Effect of carboxylic acids - structurally related to amino acids, on the proliferation activity of the cells in organotypic cultures of brain cortex (ectodermal genesis) and liver (entodermal genesis) tissues was first studied in young and old rats. It was found that some aliphatic carboxylic acids have stimulating effects on proliferative activity of cells. Only acetic acid inhibited proliferation.

[Prospects of buccal epithelium application for noninvasive diagnosis of coronary heart disease in people of different age.].

Cardiovascular diseases caused by atherosclerosis, in many countries of the world are one of the most important social and economic problems due to the high morbidity and mortality rate of the working population. Recently, the immunological theory of atherosclerosis and coronary heart disease (CHD) has been actively developed, and the search for markers of inflammation characterizing immuno- and atherogenesis has been conducted. Buccal epithelium (BE) can be used as biological material for in vivo molecular-cellular studies, allowing to diagnose CHD by inflammation markers.

[Perspectives of intravascular ultrasound during the myocardial revascularization of elderly and senile patients].

Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS) of coronary arteries has lately been extensively used in the routine work of catheter laboratories. This method`s availability for qualifying the structure of atherosclerosis plague, degree of stricture formation in artery opening, length of the plaque while choosing the relevant size of stent and also for stent apposition control after implantation, makes IVUS an irreplaceable help in endovascular surgeons` work. Combination of coronary angiography and IVUS best represents the plaqued segments of artery total picture.

[Density of the endotheliocytic layer of the cornea of the eyeball as a function of age].

This article presents the results of measuring the number of corneal endotheliocytes in a unit area of descemet membrane surface in 546 volunteers of different ages. The average values of the density of the corneal posterior epithelium for the age intervals 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80 years and older are shown, a constant decrease in the number of endotheliocyte cells as the number of years lived increases.

[Effects of vascular peptide bioregulator on cerebral microcirculation of old hypertensive rats].

Using a TV device to study brain microcirculation, we found that after a course of vascular peptide bioregulator the density of microvascular network of pia matter of old hypertensive rats (12 months) sensomotor cortex increased about 1,7 times compared to intact old rates SHR. This perfusion in the tissue of the cerebral cortex and the degree of blood oxygen saturation in the microvasculature of this tissue region raised.

[A new stage of development of gerontology and geriatrics in Russia: Problems o creation of a geriatric care system. Part 2. The structure of the system, scientific approach].

The publication is the second part of the analytical review on the new stage of development of gerontology and geriatrics in Russia. Components of social support system for senior citizens and the structure of social-medical care as its crucial components are presented. The problem of positioning of geriatric care within the system of social support for senior citizens, as well as its peculiarities and the algorithm providing geriatric care are discussed.

[Pineamin increased pineal melatonin synthesis in elderly people].

It was investigated the influence of polypeptide complex Pineamin on the 6-sulfatoxymelatonin (aMT6S) excretion in urine by ELISA test of 55 elderly patients with diminished melatoninsynthesis pineal gland function. Pineamin in course dose 100 mg has increased night level of aMT6S urine excretion in 1,9 times in comparison with relevant value untreated. Similar effect was obtained early for medical drug Epithalamin.

[Aging of the myocardium and dilated cardiomyopathy: morphological and molecular aspects].

The review considers various aspects of myocardium aging in normal and dilated cardiomyopathy (DC). There is a partial fibrosis of the heart tissue due to accumulation of collagen type 1, and accumulation of amyloid during normal aging. Men myocardial aging is accompanied by loss of cardiomyocytes and increased volume of the remaining cells, whereas in women this effect is absent.

[Results of troponin I testing by high sensitive method in three age groups of healthy population].

Article is about troponin I testing by high sensitive method in healthy population group. 165 people (employees of hospital) were examined, 71 % - women and 29 % - men. Inclusion criteria were as follows: absence of active complaints at the time of health examination and during the previous 30 days.

[A new stage of development of gerontology and geriatrics in Russia: problems of creation of a geriatric care system. Part 1. Relevance, regulatory infrastructure].

This article is a 1st part of the analytical review, focused on a new step in development of geriatrics in Russia. Creation of state system geriatric care as important part of state politics in the area of enhancement of quality of life was proved. General aspects of improvement of social support of disable elderly persons in condition of restricted budget and interagency separation was presented.

[Age peculiarities in prostate cancer detection based on the prostate-specific antigen and its alterations control].

Data on epidemiology of a prostate cancer are presented in article, high prevalence and body height of a case rate cause relevance of researches on this oncopathology. It is shown that the number augmentation for the first time of the taped cases is bound including to the program of a screening of inspection of men by determination of level of prostates-specific antigen (PSA). Modern diagnostic methods of identification of modifications of PSA, possessing larger sensitivity and specificity concerning a prostate cancer are lit.

[Melatonin as a molecular marker of age-related pathologies].

The review has described melatonin as a prognostic marker of invasive and non-invasive diagnostic of organism aging time and age-related pathology. Decreasing of melatonin level in buccal cells has correlated with patient age. Melatonin level in patients with Alzheimer disease has decreased.

[Effect of genetically coded amino acids and their precursors carboxylic acids on the cellular proliferation in the organotypic culture of spleen in young and old rats].

