Pericardial fluid is enriched with biologically active molecules of cardiovascular origin including microRNAs. Investigation of the disease-specific extracellular microRNAs could shed light on the molecular processes underlying disease development. Arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC) is an inherited heart disease characterized by life-threatening arrhythmias and progressive heart failure development.

Unique and flexible properties of non-Hermitian photonic systems attract ever-increasing attention via delivering a whole bunch of novel optical effects and allowing for efficient tuning light-matter interactions on nano- and microscales. Together with an increasing demand for the fast and spatially compact methods of light governing, this peculiar approach paves a broad avenue to novel optical applications. Here, unifying the approaches of disordered metamaterials and non-Hermitian photonics, we propose a conceptually new and simple architecture driven by disordered loss-gain multilayers and, therefore, providing a powerful tool to control both the passage time and the wave-front shape of incident light with different switching times.

We analyze the application of the spin locking method to study the spin dynamics and spin-lattice relaxation of nuclear spins-1/2 in liquids or gases enclosed in a nano-cavity. Two cases are considered: when the amplitude of the radio-frequency field is much greater than the local field acting the nucleus and when the amplitude of the radio-frequency field is comparable or even less than the local field. In these cases, temperatures of two spin reservoirs, the Zeeman and dipole ones, change in different ways: in the first case, temperatures of the Zeeman and dipolar reservoirs reach the common value relatively quickly, and then turn to the lattice temperature; in the second case, at the beginning of the process, these temperatures are equal, and then turn to the lattice temperature with different relaxation times.

The rapid development of Internet of Things (IoT) systems has led to the problem of managing and analyzing the large volumes of data that they generate. Traditional approaches that involve collection of data from IoT devices into one centralized repository for further analysis are not always applicable due to the large amount of collected data, the use of communication channels with limited bandwidth, security and privacy requirements, etc. Federated learning (FL) is an emerging approach that allows one to analyze data directly on data sources and to federate the results of each analysis to yield a result as traditional centralized data processing.

The article is devoted to the development and creation of a multiphysics simulator that can, on the one hand, simulate the most significant physical processes in the IPMC actuator, and on the other hand, unlike commercial products such as COMSOL, can use computing resources economically. The developed mathematical model is an adjoint differential equation describing the transport of charged particles and water molecules in the ion-exchange membrane, the electrostatic field inside, and the mechanical deformation of the actuator. The distribution of the electrostatic potential in the interelectrode space is located by means of the solution of the Poisson equation with the Dirichlet boundary conditions, where the charge density is a function of the concentration of cations inside the membrane.

Eu doped porous nanostructured SrTiO films and powder fabricated by sol-gel route without using any precursor template are characterized by different morphology and phase composition. The films show red and yellow luminescence with the most intensive photoluminescence (PL) bands at 612 nm and 588 nm, respectively. Raman, secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis of undoped nanostructured porous SrTiO films showed the presence of TiO, SrO, and SrTiO phases and their components.

A 58-year-old male patient with multi-vessel pulmonary vein (PV) stenosis following atrial fibrillation ablation was referred to a specialized pulmonary hypertension clinic. Chest dual-energy computed tomography (CT)-angiography allowed precise diagnosis of two PVs occlusion and three PVs significant stenosis. Iodine maps showed perfusion deficiency and its value for each stenosis, determining the sequence of multiple PV interventions.

An evergreen scientific feature is the ability for scientific works to be reproduced. Since chaotic systems are so hard to understand analytically, numerical simulations assume a key role in their investigation. Such simulations have been considered as reproducible in many works.

The finite numerical resolution of digital number representation has an impact on the properties of filters. Much effort has been done to develop efficient digital filters investigating the effects in the frequency response. However, it seems that there is less attention to the influence in the entropy by digital filtered signals due to the finite precision.

Objectives: We sought to assess acute changes in systemic and pulmonary hemodynamics and microscopic artery lesions following extended renal artery denervation (RDN).
Background: RDN has been proposed to reduce sympathetic nervous system hyperactivation. Although the effects of RDN on systemic circulation and overall sympathetic activity have been studied, data on the impact of RDN on pulmonary hemodynamics is lacking.

This is a prospective multicenter registry of atrial fibrillation (AF) ablation with the Ablation Index (AI) technology, which has been introduced as a marker predicting ablation lesion depth. The index incorporates the main parameters of radiofrequency point-by-point ablation: power, contact force, and time of ablation. The AI is calculated for every operator depending on personal skills, and there are no strict indications on the range of the parameter considering its safety and efficacy during pulmonary vein isolation.

We report a novel state of active matter-a swirlonic state. It is comprised of swirlons, formed by groups of active particles orbiting their common center of mass. These quasi-particles demonstrate a surprising behavior: In response to an external load they move with a constant velocity proportional to the applied force, just as objects in viscous media.

The reduction of substrate temperature is important in view of the integration of III-V materials with a Si platform. Here, we show the way to significantly decrease substrate temperature by introducing a procedure to create nanoscale holes in the native-SiO layer on Si(111) substrate via In-induced drilling. Using the fabricated template, we successfully grew self-catalyzed GaAs nanowires by molecular-beam epitaxy.

The effect of unmodified chitosan nanoparticles with a size of ~100 nm and a weakly positive charge on blood coagulation, metabolic activity of cultured cardiomyocytes, general toxicity, biodistribution, and reactive changes in rat organs in response to their single intravenous administration at doses of 1, 2, and 4 mg/kg was studied. Chitosan nanoparticles (CNPs) have a small cytotoxic effect and have a weak antiplatelet and anticoagulant effect. Intravenous administration of CNPs does not cause significant hemodynamic changes, and 30 min after the CNPs administration, they mainly accumulate in the liver and lungs, without causing hemolysis and leukocytosis.

The sensing applications of nitrogen-vacancy color centers in a diamond require an efficient manipulation of the color center ground state over the whole volume of an ensemble. Thus, it is necessary to produce strong uniform magnetic fields of a well-defined circular polarization at microwave frequencies. In this paper, we develop a circularly polarized microwave antenna based on the excitation of hybrid electromagnetic modes in a high-permittivity dielectric resonator.
