Vitamin D deficiency during infancy has been associated with increased bone turnover rate and bone mineral loss. However, few studies have examined bone turnover markers (BTMs) for both bone formation and resorption in infants with vitamin D deficiency. Here, we analyzed serum concentrations of 25OHD, intact parathormone (iPTH), and BTMs including total alkaline phosphatase (ALP), tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase isoform 5b (TRACP-5b), and serum type I collagen N-telopeptide (NTx) as well as basic clinical characteristics of 456 infants (626 samples) aged less than 12 mo born at Saitama City Hospital, Japan (latitude 35.

Purpose: To predict side effects and optimize injection doses in the dosimetry of Lu imaging, highly accurate quantitative SPECT images are required. Monte Carlo simulations were performed to verify the accuracy and variability of quantitative values for Lu imaging under various imaging conditions.
Methods: SPECT data of NEMA body phantom were assumed to simulate intrahepatic tumors 6 h after administration of 7.

Hemoglobin vesicles (HbVs), considered as red blood cell substitutes, are liposomes encapsulating purified hemoglobin, with a phospholipid bilayer membrane (diameter: 250 nm; P50, 28 Torr). In this study, we aimed to investigate HbV function during hemorrhagic shock in lung resection and analyze the details of oxygen delivery. Left pneumonectomy was performed in dogs under mechanical ventilation, followed by rapid exsanguination of approximately 30% of the total circulating blood volume, which led to shock, reducing the mean arterial pressure (MAP) by approximately 60% of baseline.

Background: Some patients with food protein-induced enterocolitis (FPIES)-like allergy do not completely fulfill the diagnostic criteria of the international consensus guideline for FPIES. However, it is unclear whether such FPIES-like patients represent a completely different population from FPIES.
Objective: This study aimed to clarify differences in characteristics between patients with FPIES who fully met diagnostic criteria and those who partly met them.

Purpose: Lenvatinib achieves favorable therapeutic outcomes for patients with radioactive iodine therapy refractory differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC); however, its use is associated with a high incidence of adverse events. To avoid severe adverse events, planned drug holidays (PDH) have been proposed. This study aimed to evaluate treatment effects, identify prognostic factors, and investigate the usefulness of PDH in patients with unresectable DTC who received lenvatinib across the multi-institutions.

Objective: We describe a patient with leukemia-related chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH) who was successfully treated using the combination of surgical evacuation and middle meningeal artery (MMA) embolization.
Case Presentation: A 73-year-old man without apparent head trauma history was admitted to our hospital because of acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Head CT on admission revealed mild CSDH on both sides.

Aims: The discontinuation of oral anticoagulants (OACs) remains as a significant concern in the management of atrial fibrillation (AF). The discontinuation rate may vary depending on management strategy, and physicians may also discontinue OACs due to concerns about patient satisfaction with their care. We aimed to assess the incidence of OAC discontinuation and its relationship to patients' health in an outpatient AF registry.

Japanese Multicenter Study for Adrenal Crisis (JMSAC), Tokyo 160-8582, Japan.
Context: Adrenal crisis (AC) is a life-threatening complication that occurs during follow-up of patients with adrenal insufficiency (AI). No prospective study has thoroughly investigated AC in children with primary and secondary AI.
Objective: This work aimed to determine the incidence and risk factors for AC in patients with pediatric-onset AI.

Objective: There is no established consensus or guidelines for wound management after revascularization for patients with chronic limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI) without severe infection. This study is designed to evaluate the clinical effect of the wound management strategy on toe wounds after revascularization for CLTI.
Methods: This retrospective cohort study was performed at eight institutions affiliated with Keio University School of Medicine in Japan and included 261 patients who underwent revascularization for CLTI between April 2019 and July 2021.

Context: Primary adrenal insufficiency (PAI) is a life-threatening condition characterized by the inability of the adrenal cortex to produce sufficient steroid hormones. E3 ubiquitin protein ligase zinc and ring finger 3 (ZNRF3) is a negative regulator of Wnt/β-catenin signaling. R-spondin 1 (RSPO1) enhances Wnt/β-catenin signaling via binding and removal of ZNRF3 from the cell surface.

Objective: To create a recurrence prediction value (RPV) of high-risk factor and identify the patients with high risk of cancer recurrence.
Background: There are several high-risk factors known to lead to poor outcomes. Weighting each high-risk factor based on their association with increased risk of cancer recurrence can provide a more precise understanding of risk of recurrence.

Background: It is unclear how early- and delayed-onset organ/space surgical site infections (SSIs) affect the long-term prognosis of patients with colorectal cancer, who are potential candidates for adjuvant chemotherapy. This study aimed to investigate the association between the timing of SSI onset and clinical outcome.
Methods: This retrospective, multicenter cohort study evaluated patients who were diagnosed with high-risk stage II or III colorectal cancer and underwent elective surgery between 2010 and 2020.