Effect of carboxylic acids - structurally related to amino acids, on the proliferation activity of the cells in organotypic cultures of rat spleen was first studied. It was found that almost all aliphatic carboxylic acids have stimulating effects on proliferative activity of cells in young and old rats. In contrast only 3 from 14 active amino acids in young rats were able stimulate proliferation, but 11 amino acids inhibited it.

[Oral mucosa reaction in patients adapting to removable dentures].

Oral mucosa reaction of prosthetic bed to the removable acrylic dentures was evaluated in 43 patients (12 male and 31 female) aged 56-69 years with partial and full teeth loss in one or both jaws. Patients of the first (control) group (17 patients) were not using additional tools improving fixation of the removable dentures during adaptation period, while patients of the second (main) group (26 patients) used Corega cream for dentures fixation for 30 days follow-up. Oral mucosa assessment was carried out on 3-4 and 28-30 day of dentures use by 3 end points: pain syndrome, moisture level, inflammation of a prosthetic bed.

[Molecular markers of Alzheimer disease early diagnostic: investigation perspectives of peripheral tissues.].

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder of elderly and old age people. For intravital diagnosis of the expression of signaling molecules - AD markers, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and peripheral tissues are used: lymphocytes and blood platelets, buccal and olfactory epithelium, skin fibroblasts. There are several changes in the production of hyper phosphorylated form of τ-protein, BACE1 and peptide Аβ42 in CSF in case of AD, but CSF taking may have a number of side effects.

[Use of stents with bioactive coating in treatment of patients with lesions of the superficial femoral artery].

The authors analysed the immediate outcomes of implanting stents with bioactive coating in treatment of patients presenting with atherosclerotic lesions of the superficial femoral artery. Experiments on animal models have shown that the introduction of oligopeptides causes geroprotective and adaptogenic effects. In the present work, we investigate the biological action of a number of synthetic oligopeptides using bacterial biosensors.

[Bilateral stenoses of carotids. The surgical treatment in acute period of ischemic stroke in patients of different age groups].

The study included 138 patients who had 193 reconstructive operations on carotid arteries (CA) in the acute period of ischemic stroke. The 1st group included 22 patients with bilateral stenosis, age under 60 years; the 2nd group - 33 patients with a bilateral stenosis at the age more than 60 years; the 3rd group consisted of 83 patients with bilateral stenosis of the ipsilateral CA were operated in an acute period of ischemic stroke, but with contraindications and/or refused the surgery on the contralateral CA. Brain computer tomography, ultrasound duplex scanning of the CA with the assessment degree of stenosis and structure of plaques, also MSCT-AG of the head and neck vessels were performed for all patients.

["Protein of senility" CCL11, "protein of juvenility" GDF11 and their role in age-related pathology].

The paper presents the latest literature data on the structure and functions of «protein of juvenility» - CCL11 and «protein of senility» - GDF11. Chemokine CCL11 injected to young animals has been shown to lead to degenerative changes in the central nervous system (CNS), disturb cognitive functions and impede tissue regeneration. CCL11 concentration increases dramatically in schizophrenia, Alzheimer's disease, neuro-inflammatory disorders, cerebral malaria, drug addiction, as well as in atherosclerosis, periodontal disease, macular degeneration, cancer and other pathologies.

[Molecular aspects of vasoprotective peptide KED activity during atherosclerosis and restenosis].

Peptide KED (Lys-Glu-Asp) has vasoprotective effects and is effective substance in treatment of of atherosclerosis and other cardio-vascular disorders in elderly people. One of the probable mechanisms of biological activity of this peptide is epigenetic genes regulation. These genes can coding proteins, which are markers of endothelium functional activity.

In the review published data on what modern antithrombotic drugs are used to support percutaneous coronary intervention in the treatment of acute coronary syndrome with ST segment elevation on the electrocardiogram in patients of older age groups. It was shown the effectiveness and safety of new pharmacological combinations using both anticoagulants and antiplatelet agents as in patients with acute coronary syndrome in elderly. It was highlighted also the need to find new combinations of anticoagulants and antiplatelet agents, to improve the prognosis in elderly persons subjected to percutaneous coronary intervention in patients with ACS.

[The effect of vascular peptide bioregulator on the microcirculation in the brain cortex of old rats].

Using a TV device to study brain microcirculation, we found that after a course of vascular peptide bioregulator the density of microvascular network of pia matter of old rats (22-24 months) sensomotor cortex increased about 2,5-2,8 times compared to control old rates; and noradrenaline-induced constriction reactions and acetylcholine-induced dilative reactions of the pial arterioles increased significantly. This perfusion in the tissue of the cerebral cortex is not increased, but the degree of blood oxygen saturation in the microvasculature of this tissue region raised.

[Diagnostics of the changes arising in an oral cavity at oncological sick senior age groups (review)].

Article is devoted to the changes happening in an oral cavity and in oral liquid under the influence of preparations of the oncological diseases used for treatment. Considering that research of oral liquid belongs to one of noninvasive methods of diagnostics and can be used with success for definition and correction of conditions of the mucous membrane of an oral cavity at the patients of advanced and senile age passing polychemotherapeutic treatment, this type of research is the extremely perspective for a gerontostomatology.
