Epidemiological analysis of adult-type diffuse lower-grade gliomas and incidence and prevalence estimates of diffuse IDH-mutant gliomas in France.

Background: The recent advent of anti-IDH therapies and changes in the WHO classification of gliomas implies estimating the number of patients who could benefit (or not) from anti-IDH treatment. As published data on the current incidence of different subtypes of IDH-mutant gliomas (based on the latest histomolecular WHO classification) are lacking in many countries. The present analysis aims to review the main factors impacting the incidence of gliomas and lower-grade gliomas and to estimate the incidence and prevalence of IDH-mutant gliomas in France.

Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation in trauma patient in France: A retrospective nationwide registry.

Background: Indications for Veno-venous (VV) or veno-arterial (VA) extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) after trauma rely on poor evidence. The main aims were to describe the population of trauma patients requiring either VV or VA ECMO and report their clinical management and outcomes.

Methods: An observational multicentre retrospective study was conducted in 17 Level 1 trauma centres in France between January 2010 and December 2021.

Robot-assisted myomectomy versus open surgery: Cost-effectiveness analysis.

Introduction: Fibroids are the most common benign uterine tumors. There are different possibilities for surgical approaches, and evaluating the cost of these operations is fundamental in modern surgery. The aim of our study is to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of robotic-assisted myomectomy (RAM) compared to open myomectomy (OM) in France.

Antithrombotic therapy in patients with atrial high-rate episodes (AHREs): Current evidence and open questions.

With the increasing use of cardiac electronic implantable devices in recent years, the identification of asymptomatic atrial arrhythmias, including atrial high-rate episodes (AHREs) and device-detected subclinical atrial fibrillation (SCAF), has become common in clinical practice. AHREs have potentially important clinical implications because they are considered precursors of atrial fibrillation (AF). Although to a lesser extent than clinical AF, both AHREs and device-detected SCAF are associated with thromboembolic events, however routine use of anticoagulants in these conditions is not recommended.

De-escalating and discontinuing disease-modifying therapies in multiple sclerosis.

The development of disease-modifying therapies (DMTs) for the treatment of multiple sclerosis (MS) has been highly successful in recent decades. It is now widely accepted that early initiation of DMTs after disease onset is associated with a better long-term prognosis. However, the question of when and how to de-escalate or discontinue DMTs remains open and critical.

Background: We have previously reported that the gap junction protein connexin 43 (Cx43) was upregulated in chronic renal disease in humans and rodents and plays a crucial role in the progression of experimental nephropathy. Retinoblastoma (RB) proteins are highly conserved transcriptional regulators that play important roles during development by regulating cell-cycle gene expression. RBL2 dysfunction has been linked to a severe neurodevelopmental disorder. However, to date, clinical features have only been described in six individuals carrying five biallelic predicted loss of function (pLOF) variants.

Tongue Squamous Cell Carcinoma and Oral Lichen Planus: A Rare Case Report of a Pregnant Woman.

Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of oral mucosa is increasingly affecting younger individuals, particularly in the tongue. SCC can develop from disorders like oral lichen planus (OLP). This case highlights the first known instance of OLP and SCC in a pregnant woman, suggesting hormonal changes and HPV as possible risk factors.

Methods: Eighty-seven adults experiencing PASC with neurocognitive symptoms were recruited in the PERSICOR prospective study and examined using brain [18F]FDG PET/CT.

Association Between Patient-Reported Pain and Remission or Low Disease Activity in Patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis: Data from RA-BE-REAL Prospective Observational Study.

Introduction: We aim to assess the association of patient-reported pain and remission or low disease activity (LDA) at 3 months (M) in patients receiving baricitinib or other treatments in RA-BE-REAL.

Methods: RA-BE-REAL reports on patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) who were prescribed, for the first time, baricitinib (cohort A) or a tumour necrosis factor inhibitor (TNFi) (cohort B-TNFi) or any other mode of action (OMA) (cohort B-OMA). Pain was measured using the visual analogue scale (VAS) (0-100 mm) and clinically meaningful pain improvement thresholds of ≥ 30%, ≥ 50% and ≥ 70% from baseline to 3, 6, 12 and 24 M.

Objective: Idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (myositis, IIMs) are rare, systemic autoimmune disorders that lead to muscle inflammation, weakness, and extra-muscular manifestations, with a strong genetic component influencing disease development and progression. Previous genome-wide association studies identified loci associated with IIMs. In this study, we imputed data from two prior genome-wide myositis studies and analyzed the largest myositis dataset to date to identify novel risk loci and susceptibility genes associated with IIMs and its clinical subtypes.

While most research focuses on the fecal microbiota due to its easier accessibility, the small intestine, as a major site for nutrient sensing and absorption, warrants further investigation to determine its microbiota composition and functions. Here, we conducted a clinical research project in 30 age- and sex-matched participants with ( = 15) and without ( = 15) obesity.

Plasma p-tau217 in Alzheimer's disease: Lumipulse and ALZpath SIMOA head-to-head comparison.

Plasma phosphorylated-tau217 (p-tau217) has been shown to be one of the most accurate diagnostic markers for Alzheimer's disease. No studies have compared the clinical performance of p-tau217 as assessed by the fully automated Lumipulse and single molecule array (SIMOA) AlZpath p-tau217. The study included 392 participants, 162 with Alzheimer's disease, 70 with other neurodegenerative diseases with CSF biomarkers and 160 healthy controls.

Global health in axial spondyloarthritis: thresholds for the Assessment of SpondyloArthritis international Society Health Index and the EuroQol score: analysis of the ASAS-PerSpA study.

Objectives: In axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA), patient-perceived quality of life/global functioning and health (GH) can be assessed using disease-specific [Assessment of SpondyloArthrit is international Society Health Index (ASAS-HI)] or generic [(3-level EuroQol 5 Dimensions (EQ-5D-3L)] scores. Our objectives were to explore the link between these scores and to define thresholds for good and poor GH.

Method: We conducted a post-hoc analysis of the cross-sectional ASAS-PerSpA study for patients fulfilling ASAS criteria for axSpA.
