Among the challenges related to rechargeable magnesium batteries (RMBs) still not resolved are positive electrode materials with sufficient charge storage and rate capability as well as stability and raw material resources. Out of the materials proposed and studied so far, vanadium oxides stand out for these requirements, but significant further improvements are expected and required. They will be based on new materials and an improved understanding of their mode of operation.

The bacterial infection and poor osseointegration of Ti implants could significantly compromise their applications in bone repair and replacement. Based on the carrier separation ability of the heterojunction and the redox reaction of pseudocapacitive metal oxides, we report an electrically responsive TiO-SnO-RuO coating with a multilayered heterostructure on a Ti implant. Owing to the band gap structure of the TiO-SnO-RuO coating, electron carriers are easily enriched at the coating surface, enabling a response to the endogenous electrical stimulation of the bone.

Protein arginine methyltransferase 5 (PRMT5) is over-expressed in a wide variety of cancers and is implicated as having a key oncogenic role, achieved in part through its control of the master transcription regulator E2F1. We investigated the relevance of PRMT5 and E2F1 in neuroblastoma (NB) and found that elevated expression of PRMT5 and E2F1 occurs in poor prognosis high-risk disease and correlates with an amplified Myelocytomatosis viral-related oncogene, neuroblastoma-derived (MYCN) gene. Our results show that MYCN drives the expression of splicing factor genes that, together with PRMT5 and E2F1, lead to a deregulated alternative RNA splicing programme that impedes apoptosis.

Background: The most common cause of hyperandrogenism in women is polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), the prevalence of which among women of reproductive age ranges from 8.0 to 21%. The clinical manifestations of PCOS are diverse, and the degree of metabolic and hormonal disorders depends on the PCOS phenotype.

Tissue adhesion of hydrogels plays an important role in wound healing, which can improve the efficiency of wound treatment, stop bleeding, facilitate tissue growth and wound closure. However, most non-covalent crosslinked hydrogels have weak tissue adhesion and rheological properties. Furthermore, it remains a challenge to synthesize a fully physically crosslinked hydrogel with good rheological properties without compromising its tissue adhesion strength.

The ammonia/ammonium (NH/NH, AM) concentration in human erythrocytes (RBCs) is significantly higher than in plasma. Two main possible mechanisms for AM transport, including simple and facilitated diffusion, are described; however, the driving force for AM transport is not yet fully characterized. Since the erythroid ammonium channel RhAG forms a structural unit with anion exchanger 1 (eAE1) within the ankyrin core complex, we hypothesized the involvement of eAE1 in AM transport.

Molecular genetic events are among the numerous factors affecting the clinical course of papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC). Recent studies have demonstrated that aberrant expression of miRNA, as well as different thyroid-related genes, correlate with the aggressive clinical course of PTC and unfavorable treatment outcomes, which opens up new avenues for using them in the personalization of the treatment strategy for patients with PTC. In the present work, our goal was to assess the applicability of molecular markers in the preoperative diagnosis of aggressive variants of papillary thyroid cancer.

There is scarce evidence of a relationship between positive and psychosomatic characteristics. This study aimed to examine the associations of somatic burden with psychological resources such as optimism, resilience, and general self-efficacy. Russian participants (n = 1020) completed measures of psychological resources at Time 1 and somatic symptoms at Time 2.

The last two decades have witnessed significant progress in the development of severe plastic deformation techniques to produce ultrafine-grained materials with new and superior properties. This review examines works and achievements related to the low-temperature superplasticity of ultrafine-grained aluminum alloys. The examples are provided of the possibility to observe low-temperature superplasticity in aluminum alloys at temperatures less than 0.

In the present report, a novel dual pH-O sensor based on covalent conjugate of rhodamine 6G and cyclometalated iridium complex with poly(vinylpyrrolidone-block-vinyltetrazole) copolymer is reported. In model physiological solutions the sensor chromophores display independent phosphorescent and fluorescent lifetime responses onto variations in oxygen concentration and pH, respectively. Colocalization studies on Chinese hamster ovary cells demonstrate the preferential localization in endosomes and lysosomes.

Magnetic topological insulators (TIs) herald a wealth of applications in spin-based technologies, relying on the novel quantum phenomena provided by their topological properties. Particularly promising is the (MnBiTe)(BiTe) layered family of established intrinsic magnetic TIs that can flexibly realize various magnetic orders and topological states. High tunability of this material platform is enabled by manganese-pnictogen intermixing, whose amounts and distribution patterns are controlled by synthetic conditions.

Copper (Cu) toxicity in crops is a result of excessive release of Cu into environment. Little is known about mitigation of Cu toxicity through the application of carbon-based nanomaterials including water-soluble fullerene C derivatives. Two derivatives of fullerene were examined: polyhydroxylated C (fullerenol) and arginine C derivative.

The significant prevalence of periodontal diseases in elderly patients makes the research relevant. By now, the issues of complex clinical and radiological semiotics of generalized periodontitis using high-tech research methods is not sufficiently studied. The research addressed the clinical picture and three-dimensional computed tomographic semiotics of severe chronic generalized periodontitis focusing 25 elderly patients with severe chronic generalized periodontitis.

Playing a key role in the organization of striatal motor output, the dopamine (DA)-ergic system regulates both innate and complex learned behaviors. Growing evidence clearly indicates the involvement of the DA-ergic system in different forms of repetitive (perseverative) behavior. Some of these behaviors accompany such disorders as obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), Tourette's syndrome, schizophrenia, and addiction.

The extraction of museum DNA from a unique collection of samples of the "" species complex, which comprises local endemics of Central and West Asia, allowed us to determine their inter- and intragroup relationships. The first step of this study was the re-evaluation of heavily damaged type specimens of via a microcomputed-tomography-based cybertaxonomic approach (CTtax), which enabled a precise description of the species' morphology; three-dimensional models of the cybertypes were made available through the MorphoBank Repository. We developed the "AProMaDesU" pipeline on the basis of five requirements for micro-CT-based cyber-datasets in relation to mammalian collections.

Objectives: This survey assessed psychiatry residents'/early-career psychiatrists' attitudes towards the utility of therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) of antipsychotics.
Methods: A previously developed questionnaire on attitudes on TDM utility during antipsychotic treatment was cross-sectionally disseminated by national coordinators between 01/01/2022-31/12/2023. The frequency of using TDM for antipsychotics other than clozapine was the main outcome in a linear regression analysis, including sex, clinical setting, caseload, and factors generated by an exploratory factor analysis.
