Background: Mutations in the LRRK2 gene are the most common genetic cause of Parkinson disease but are believed to play no significant role in Lewy body disease (LBD).
Objectives: As the frequency of G2019S LRRK2 mutation is extremely high in North African patients with Parkinson disease, we postulate that the high prevalence of LBD in North Africa might be due to the same mutation because LBD and Parkinson disease share many clinical, pathological, and genetic features.
Methods: We screened patients with LBD or prodromal LBD for the G2019S mutation of LRRK2.

According to the European Union (EU) Directive 2005/36, the medical specialty of oral and maxillofacial surgery (OMFS) exists with two possible formats: dual degree OMFS called Dental, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (DOMFS) - basic medical and basic dental training and single medical degree Maxillofacial Surgery (MFS). Within the EU and across all of Europe, differences in the nature and quality of OMFS training coexist. By implementing the highest possible standards of training, patient care can be improved.

Background: No study has compared the virological and immunological status of young people with perinatally-acquired HIV infection (P-HIV) with that of people with HIV adulthood (A-HIV) having a similar duration of infection.
Methods: 5 French cohorts of P-HIV and A-HIV patients with a known date of HIV-infection and receiving antiretroviral treatment (ART), were used to compare the following proportions of: virological failure (VF) defined as plasma HIV RNA ≥ 50 copies/mL, CD4 cell percentages and CD4:CD8 ratios, at the time of the most recent visit since 2012. The analysis was stratified on time since infection, and multivariate models were adjusted for demographics and treatment history.

Medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ) poses a significant challenge considering the absence of a "gold standard" treatment. Cell-based therapy and tissue engineering offer promising therapeutic alternatives. This study aimed to harness the regenerative properties of adipose-tissue stromal vascular fraction (AT-SVF) and leukocyte-platelet-rich fibrin (L-PRF) for MRONJ treatment.

Introduction: Amyloidosis is a group of diseases characterized by extracellular deposits of abnormal insoluble proteins in different tissues. Amyloidoma is a localized tumoral deposit of amyloid in the absence of systemic amyloidosis, and it has been described in different anatomic sites. We report two cases of amyloidoma in the nail unit and provide insights into this recently described entity.

Intercellular communication, through direct and indirect cell contact, is mandatory in multicellular organisms. These last years, the microenvironment, and in particular, transfer by extracellular vesicles (EVs), has emerged as a new communication mechanism. Different biological fluids and cell types are common sources of EVs.

Objective: The adipogenic PPARG-encoded PPARγ nuclear receptor also displays essential placental functions. We evaluated the metabolic, reproductive, and perinatal features of patients with PPARG-related lipodystrophy.
Methods: Current and retrospective data were collected in patients referred to a National Rare Diseases Reference Centre.

Background: In older people, dementia is a well-established risk factor for falls. However, the association and the causal relationship between falls and the earlier stages of cognitive impairment remains unclear. The purpose of the study was to review the literature data on the association between falls and cognitive impairment, no dementia, including Mild Cognitive Impairment.

Background: The basis of the less severe clinical presentation of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in children as compared with adults remains incompletely understood. Studies have suggested that a more potent boosting of immunity to endemic common cold coronaviruses (HCoVs) may protect children.
Methods: To test this hypothesis, we conducted a detailed analysis of antibodies induced by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection in children aged 2 months to 14 years.

Bckground And Objectives: EUS-guided cystogastrostomy is a well-established advanced endoscopic technique with a steep-learning curve which necessitates an ex-vivo simulator that would allow for adequate training. The aim of this study is to evaluate the feasibility of the model in allowing training for EUS-guided cystogastrostomy using lumen-apposing metal stent (LAMS).
Subjects And Methods: The model was created by ROEYA Training Center, Egypt, using native porcine tissue to create fluid collections simulating both cystic and solid lesions.

A subset of benign peripheral nerve sheath tumors are "hybrid" combining several lines of differentiation, most often schwannian and perineurial features. The pathogenesis of these tumors was poorly described until the recent discovery of recurrent VGLL3 rearrangements in hybrid schwannoma/perineuriomas, supporting the hypothesis that this entity represents a distinct subgroup of tumors and not only a morphologic variation of other peripheral nerve sheath tumors. Following this finding, we investigated 10 cases of hybrid peripheral nerve sheath tumors with immunohistochemistry, RNA sequencing, and array comparative genomic hybridization.

Background: Several electrocardiographic (ECG) indices have been proposed to predict the origin of premature ventricular complexes (PVCs) with precordial transition in lead V. However, the accuracy of these algorithms is limited.
Objectives: We sought to evaluate a new ECG criterion differentiating the origin of outflow tract with precordial transition in lead V.

Background And Aims: Complex aortic atheroma (CAA) is a common cause of acute brain ischemia (BI), including ischemic stroke (IS) and transient ischemic attack (TIA), and is associated with recurrence. The CHA2DS2-VASc score is a useful tool for predicting stroke in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF), and can also predict cardiovascular events in other populations, including non-AF populations. The ADAM-C score is a new risk score for predicting the diagnostic yield of transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) after BI.

Quality in colonoscopy has been promoted in last decade with definition of different quality indicators (QI) as benchmarks. Currently, automatized monitoring systems are lacking, especially for merging pathologic and endoscopic data, which limits quality monitoring implementation in daily practice. We describe an adapted endoscopy reporting system that allows continuous QI recording, with automatic pathological data inclusion.
