Introduction: Depression is a common mental health disorder faced by older adults that can go undetected and untreated. It was determined that the project site was not screening for depression among their older patient population. Aims: The purpose of this quality improvement project was to determine if the implementation of the Geriatric Depression Scale-15 (GDS-15) would impact the identification of risk factors for depression and follow-up among adults 65 and older.

The Revised Screening Scale for Pedophilic Interests (SSPI-2) is a five-item measure that assesses for pedohebephilia (sexual attraction to prepubescent and pubescent children) based on child victim characteristics. We aimed to replicate findings by Seto, Sandler et al. (2017) by examining the predictive validity of the SSPI-2 in an independent sample of 626 men referred for a sexological assessment because of sexual offending against children.

The recurrent colonization of freshwater habitats and subsequent loss of diadromy is a major ecological transition that has been reported in many ancestrally diadromous fishes. Such residency is often accompanied by a loss of tolerance to seawater. The amphidromous Galaxias maculatus has repeatedly colonized freshwater streams with evidence that freshwater-resident populations exhibit stark differences in their tolerance to higher salinities.

Antibodies targeting insulin-like growth factor 1 receptor (IGF-1R) induce objective responses in only 5% to 15% of children with sarcoma. Understanding the mechanisms of resistance may identify combination therapies that optimize efficacy of IGF-1R-targeted antibodies. Sensitivity to the IGF-1R-targeting antibody TZ-1 was determined in rhabdomyosarcoma and Ewing sarcoma cell lines.

Two guiding principles related to equity in healthcare, both in Canada and internationally, are that healthcare should be financed according to the ability-to-pay and utilized based on need. The Canada Health Act (CHA, 1984) aims to remove financial barriers and provide equitable access to healthcare in Canada. Contingent on meeting the conditions set out in the CHA, each province receives federal funding through the Canada Health Transfer (CHT).

This study starts from the cyber-ostracism experience that often occurs during social media use. Based on compensatory control theory, we explore the mechanism by which cyber-ostracism affects consumers' conspicuous consumption through the sense of control and also explore the moderating role of social media use intensity and implicit personality. This study used a sample of 407 social media users in China to verify the relationship between variables.

When species hybridize, one F1 hybrid cross type often predominates. Such asymmetry can arise from differences in a variety of reproductive barriers, but the relative roles and concordance of pre-mating, post-mating prezygotic, and post-zygotic barriers in producing these biases in natural animal populations have not been widely investigated. Here, we study a population of predominantly F1 hybrids between two killifish species (Fundulus heteroclitus and F.

Unlabelled: Polyploid species have played an essential role in plant evolution, exemplified by adaptive advantages to abiotic stress. -Methyladenosine (m6A) is suggested to play an important role in stress response. However, whether genome doubling affects m6A to increase autopolyploids stress tolerance is still unclear.

Uncertainty is mushrooming throughout COVID-19, and intolerance of uncertainty (IoU) nudges people into mental health difficulties involving fear, depression, and anxiety. The objective of this study was to investigate the role of depression and fear of COVID-19 (FoC) in the association between IoU and future career anxiety (FCA) among Chinese university students during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study involved 1,919 Chinese undergraduate students from 11 universities in eight Chinese cities with an online self-administered survey that included demographic information, IoU, FoC, depression, and FCA completed by all participants.

Using hybrid renewable energy technology is an efficient method for greenhouse gas mitigation caused by fossil fuel combustion. However, these renewable microgrids are not free from environmental damages, especially during the lifetime of hybrid renewable energy systems (HRES). The main objective of this study is to assess the environmental impacts of three optimized HRES for the Sea Water Reverse Osmosis Desalination (SWROD) plant.

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a major concern for health with high mortality rates around the world. CVD is often associated with partial or full occlusion of the blood vessel network. Changes in lifestyle can be useful for management early-stage disease but in the advanced stage, surgical interventions or pharmacological are needed to increase the blood flow through the affected tissue or to reduce the energy requirements.

Nudging is a method for eliciting a desired behavior. One approach to nudging involves information provision. When information presented for this purpose is designed from an evolutionary perspective, it may reveal a deeper level of rationality within human decision-making that might otherwise appear to be irrational.

The fields of couple therapy and sex therapy have historically been divided, with sex therapists focusing on sexual problems as fuel for relationship distress and couple therapists conceptualizing relationship distress as the root of sexual problems. Various researchers and clinicians have worked to integrate the two worlds by offering strategies for integrating sex therapy interventions into couple therapy, either by providing just the information necessary to address the sexual difficulty or by articulating how to utilize a sex therapy intervention within a specific couple therapy modality. However, limited literature exists that truly integrates sex therapy with specific couple therapies, actively accounting for the theoretical lenses held by both.

Disposable plastics are drawing considerable attention as a source of environmental risk despite their benefits in daily life. Banning the use of disposable plastics could increase other types of risks, which may damage the public good in the long run. Considering the trade-off of the risks and benefits, one way to improve social welfare is to conduct proper recycling and to continue using plastics but limit them to essential use, avoiding an unnecessary ban.

Wine fermentations are generally completed by the domestic yeast , but many indigenous vineyard yeasts also influence wine flavour and aroma. Despite the flourishing wine industry in Nova Scotia, there has yet to be any systematic evaluation of these yeasts in Atlantic Canada. The yeast communities of pressed L'Acadie blanc grapes sampled from an organic vineyard in the Annapolis Valley in 2018 and 2019 were characterized before and after spontaneous fermentation by both Illumina and PacBio sequencing, to address and compare potential platform biases.

The design of reversible-covalent molecules to selectively target the ε-amino functionality of lysine residues in enzymes or proteins is a highly desirable goal. Herein, we describe synthetic methodology used to prepare a series of 5'-thymidine-linked formylphenylboronic acids as probes to interrogate sugar nucleotide processing enzymes that recognize thymidine. The first synthetic strategy mitigated the need for protecting group manipulations of thymidine by capitalizing upon the straightforward preparation, isolation, and reactivity of 5'-azidothymidine.
