Introduction: While the Thrombite device differs from the Solitare stent with its Helical open-side structure feature, it shows great similarity with its other features. We assessed the Thrombite device's effectiveness and safety in this study.

Materials And Methods: The study was a retrospective analysis of patients who were included in the Turkish Interventional Neurology database and who had mechanical thrombectomy with the Thrombite device as the first choice between January 2020 and January 2023.

November 2021

Department of Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplantation, Dr. Abdurrahman Yurtaslan Ankara Oncology Training and Research Hospital, University of Health Sciences, Ankara, TUR.

Introduction: In this study, we aim to analyze the effect of total body irradiation (TBI) on neutrophil and thrombocyte engraftment durations in acute leukemia (AL) patients who achieved allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (Allo-SCT) at our center.

Methods: The data of 193 acute leukemia patients who were performed Allo-SCT from matched-related donors were analyzed retrospectively.

Results: Thrombocyte engraftment duration was statistically shorter (12 days) in acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) patients who received TBI-based conditioning when compared to ALL patients who received non-TBI-based conditioning (14 days; p=0.

Recovery of Symmetrical Peripheral Gangrene of Limbs in a Patient After Performing Hemoadsorption in Septic Shock.

J Clin Apher

August 2021

Department of Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplantation Center, Ankara Dr. Abdurrahman Yurtaslan Oncology Training and Research Hospital, University of Health Sciences, Ankara, Turkey.

We report a 42-year-old patient who had Hodgkin lymphoma and developed bilateral symmetrical peripheral gangrene (SPG) in the feet and hands, which occurred during septic shock after autologous hematopoietic stem-cell transplantation. SPG is a rare but severe complication of disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) and is frequently associated with sepsis. The pathophysiology of SPG includes DIC-mediated intravascular thrombosis and thrombotic occlusion of microcirculation, resulting in low blood flow.

Department of Anesthesiology and Reanimation, Sakarya University Hospital, Adnan Menderes Cad. Sağlık Sok. No:195, 54100, Sakarya, Turkey.

Background: Fahr's syndrome (or Fahr's disease) is a rare, neurological disorder characterized by bilateral calcification in the cerebellum, thalamus, basal ganglia, and cerebral cortex as a result of calcium and phosphorus metabolism disorder. The patients may be asymptomatic and clinical symptoms represent a wide range of neurologic manifestations and nonspecific neuropsychiatric disorders. We report an unusual case of Fahr's syndrome which was asymptomatic and incidentally diagnosed by generalized tonic-clonic seizure in a patient with SARS-CoV-2 (COVİD-19) pneumonia.

Consequently new challenges have arisen in the management of benign conditions.
