Background: The PEXIVAS (Plasma exchange and glucocorticoids in severe antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitis) trial showed that a reduced-dose glucocorticoid regimen (redGC) was non-inferior to a standard-dose regimen (standGC) with respect to death or end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) in patients with ANCA-associated vasculitis (AAV). However, the primary endpoint did not include disease progression or relapse, cyclophosphamide was the main induction therapy and rituximab (RTX)-treated patients tended to have a higher risk of death or ESKD with redGC. We aimed to evaluate the real-world use of redGC.

Malignant peritoneal mesothelioma (MPM) is a rare tumor associated with a poor prognosis and a lack of consensus regarding treatment strategies. While the Checkmate 743 trial demonstrated the superiority of first-line nivolumab and ipilimumab over chemotherapy in malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPlM), few studies have assessed the effectiveness of immunotherapy against MPM, due to its rarity. Here, we report a major and sustained 12-month response in a 74-year-old female patient who received the anti-PD-1 nivolumab and the anti-CTLA4 ipilimumab as first-line therapy for diffuse MPM.

Background: CASSIOPEIA part 1 demonstrated superior depth of response and prolonged progression-free survival with daratumumab in combination with bortezomib, thalidomide, and dexamethasone (D-VTd) versus bortezomib, thalidomide, and dexamethasone (VTd) alone as an induction and consolidation regimen in transplant-eligible patients newly diagnosed with myeloma. In CASSIOPEIA part 2, daratumumab maintenance significantly improved progression-free survival and increased minimal residual disease (MRD)-negativity rates versus observation. Here, we report long-term study outcomes of CASSIOPEIA.

Research Question: How do different warning indicators help to identify disabling dysmenorrhoea among women in young adulthood?
Design: A nationwide cross-sectional study of women aged 18-25 years from the CONSTANCES cohort was constructed. Disability was assessed with the Global Activity Limitation Indicator question 'For the past 6 months, have you been limited in routine activities?Yes, severely limited/Yes, limited/ No, not limited'. Dysmenorrhoea pain intensity and other chronic pelvic pain symptoms (dyspareunia and non-menstrual pain) were evaluated according to questions from a specific questionnaire.

Background: Intracranial solitary fibrous tumour (iSFT) is an exceptional mesenchymal tumour with high recurrence rates. We aimed to analyse the clinical outcomes of newly diagnosed and recurrent iSFTs.
Methods: We carried out a French retrospective multicentre ( = 16) study of histologically proven iSFT cases.

Background: CASSIOPEIA part 1 showed superior depth of response and significantly improved progression-free survival with daratumumab, bortezomib, thalidomide, and dexamethasone (D-VTd) versus bortezomib, thalidomide, and dexamethasone (VTd) as induction and consolidation in patients with autologous stem-cell transplant (ASCT)-eligible newly diagnosed multiple myeloma. In part 2, we compared daratumumab maintenance versus observation only.
Methods: CASSIOPEIA is a two-part, open-label, randomised, phase 3 trial of patients aged 18-65 years with newly diagnosed multiple myeloma and Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status 0-2, done in 111 European academic and community practice centres.

Background: SARS-CoV-2 (severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2) infection is associated with various complications. PMA (primary meningococcal arthritis) is a rare meningococcus-associated disease causing arthritis of the knee usually, without any signs of invasive meningococcal disease. No case of PMA in a COVID-19 (coronavirus disease, 2019) patient has yet been described.

Background: Most cases of left-sided native valve infective endocarditis (IE) involve a single valve and little is known concerning IE that simultaneously affects the aortic and mitral valves.
Methods: We aimed to determine the characteristics, identify the prognostic factors, and define the effect of early surgery for patients with left-sided native bivalvular IE. This analysis included 1340 consecutive patients who presented with definite acute left-sided native valve IE in a 2-centre cohort study.

Background: Sleep apnea leads to cognitive impairment in older patients, but its association with neurodegeneration remains controversial, and most studies do not distinguish between the more common obstructive form (OSAS) and the rarer central form (CSAS).
Objective: The purpose of this study was to assess the prevalence of the different forms of sleep apnea in a cohort of cognitively impaired elderly patients (>70 years) and to investigate their associations with cognitive deficit, weighted against known risk factors for neurodegeneration.
Methods: Overnight polygraphy was performed for 76 consecutive patients admitted to our geriatric unit.

The treatment of scapholunate advanced collapse (SLAC) and scaphoid nonunion advanced collapse (SNAC) wrist varies. No clear consensus exists on surgical indications. Scaphoid excision and four-corner arthrodesis with locking plate is one of preferred treatments for these lesions.

Objectives: In France, there are few up-to-date epidemiological data on breast reconstruction after mastectomy for breast cancer. The objective of the present study was to measure immediate and delayed breast reconstruction (IBR and DBR, respectively) rates and thus the proportion of patients not benefiting from any reconstruction.
Methods: We performed an observational study by assessing data from the French nationwide discharge summary database (Programme de Médicalisation des Systèmes d'Information) for the period 2008-2014.

Introduction: Data are lacking with regard to curative resection of metastasis from small bowel adenocarcinoma (SBA). This study evaluated outcomes and prognostic factors in patients with curatively resected metastatic SBA.
Methods: A series of 34 patients undergoing resection of metastatic SBA from January 2009 to November 2014 at French centers were included into this cohort study.

Intraosseous cysts of the carpus are relatively common benign tumors. They are often discovered by chance and can cause wrist pain thereby requiring appropriate management. While conventional open surgical treatment leads to good results, it has certain disadvantages, the main one being postoperative stiffness.

Background: Familial steroid-sensitive nephrotic syndrome (SSNS) is a rare condition. The disease pathophysiology remains elusive. However, bi-allelic mutations in the EMP2 gene were identified, and specific variations in HLA-DQA1 were linked to a high risk of developing the disease.

We report the clinical case of a male patient who presented, after an aortic valve replacement with a rapid deployment bioprosthesis, a Heyde-like syndrome, secondary to a moderate aortic paravalvular leakage. All the digestive and hematologic investigations confirmed the diagnosis. A redo surgery to fill the paravalvular gap was accomplished and the postoperative course was uneventful, with a normalization of the biological parameters.
