Background/objectives: A modern classification distinguishes between two nosological entities posing an intermediate risk between differentiated and anaplastic carcinoma: poorly differentiated thyroid carcinoma and differentiated high-grade thyroid carcinoma. There are currently few studies searching for the preoperative molecular genetic markers of high-grade papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC HG), primarily because of a recent WHO reclassification and singling out of a separate entity: high-grade follicular cell-derived nonanaplastic thyroid carcinoma. Therefore, this work was aimed at identifying PTC HG-specific microRNAs and mRNAs that reliably distinguish them from differentiated papillary thyroid carcinoma in preoperative cytology specimens (fine-needle aspiration biopsies).

We aim to evaluate stone-free rate (SFR) and complications after flexible ureteroscopy (F-URS) for kidney stones, using a flexible and navigable suction ureteral access sheath (FANS), comparing thulium fiber laser (TFL) and high-power holmium:yttrium-aluminum-garnet laser (HPHL). Data from adults who underwent F-URS in 15 centers were prospectively analyzed (August 2023-January 2024). Exclusion criteria were ureteral stones, concomitant bilateral procedures, and renal abnormalities.

Purpose: To systematically review the use of suction/vacuum-assisted retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS) and percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) in children/adolescents with kidney stones.
Methods: The PICOS model (Patient Intervention Comparison Outcome Study type) was used to frame and answer the clinical question; P: children and adolescent men with kidney stones; I: use of suction during PCNL or RIRS; C: no suction devices or none; O: complications and stone-free rate (SFR); S: prospective and retrospective studies; case reports. The literature search was performed on 14th May 2024 using Embase, PubMed, and Scopus.

Background And Objective: The widespread adoption and rapid integration of new technologies and techniques in endoscopic and laser bladder interventions, particularly endoscopic enucleation, have led to new types of bladder injuries. This underscores the need for an intraoperative injury classification system. This study aims to develop and validate the Bladder Injury Classification System for Endoscopic Procedures (BICEP), which standardizes the classification of complications and intervention requirements.

In post-COVID-19 syndrome, clinical presentation of the nerve fiber dysfunction plays an important role. The possibility of autoantigen cross-mimicry of human coronaviruses and the peripheral nervous system needs to be investigated. The bioinformatic analysis was applied to search for possible common protein sequences located in the immunoreactive epitopes.

Purpose: Traditionally, bilateral urolithiasis treatment involved staged interventions due to safety concerns. Recent studies have shown that same-sitting bilateral retrograde intrarenal surgery (SSB-RIRS) is effective, with acceptable complication rates. However, there's no clear data on the optimum laser for the procedure.

The aim of this study was to construct the sixth in a series of guidelines on the treatment of urolithiasis by the International Alliance of Urolithiasis (IAU) that by providing a clinical framework for the management of pediatric patients with urolithiasis based on the best available published literature. All recommendations were summarized following a systematic review and assessment of literature in the PubMed database from January 1952 to December 2023. Each generated recommendation was graded using a modified GRADE methodology.

Cardiac relaxation is a complex process that involves various interconnected characteristics and, along with contractile properties, determines stroke volume. Perioperative ischemia-reperfusion injury and left ventricular diastolic dysfunction (DD) are characterized by the left ventricle's inability to receive a sufficient blood volume under adequate preload. Baseline DD and perioperative DD have an impact on postoperative complications, length of hospital stay, and major clinical outcomes in a variety of cardiac pathologies.

Aims: Chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS) prevalence varies from 8.4% to 25% of the male population and is associated with diminished health-related quality of life. Managing CP/CPPS remains challenging and there is not any common option to treat all patients effectively because of the complex disease nature.

Currently, all pheochromocytoma/paraganglioma (PPGLs) are considered malignant due to metastatic potential. Consequently, PPGLs are divided into «metastatic» and «non-metastatic». Metastatic PPGLs can be with synchronous metastasis (metastases appear simultaneously with the identified primary tumor) or metachronous (metastases develop after removal of the primary tumor).

The ureteral access sheath (UAS) has been a boon and a bane in flexible ureteroscopy (FURS), with its merits and demerits well established. Its design and dimensions were instrumental in reshaping the way flexible scopes were used and were key adjuncts to establishing retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS) as a standard of care in the endourological management of renal stones. With the ever-changing landscape of RIRS over the decades shaped by technological advancements in lasers and flexible scopes, the UAS has also continuously evolved.

Background: Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) and follicular thyroid carcinoma (FTC) contribute to more than 95% of thyroid malignancies. However, synchronous PTC and FTC are less common; it is most commonly discovered incidentally as synchronous malignancies during operation, which adds difficulties to intraoperative decision-making and postoperative treatment. Therefore, we analyzed the clinicopathological characteristics and prognosis of patients with PTC and FTC in our center.

The remit of this review is confined to experimental works and publications relevant to the integral theory of female urinary incontinence (IT). Since its first publication in 1990, the IT has challenged the general view that the pathogenesis of overactive bladder (OAB) (urge, frequency, nocturia) is unknown and there is no cure. According to the IT, normal function bladder control is binary, either closed or open.

Bladder control is not from the bladder itself but from muscles and ligaments outside of it. Bladder control is binary, either closed or open. Control is exerted cortically, directly and via a peripheral pelvic mechanism comprising three reflex pelvic muscles which contract (variously) against pubourethral ligaments (PULs) anteriorly and uterosacral ligaments (USLs) posteriorly.
