Background: Repeat endoscopic submucosal dissection for metachronous recurrence of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma close to previous endoscopic submucosal dissection scars is challenging. Therefore, this study evaluated the efficacy and safety of repeat endoscopic submucosal dissection for recurrent esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.
Methods: The study included 1680 patients.

Objective: This study aimed to determine the impact of infrapopliteal (IP) revascularisation establishing in line flow to the wound (IFW) on wound healing in chronic limb threatening ischaemia (CLTI), using a core laboratory assessment for wounds and in line flow.
Methods: The Wound directed Angiosome RevasculaRIsation apprOach to patients with cRitical limb iSchaemia (WARRIORS) multicentre observational study enrolled patients with CLTI with tissue loss undergoing IP revascularisation in Japan, with scheduled two year follow up. The primary outcome measure was complete wound healing, defined as achievement of complete epithelialisation of all wounds without major amputation.

Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of embolization with or without portal vein stenting for bleeding ectopic jejunal varices in the hepatopetal portal collateral due to extrahepatic portal vein occlusion or stenosis after hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery.
Materials And Methods: This study included consecutive patients who underwent embolization for bleeding ectopic jejunal varices in the hepatopetal collateral due to extrahepatic portal vein occlusion or stenosis after hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery between September 2012 and December 2020. The safety, technical and clinical success rates (no re-bleeding within 1 month) and re-bleeding-free survival after the first therapy and overall survival were assessed.

Background: Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is characterized by enthesitis. As persistent inflammation around joints results in bone and cartilage destruction and physical impairment, a detailed assessment of inflammation is essential. We previously reported the difference between clinical assessment (tenderness) and ultrasound (US) assessment (inflammation) of entheses.

Background/aim: Sorafenib and lenvatinib have long been used as a first-line treatment for advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Along with the development of systemic chemotherapy for HCC, the concept of conversion hepatectomy has recently become widespread. The present study aimed to assess the clinical outcomes of sorafenib and lenvatinib for HCC regarding the possibility of conversion hepatectomy in clinical practice.

Background: Sirolimus-coated balloons (SCB) for the treatment of femoropopliteal (FP) lesions have not been systematically studied, but initial outcomes from early studies are promising.
Objectives: The authors sought to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the SELUTION SLR SCB, composed of proprietary microreservoir technology combining sirolimus and biodegradable polymer, when used to treat mild-to-moderate FP disease in a Japanese population.
Methods: This multicenter, prospective, single-arm study (SELUTION SFA JAPAN) enrolled 134 patients with FP disease.

Nasal fractures are commonly treated using nasal packing as an internal splint after performing closed reduction. Although gauze and polyvinyl alcohol sponge (PVAS) are both commonly used for packing, few reports have compared their efficacy and safety in nasal fracture treatment. Therefore, in this study, the authors, aimed to retrospectively compare the efficacy and safety of gauze packing in 208 patients and PVAS packing in 225 patients who underwent closed reduction at our hospital.

Purpose: In the present trial, the 24-month safety and effectiveness of the TCD-17187 drug-coated balloon (DCB) for the treatment of atherosclerotic lesions in the superficial femoral artery (SFA) and proximal popliteal artery (PA) were evaluated in Japanese patients.
Methods: This was a prospective, multicenter, core laboratory-adjudicated, single-arm trial. From 2019 to 2020, 121 patients with symptomatic peripheral artery disease were enrolled.

Background: Isatuximab, an anti-CD38 antibody, has been widely used in treatments for patients with relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma (MM). Despite its high efficacy, not all patients achieve a lasting therapeutic response with isatuximab.
Objective: We tried to identify biomarkers to predict the effectiveness of isatuximab by focusing on the host's immune status before treatment.

Background: Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) and autosomal recessive polycystic kidney disease (ARPKD) are major genetic polycystic kidney diseases that can progress to end-stage kidney disease (ESKD). Longitudinal data on the clinical characteristics associated with clinical outcomes in polycystic kidney disease (PKD), including the development of ESKD and cardiovascular disease (CVD) are lacking in Japan. To address this unmet need the authors are establishing a novel, web-based, Nationwide Cohort Registry Study-the Japanese Registry of PKD (JRP).

Background And Purpose: Because myxoid liposarcomas are more radiosensitive than other soft tissue sarcomas, there have been several reports of 50 Gy preoperative radiation therapy combined with surgery, but the wound complication rate is reportedly high. We have performed preoperative irradiation at a reduced dose of 40 Gy and definitive radiation therapy for unresectable cases. This study aimed to report the tumor reduction rate and oncological results with a reduced dose of preoperative irradiation and the outcome of definitive irradiation for unresectable cases.

Non-thermal atmospheric-pressure plasma (NTAPP) is attracting widespread interest for use in medical applications. The tissue repair capacity of NTAPP has been reported in various fields; however, little is known about its effect on fracture healing. Non-union or delayed union after a fracture is a clinical challenge.

Background: It remains controversial whether meniscal repair causes meniscal extrusion. This study aimed to investigate the effect of inside-out meniscal repair on meniscal dimensions in patients with meniscal tear of the mid-body-posterior horn.
Methods: This retrospective study included 75 patients who underwent meniscal repair followed by MRI within 2 weeks after surgery between 2020 and 2022.

Severe cases of hemolysis, elevated liver enzymes, and low platelet (HELLP) syndrome requiring plasma exchange or dialysis should be differentiated from other thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA) and treated appropriately. To evaluate the prevalence and clinical characteristics of such cases in Japan, a questionnaire-based survey was conducted among obstetricians who are members of the Perinatal Research Network Group in Japan. There were a total of 335 cases of HELLP syndrome over a 3-year period in the 48 facilities that responded to the survey.

Background: Whether intraluminal drug-coated balloon (DCB) angioplasty is superior to subintimal DCB angioplasty regarding femoropopliteal (FP) chronic total occlusion (CTO) outcomes has not been systematically determined.
Objectives: The aim of this study was to compare the 1-year clinical outcomes of intraluminal and subintimal DCB angioplasty for the treatment of patients with symptomatic FP CTO.
Methods: This subanalysis of POPCORN (Prospective Multi-Center Registry of Drug-Coated Balloon for Femoropopliteal Disease) evaluated 469 lesions in 469 symptomatic patients with lower extremity artery disease who presented with FP CTO and underwent DCB treatment.

A 73-year-old woman with lung adenocarcinoma (cT4N3M1a: Stage IVA) was treated with atezolizumab as the eighth line of therapy. Four weeks after the fourth dose of atezolizumab, the prothrombin time (PT) and activated thromboplastin time (APTT) were prolonged. Coagulation factor V (FV) activity was decreased, and FV inhibitors were observed.
