Computational approaches were called for to address the challenges of more objective behavior assessment which would be less reliant on owner reports. This study aims to use computational analysis for investigating a hypothesis that dogs with ADHD-like (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) behavior exhibit characteristic movement patterns directly observable during veterinary consultation. Behavioral consultations of 12 dogs medically treated due to ADHD-like behavior were recorded, as well as of a control group of 12 dogs with no reported behavioral problems.

Engineering solutions based on dynamical chaos may improve the characteristics of various sensors such as metal detectors, salinometers, optical and magnetic field sensors, and so on. In this study, we investigated the possibility of creating inductive sensors based on Sprott chaotic oscillators with a planar printed circuit board inductive coil. Experimental studies were conducted on the effects of lead oxide on the microstructure and the ferroelectric properties of lead zirconate-titanate (PZT) films obtained by the method of radio frequency (RF) magnetron sputtering of a ceramic PZT target and PbO powder with subsequent heat treatment. It is shown that the change in ferroelectric properties of polycrystalline PZT films is attributable to their heterophase structure with impurities of lead oxide. It is also shown that, even in the original stoichiometric PZT film, under certain conditions (temperature above 580 °C, duration greater than 70 min), impurities of lead oxide may be formed.

In this paper, we consider nonlinear integration techniques, based on direct Padé approximation of the differential equation solution, and their application to conservative chaotic initial value problems. The properties of discrete maps obtained by nonlinear integration are studied, including phase space volume dynamics, bifurcation diagrams, spectral entropy, and the Lyapunov spectrum. We also plot 2D dynamical maps to enlighten the features introduced by nonlinear integration techniques.

This paper theoretically and experimentally considers the pulsed mode of operation of the radiation-receiving system. The system contains two identical piezoceramic plates separated by a layer of immersion liquid (glycerin). Objective: The time signature of tracheal noise in the 200-2000 Hz frequency band recorded during a forced expiratory manoeuvre (FET) is a promising tool for diagnosis of bronchial obstructions. FET is typically registered using a microphone with a stethoscope head placed on the neck over the trachea (stethoscope sensor). We studied basic time and spectral parameters of forced expiratory tracheal noises with a microphone placed near the mouth (lapel microphone, outside the flow of exhaled air) and compared these with measurements via stethoscope sensor, with the aim of providing patient home monitoring via standard personal computer facilities.

Despite high-resolution mass spectrometers are becoming accessible for more and more laboratories, tandem (MS/MS) mass spectra are still often collected at a low resolution. And even if acquired at a high resolution, software tools used for their processing do not tend to benefit from that in full, and an ability to specify a relative mass tolerance in this case often remains the only feature the respective algorithms take advantage of. We argue that a more efficient way to analyze high-resolution MS/MS spectra should be with methods more explicitly accounting for the precision level, and sustain this claim through demonstrating that a de novo sequencing framework originally developed for (high-resolution) top-down MS/MS data is perfectly suitable for processing high-resolution bottom-up datasets, even though a top-down like deconvolution performed as the first step will leave in many spectra at most a few peaks.

The current work demonstrates a novel surface acoustic wave (SAW) based phononic crystal sensor approach that allows the integration of a velocimetry-based sensor concept into single chip integrated solutions, such as Lab-on-a-Chip devices. The introduced sensor platform merges advantages of ultrasonic velocimetry analytic systems and a microacoustic sensor approach. It is based on the analysis of structural resonances in a periodic composite arrangement of microfluidic channels confined within a liquid analyte.

Ultrasonic method and experimental setup for study the elastic creep of piezoelectric materials are described. The results of experimental studies of time behavior of the Young's modulus and the internal friction are presented as well as the longitudinal and transversal piezomoduli and the electromechanical coupling factor. Four compositions of piezoelectric ceramics both soft and hard, based on BaTiO and PZT, were compressed for a long time (0÷10s) by significant static loads (0÷120MPa).

It is known that structure of the interface between inorganic nanoparticles and polymers significantly influences properties of a polymer⁻inorganic composite. At the same time, amount of experimental researches on the structure and properties of material near the inorganic-polymer interface is low. In this work, we report for the first time the investigation of nanomechanical properties and maps of adhesion of material near the inorganic-polymer interface for the polyheteroarylene nanocomposites based on semi-crystalline poly[4,4'-bis (4″-aminophenoxy)diphenyl]imide 1,3-bis (3',4-dicarboxyphenoxy) benzene, modified by ZrO₂ nanostars.

The paper outlines a bioinspired approach named "network nervous system" and methods of simulation of infrastructure attacks and protection mechanisms based on this approach. The protection mechanisms based on this approach consist of distributed procedures of information collection and processing, which coordinate the activities of the main devices of a computer network, identify attacks, and determine necessary countermeasures. Attacks and protection mechanisms are specified as structural models using a set-theoretic approach.
