Objective: Patients with penetrating trauma or field injuries are commonly encountered by emergency physicians. Clinical examination by inspection or palpation can detect superficial foreign bodies (FBs), and radiographs can detect radiopaque FBs. However, soft tissue FBs can be easily missed.
