservation() of crystallinity through complex() transformation() is possible due() to the formation() of a strong hydrogen bonding() system().

The results of high-throughput screening of the inorganic crystal structure database for new promising Ca-, Mg-, Zn- and Al-ion conducting ternary and quaternary sulfides, selenides, and tellurides are presented (∼1500 compounds). A geometrical-topological approach based on the Voronoi partition was initially used and yielded 104 compounds, which were unknown as conductors with possible cation migration. All compounds were passed through the bond valence site energy analysis to determine the migration energy .

Background: For the present, matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization-time-of-flight (MALDI-ToF) mass spectrometry is the fastest and the most correct method for species identification of microorganisms. Apart from species-level identification, it allows to use a variety of approaches for the analysis and comparison of protein spectra of microorganisms of the same species, which are isolated from a patient at various disease states, that can be used in routine microbiological practice in laboratories fitted with mass analyzers.

Methods: Two strains of Mycobacterium fortuitum and two strains of Mycobacterium peregrinum were isolated from sputum samples, which were obtained from patients with different clinical aspects of mycobacteriosis, whereat were reinoculated on the universal chromogenic culture medium "UriSelect 4.

In this paper, a new bio-inspired metaheuristic algorithm called Giant Armadillo Optimization (GAO) is introduced, which imitates the natural behavior of giant armadillo in the wild. The fundamental inspiration in the design of GAO is derived from the hunting strategy of giant armadillos in moving towards prey positions and digging termite mounds. The theory of GAO is expressed and mathematically modeled in two phases: (i) exploration based on simulating the movement of giant armadillos towards termite mounds, and (ii) exploitation based on simulating giant armadillos' digging skills in order to prey on and rip open termite mounds.

Exp Gerontol

January 2024

College of Exercise and Health, Shenyang Sport University, Shenyang, China. Electronic address:

The immune system is an important defense against diseases, and it is essential to maintain the homeostasis of the body's internal environment. Under normal physiological conditions, the steady state of the immune system should be sustained to play normal immune response and immune function. Exploring the molecular mechanism of maintaining immune homeostasis under physiological and pathological conditions will provides understanding of the pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases, infections, metabolic disorders, and tumors, as well as new ideas and molecular targets for the prevention and treatment of these diseases.
