A 72-year-old man with a history of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD)was diagnosed with type 3 gastric cancer at the posterior wall of the gastric body. Although there was no distant metastasis in preoperative imaging tests, pulmonary function test revealed severe obstructive ventilatory impairment, suggesting that the patient had high risks of perioperative pulmonary complications. After treatment for COPD and preoperative pulmonary rehabilitation under hospitalization for 2 weeks, laparoscopic distal gastrectomy plus D2 lymphadenectomy plus Roux-en-Y reconstruction was performed.

Purpose: To investigate differences in outcomes of uterine artery embolization (UAE) for leiomyoma when performed during different phases of the menstrual cycle.

Materials And Methods: In this single-institution retrospective analysis, 111 premenopausal patients (median [range] age, 44 [33-52] years) undergoing UAE for symptomatic leiomyoma between June 2014 and February 2020 were included. Twenty-one patients underwent UAE in the menstrual phase (the early follicular phase), 27 in the late follicular phase, and 63 in the luteal phase.

The trigeminocerebellar artery (TCA) is an infrequent anatomic anomaly of the branches originating from the basilar artery. It is clinically identifiable by the presence of the ipsilateral superior cerebellar artery and the anterior inferior cerebellar artery, and its course from the basilar artery to the cerebellar hemisphere. Background: The indication of surgical resection for liver metastasis from gastric cancer (GC) is still limited and controversial because of its more aggressive oncological characteristics than liver metastasis from colorectal cancer. Pyloric stenosis causes an inadequate oral intake and malnutrition in GC patients. Posterior lumbar subcutaneous edema (PLSE) is often found on MRI in adults with obesity or various lumbar conditions. We report a case of a 6-year-old boy with IgA vasculitis (Henoch-Schönlein purpura) along with PSLE observed on CT and MRI. Background: One possibly problematic feature of lumboperitoneal shunt (LPS) placement involves inaccuracy in handling the shunt valve compared with ventriculoperitoneal shunt. Flushing the valve to ascertain shunt patency and adjusting the valve pressure in LPS are often more difficult than with ventriculoperitoneal shunt, particularly when the valve is routinely located in abdominal fat. Background: Cerebral autosomal dominant arteriopathy with subcortical infarcts and leukoencephalopathy (CADASIL) is an orphan disease clinically characterized by migraine, recurrent strokes, and dementia. Currently, there are no disease-modifying therapies, and it is difficult to prevent cerebral ischemic events in CADASIL patients by conventional antithrombotic medication.
