A hepatoprotective medicine, (YGW), was used to treat hepatic damage in cell and mouse models. We performed a 1,1-diphenyl-2- picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay and found that YGW exhibited a significantly high free radical scavenging ability. Furthermore, the results of the 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay revealed that YGW treatment could alleviate lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced damage in Kupffer cells (liver macrophages).

Background: Subdural hematoma is a rare, potentially devastating, yet curable complication of spinal anesthesia. Differentiation between post-dural puncture headache and subdural hematoma can be difficult, resulting in a delay in diagnosis.
Case Presentation: We present a 28-year-old Ethiopian female patient who underwent elective cesarean section under spinal anesthesia and returned to the emergency department after 1 month with a worsening headache.

Introduction: Reliable estimates on maternal and child morbidity and mortality are essential for health programmes and policies. Data are needed in populations, which have the highest burden of disease but also have the least evidence and research, to design and evaluate health interventions to prevent illnesses and deaths that occur worldwide each year.
Methods And Analysis: The Birhan Maternal and Child Health cohort is an open prospective pregnancy and birth cohort nested within the Birhan Health and Demographic Surveillance System.

Patients who have advanced lung cancer and bone metastasis (BM) often suffer from skeletal-related events (SREs) that lead to poor quality of life and poor prognosis. Our study aimed to investigate the prognostic factors in patients with BM from epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutation-positive lung adenocarcinoma. This retrospective study included 77 lung adenocarcinoma patients with synchronous BM.

Background: Measuring household food insecurity in specific geographic areas provides vital information that enables appropriate and effective intervention measures to be taken. To that end, this study aimed to assess the prevalence of food insecurity and associated factors among Urban Productive Safety Net Program (UPSNP) beneficiary households in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia's capital city.
Methods: A community-based cross-sectional study was conducted among 624 UPSNP beneficiary households in nine districts of Addis Ababa from June to July 2019.

Objectives: The standard recommendation of insulin therapy for patients with DKA is the administration of slow continuous intravenous (IV) regular insulin. Currently subcutaneous insulin is being recommended as an alternative treatment of DKA in mild and moderate cases in resource-limited settings. The purpose of this study was to assess the effectiveness and safety of six-hourly subcutaneous regular insulin use for the treatment of DKA among children with type one diabetes mellitus.

Weanling piglets often develop respiratory diseases such as pneumonia because they encounter substantial environmental stress. This study investigated an alternative herbal feed additive, Guizhi Li-Zhong Tang (GLZ), for preventing pneumonia in weanling piglets. An in vitro experiment demonstrated that GLZ has high antioxidant capacity and low cytotoxicity toward Kupffer cells.

Introduction: Solitary Fibrous Tumor of the Pleura(SFTP) is exceedingly rare mesenchymal tumor commonly arising from the visceral pleura and accounts for <5% of all pleural tumors. Although it commonly has benign histologic characteristics, the tumor behavior is often unpredictable and less understood due to limited number of cases.
Case Presentation: We present a rare case of Intrathoracic Giant SFTP in a 65 years old female who presented with a progressive worsening of shortness of breath of 1 year duration associated with intermittent dry cough, low grade fever, easy fatigability and loss of appetite.

Fipronil is a phenylpyrazole insecticide that may selectively inhibit gamma-aminobutyric acid receptors in insects. Although fipronil is the most widely used insecticide in aquatic environments, few studies have evaluated its neurotoxicity for the sensory and motor systems of aquatic vertebrates. We assessed the effects of acute fipronil exposure on the survival rate, number of hair cells of lateral lines, and neurotoxicity for zebrafish (Danio rerio).

Background: Over the past two decades non-communicable diseases (NCDs) have steadily increased as a cause of worldwide disability and mortality with a concomitant decrease in disease burden from communicable, maternal, neonatal and nutritional conditions. Congenital anomalies, the most common NCD affecting children, have recently become the fifth leading cause of under-five mortality worldwide, ahead of other conditions such as malaria, neonatal sepsis and malnutrition. Genetic counseling has been shown to be an effective method to decrease the impact of congenital anomalies and genetic conditions but is absent in almost all sub-Saharan Africa countries.

Every health care system requires an adequate health care workforce, service delivery, financial support, and information technology. During the COVID-19 pandemic, global health systems were ill prepared to address the rising prevalence of mental health problems, especially in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), thereby increasing treatment gaps. To close these gaps globally, task shifting and telepsychiatry should be made available and maximized, particularly in LMICs.

Background: Treatment seeking delay is defined as the time interval between the onset of the major symptoms of tuberculosis (TB) and the first visit to the formal health care facility. The patient was said to be delayed if the patient visited the health-facility after 3 weeks onset of major symptoms. However, in low-income countries like Ethiopia, the delay in treatment-seeking among tuberculosis patients contributes to a widespread transmission and high prevalence of tuberculosis.
