Natural extract plays a crucial role in our lives, major compound in the n-hexane (AR-H) and the ethyl acetate (AR-E) extracts was n-hexadecanoic acid, and of the methanol extract (AR-M) was pentacosane. The AR-M extract had a strong ability to induce mRNA expression of an inflammatory cytokine, IL-6, as an M1-like macrophage subset compared to the negative control (DMSO-treated cells). In contrast, AR-E treatment showed strong anti-inflammatory activity against macrophages.

Expression of antigen-presenting cells in lung of postmortem SARS-CoV-2 cases.

Cell Mol Biol (Noisy-le-grand)

September 2024

Department of Biology, College of Science, Salahaddin University- Erbil, Erbil, Iraq.

Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) is a deadly pulmonary disease with impaired immunological response that causes significant tissue damage and organ failure. Postmortem examination of the lung is a useful tool for understanding the immunopathogenesis of this virus. Lung autopsy samples from seven dead SARS-CoV-2 patients were obtained and evaluated using hematoxylin and eosin stain to analyze the histopathological changes in those samples, on the other hand, Immunohistochemical (IHC) staining was used for detection of CD21, CD1a, CR1 (CD35), CD68, Myeloperoxidase (MPO), CD15, CD56, CD3, CD20, CD4, and CD8 cells markers.

Department of General Science, College of Basic Education, Salahaddin University-Erbil, (44001), Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq. Electronic address:

In this groundbreaking study, artificial neural networks (ANNs) are employed to predict the production cross-sections of crucial radioisotopes, namely O, Bi, Th, and Zn, via the (p,n) reaction. We employed a comparative approach to validate the ANN model's predictions by comparing them to outputs generated by established nuclear reaction codes (TALYS 1.9, EMPIRE-3.

Corosolic acid (CA) is a well-known natural pentacyclic triterpene found in numerous therapeutic plants that can exhibit many bioactivities including anti-inflammatory and anti-tumor actions. The current investigation explores the chemoprotective roles of CA against azoxymethane (AOM)-induced colonic aberrant crypt foci (ACF) in rats. Thirty Sprague Dawley rats were grouped in 5 cages; Group A, normal control rats inoculated subcutaneously (sc) with two doses of normal saline and fed orally on 10% tween 20; Groups B-E received two doses (sc) of azoxymethane in two weeks and treated with either 10% tween 20 (group B) or two intraperitoneal injections of 35 mg/kg 5-fluorouracil each week for one month (group C), while group D and E treated with 30 and 60 mg/kg, respectively, for 2 months.

Interleukin-10 Gene Polymorphisms Modulate the Risk of Infertility in Positive Kurdish Women in Erbil Province.

Rep Biochem Mol Biol

January 2024

Department of Biology, College of Education, Salahaddin University-Erbil, Erbil City, Kurdistan Region, Iraq.

Background: There is evident inter-individual variability in women's responses to Chlamydial infections and reproductive tract problems. Women's genetic variations within the Interleukin-10 (IL-10) gene have been linked to variances in response to infection. This study was aimed to demonstrate the profound association of IL-10 with infertility and demonstrate the role of IL-10 (-592 C/A rs1800872) and (-1082 A>G rs1800896) single nucleotide polymorphism (SNPs) gene in the susceptibility and severity of a infection.

The current study explored melatonin (MEL) and its receptors, including MEL type 1 receptor (MT1) receptor and MEL type 2 receptor (MT2), along with the angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE), influence on vascular responses to angiotensin II (Ang II) in rat aortic segments of normal and diabetic rats. The isolated aortic segments were exposed to MEL, the MEL agonist; ramelteon (RAM), the MEL antagonist; luzindole (LUZ), and an ACE inhibitor (S, S)-2-(1-Carboxy-2-(3-(3,5-dichlorobenzyl)-3 H-imidazol-4-yl)-ethylamino)-4-methylpentanoic acid,) on Ang II-induced contractions in non-diabetic normal endothelium (non-DM E+), non-diabetic removed endothelium (non-DM E-), and streptozotocin-induced diabetic endothelium-intact (STZ-induced DM E+) rat aortic segments, as well as their combination in STZ-induced DM E + segments, were also included. The current results showed that MEL and RAM shifted Ang II dose-response curve (DRC) to the right side in non-DM E + and non-DM E- aorta but not in STZ-induced DM E + aorta.

Background Despite advances in chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) genetics, the role of nitric oxide (NO) and hydrogen sulfide (HS) gene mutations and their relationship to apoptotic genes is unclear. Therefore, this study investigated NO- and HS-producing genes' mutations and their interactions with apoptotic genes using Sanger sequencing and next-generation sequencing (NGS). Methodology A complete blood count (CBC) was carried out to measure the total number of white blood cells, while IL-6 levels were assessed in both control and CML patients using an ELISA technique.

Haematopoiesis dysregulation with the presence of immature myeloid and erythroid immunosuppressive cells are key characteristics of the immune escape phase of tumour development. Here, the role of in vitro generated B16F10 tumour cell-derived extracellular vesicles (tEVs) as indirect cellular communicators, participating in tumour-induced dysregulation of haematopoiesis, was explored. The isolated tEVs displayed features of small EVs with a size range of 100-200 nm, expressed the common EV markers CD63, CD9, and Alix, and had a spherical shape with a lipid bilayer membrane.
