Context: Nontraumatic shoulder pain (NSP) is common in volleyball, affecting performance and well-being. It is more prevalent in female players. Previous studies lack comprehensive assessments of shoulder pain that consider multiple factors, including range of motion, muscle strength, joint position sense, dynamic stability, and volleyball-specific mechanics.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the feasibility and clinical outcomes of vasa vasorum embolization for preventing continuous aneurysmal expansion after endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR). We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of patients who underwent vasa vasorum embolization between August 2018 and May 2022. Vasa vasorum embolization was attempted in cases of continuous aneurysmal expansion after EVAR, where the vasa vasorum was identified through catheter angiography.

Background: Air leakage during pulmonary resection is a major complication in thoracic surgery. It frequently occurs at sites of adhesion dissection, due to lung manipulation, and along the staple lines of automatic suturing devices, particularly in cases of pulmonary fragility such as those of emphysema and interstitial pneumonia. Persistent postoperative air leakage prolongs chest tube indwelling and extends hospitalization time.

Introduction Sutureless enterostomy is used as an effective technique for constructing an enterostomy in very low and extremely low birth weight infants in Japan. Sutureless enterostomy is a separate type of enterostomy procedure for low birth weight infants. We adapted this technique and developed sutureless loop enterostomy (SLE), an approach without a skin bridge in which the intestinal wall is not sutured to the abdominal wall.

Background: The Senhance digital laparoscopic system (Senhance) is a surgical robot approved for use in Japan after the da Vinci system. Our institution was the first to introduce this system, which has been used primarily for gastrointestinal surgery. The Senhance robotic system (Asensus Surgical, Durham, NC, USA) is an innovative platform for minimally invasive surgery. It enables surgeons to perform precise and cost-effective procedures using reusable instruments and has advanced features such as haptic feedback and eye-tracking camera control. Herein, we present the first application of the "double bipolar method" (DBM) in a Senhance-assisted laparoscopic partial cystectomy utilizing 3 mm Maryland bipolar instruments.

Development and validation of the Japanese version of the Public Attitudes Toward Epilepsy (PATE-J) Scale.

Aim: This study aimed to develop and validate a Japanese version of the Public Attitudes Toward Epilepsy (PATE-J) Scale to measure attitudes towards epilepsy among the general Japanese population.

Methods: The study employed a cross-sectional design using an online survey of 537 participants from the general public in Japan, with follow-up surveys at 2 weeks and 3 months. The PATE Scale was translated following standard guidelines and validated by conducting confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) on the complete data set to assess the original two-factor structure of the PATE Scale.

Objective: Ventricular assist device (VAD) serves as either a bridge to transplantation (BTT) or destination therapy (DT) for end-stage heart failure. In Japan, the extended wait time for heart transplants can make VAD usage for BTT comparable in duration to DT in other countries. Previous studies suggest that while DT patients experience improved quality of life post-VAD implantation, BTT patients often see a decline after two years.
