Comparison of Impressions of COVID-19 Vaccinations Stratified by the Number of Vaccinations Among Japanese Healthcare Professional University Students.

Objective: Coronavirus infectious disease, that emerged in 2019 (COVID-19) has been a major public health issue not only in Japan, but also worldwide, and the implementation of a proper vaccination strategy has been important. To promote vaccination, the present study compared impressions of COVID-19 vaccinations stratified by the number of vaccinations among healthcare professional university students in Okayama, Japan, and suggests better vaccination strategies.

Method: A total of 212 Japanese healthcare professional university students were enrolled in this clinical qualitative study using the text mining method.

The aim of this study was to compare impressions of COVID-19 vaccination and influenza vaccination in Japan by analyzing social media (Twitter) using a text-mining method. We obtained 10,000 tweets using the keywords "corona vaccine" and "influenza vaccine" on 15 December 2022 and 19 February 2023. We then counted the number of times the words were used and listed frequency of these words by a text-mining method called KH Coder.

In this study, we investigated whether partially replacing d-glucose with the rare sugar d-allose could ameliorate peritoneal injury and hyperglycaemia induced by peritoneal dialysis fluid (PDF).

Pulmonary papillary tumors are usually occur in the upper respiratory tract, and solitary papilloma in the peripheral lung are extremely rare. To assess whether long-term high-flow nasal cannula use reduces the number of exacerbations and improves other physiological parameters in patients with chronic hypercapnic respiratory failure caused by chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. We enrolled 104 participants (aged ⩾40 yr) with daytime hypercapnia (Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease stages 2-4) receiving long-term oxygen therapy (⩾16 h/d for ⩾1 mo) and randomly assigned them to high-flow nasal cannula/long-term oxygen therapy and long-term oxygen therapy groups.

IgG4-related lung disease with recurrent pulmonary lesions during steroid therapy and difficulty in differentiating from malignancy: a case report.

Background: Immunoglobulin G4-related disease (IgG4-RD) is characterized by the formation of inflammatory lesions with fibrosis and infiltration of IgG4-positive plasma cells and lymphocytes in various organs of the body. Since the first report of IgG4-related autoimmune pancreatitis, IgG4-RD affecting various organs has been reported; however, only a few reports of IgG4-related lung disease (IgG4-RLD) exist. In this report, we describe a case of IgG4-RLD that was difficult to differentiate from malignancy, and the usefulness of the surgical approach in determining the appropriate diagnosis and treatment plan.

Background And Aim: The majority of patients with eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) are likely to have observable features under narrow-band imaging, namely beige mucosa. However, the histological features and clinical implications of beige mucosa have not been investigated. The aim of this study was to determine whether beige mucosa could serve as an endoscopic marker for predicting active inflammatory sites of EoE.

A Text Mining-Based Survey of Pre-Impressions of Medical Staff toward COVID-19 Vaccination in a Designated Medical Institution for Class II Infectious Diseases.

The present study investigated the pre-impressions of medical staff toward coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination in a designated medical institution for class II infectious diseases in Sakaide, Japan using a text mining analysis. A total of 387 medical staff were surveyed on their pre-vaccination impressions toward the COVID-19 vaccine using an open-ended questionnaire from March 1st to 7th (the first survey) and from March 22nd to 28th (the second survey) at Sakaide City Hospital, Sakaide, Japan. A total of 296 people answered the question for the first time and 234 people answered for the second time among the 387 people.

An Evaluation of Endoscopic Images from Over 15 Years Prior to the Diagnosis of Autoimmune Gastritis: A Report of Three Patients.

We herein describe three patients whose endoscopic images from over 15 years prior to their diagnosis of autoimmune gastritis (AIG) were available for review. All patients had corpus-dominant atrophic gastritis at the time of the diagnosis of AIG. Previous endoscopic images without severe atrophy showed erythema restricted to the fundic mucosa.

Prevalence of Autoimmune Disease in Patients with Eosinophilic Esophagitis: A Cross-sectional Study of Three Hospitals in Japan.

Objective Recent studies have found higher rates of autoimmune diseases, such as celiac disease, Crohn's disease, and ulcerative colitis, in patients with eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) than in the general population. This study investigated the concomitant rate of autoimmune disease among Japanese patients with EoE and evaluated the clinicopathological characteristics of EoE patients with autoimmune disease. Methods The medical records of patients diagnosed with EoE between April 1, 2016, and June 30, 2020, were reviewed.

: The aim of the present study was to investigate the relationship between the number of deaths due to renal failure and air temperature parameters in Hokkaido (the northernmost region) and Okinawa (the southernmost region) prefectures, Japan. : Monthly data on the number of deaths due to renal failure between January 2008 and December 2016 and annual population data were collected from the Hokkaido and Okinawa official prefecture websites. Air temperature parameters were obtained from the Japan Meteorological Agency.

Oncolytic Virus Therapy with HSV-1 for Hematological Malignancies.

Oncolytic herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) has been investigated to expand its application to various malignancies. Because hematopoietic cells are resistant to HSV-1, its application to hematological malignancies has been rare. Here, we show that the third generation oncolytic HSV-1, T-01, infected and killed 18 of 26 human cell lines and 8 of 15 primary cells derived from various lineages of hematological malignancies.

Clinical and endoscopic characteristics of eosinophilic esophagitis in Japan: a case-control study.

Background: Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) is an allergy-associated clinicopathologic condition gaining an increasing amount of recognition in various areas of the world. While the clinical definition and characteristics may differ depending on country and region, sufficient studies have not yet been performed in Japan.

Objective: To assess the prevalence of EoE among the Japanese population and the clinical features associated with the disease.

A 77-year-old man vomited after alcohol drinking and was sent to our hospital by an ambulance due to sustained chest pain. Chest computed tomography (CT) showed pneumothorax and pleural effusion, and thoracic drainage was performed. Since food residue was found from chest drainage and esophagoscopy and esophagography showed injured potion on the left wall of the lower thoracic esophagus perforating to the left thoracic cavity, a spontaneous esophageal rupture was diagnosed.
