Article Synopsis
  • Prostate cancer is a major health issue for men globally, and in Lebanon, there's limited research on how factors like age, digital rectal exams (DRE), and urinary symptoms relate to prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels.
  • A study involving 725 Lebanese men aged 55-70 found that older age correlated with higher PSA levels, and men with more severe urinary symptoms also had elevated PSA levels.
  • The results suggest that age-specific PSA reference ranges are necessary, and combining PSA testing with clinical evaluations can improve prostate cancer detection in Lebanon.

Since the advent of assisted reproductive technology, different variables have been shown to affect pregnancy outcomes. One of the most prevalent studied events is the premature rise in serum progesterone concentrations on the day of trigger administration during cycles of ovarian stimulation. This phenomenon, classically known as premature luteinization, has been observed significantly for decades and has been linked to adverse pregnancy outcomes and lower live birth rates.

This case report details the management of a 66-year-old male with hemophilia A (HA) who presented with recurrent hematuria, and was found to have renal artery aneurysms and was subsequently diagnosed with a renal arteriovenous (AV) shunt. While the primary focus centers on the successful endovascular coil embolization of renal artery aneurysms, the concomitant presence of the AV shunt accentuates the significance of this case. Imaging techniques were crucial in the discovery of renal aneurysms and the diagnosis of the AV shunt malformation of the renal artery.

Background: Anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (anti-NMDAR) encephalitis is one of the most prevalent etiologies of autoimmune encephalitis. Approximately 25% of anti-NMDAR encephalitis cases prove refractory to both first- and second-line treatments, posing a therapeutic dilemma due to the scarcity of evidence-based data for informed decision-making. Intravenous rituximab is commonly administered as a second-line agent; however, the efficacy of its intrathecal administration has rarely been reported.
