Introduction: Urinary incontinence is associated with social isolation, deconditioning, depression, falls and early mortality. It impairs quality of life, even in residents of nursing homes, and, in the community, increases the risk of institutionalisation. Care focused on the preservation of dignity during intimate care is important in the care of older adults.

Categorization systems for tick-borne encephalitis virus (TBEV) infection lack consistency in classifying disease severity. To evaluate the need for a standard, consensus-based categorisation system for TBEV infection across subtypes, we gathered an expert panel of clinicians and scientists with diverse expertise in TBEV infection. Consensus was sought using the Delphi technique, which consisted of 2 web-based survey questionnaires and a final, virtual, consensus-building exercise.

Background: Superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIO) are emerging as a viable alternative to technetium and blue dye. Our study was designed to evaluate the correlation between SPIO dose, injection site, and timing with sentinel lymph node (SLN) detection and iron content in retrieved SLNs.
Methods: This study combined individual patient data from three Dutch and five Swedish studies.

Objective: To investigate the reliability of parental recall of birth weight, birth length and gestational age several years after birth.
Methods: Parentally recalled birth parameters were obtained from the European multicentric cohort study IDEFICS (Identification and prevention of dietary- and lifestyle-induced health effects in children and infants) and compared to the corresponding data externally recorded in the child's medical check-up booklet. The agreement between the two sources was examined using Bland-Altman plots, intraclass correlation coefficients and Cohen's kappa for clinically relevant categories.

Objective: To investigate the course of disability related to the upper extremities (UEs) in early rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and to assess correlations between such disability and clinical variables, including grip force.
Methods: In an inception cohort of patients with early RA (diagnosed 1995-2005, N = 222, follow-up 10 yrs), disability of the UEs was assessed using a subscore of the Health Assessment Questionnaire-Disability Index (HAQ-DI-UE), and average grip force of the dominant hand was measured. Changes between consecutive follow-up visits in the HAQ-DI-UE subscore, and correlations at each visit with key clinical variables, were assessed.

Background And Objective: Patients diagnosed with grade group (GG) 1 prostate cancer (PCa) following treatment for benign disease ("incidental" PCa) are typically managed with active surveillance (AS). It is not known how their outcomes compare with those observed in patients diagnosed with GG1 on biopsy. We aimed at determining whether long-term oncologic outcomes of AS for patients with GG1 PCa differ according to the type of diagnosis: incidental versus biopsy detected.

Background: Women in socially disadvantaged positions face increased risk of fear of birth, birth complications, and postpartum depression, highlighting the need for targeted interventions for this group. Doula support is associated with positive emotional and medical outcomes for mother and child. Experience of doula support for women in socially disadvantaged positions in Sweden remains unexplored.

Background: In luminal breast cancer, adjuvant CDK4/6 inhibitors (eg, abemaciclib) improve invasive disease-free survival. In patients with T1-2, grade 1-2 tumours, and one or two sentinel lymph node metastases, completion axillary lymph node dissection (cALND) is the only prognostic tool available that can reveal four or more nodal metastases (pN2-3), which is the only indication for adjuvant abemaciclib in this setting. However, this technique can lead to substantial arm morbidity in patients.

Objective: Associations were examined between six psychiatric diagnoses in parents and a broad range of psychiatric and nonpsychiatric outcomes in their offspring.
Methods: All individuals born in Sweden between 1970 and 2000 were linked to their biological parents (N=3,286,293) through Swedish national registers. A matched cohort design, with stratified Cox regression and conditional logistic regression analyses, was used examine associations between six psychiatric diagnoses in the parents and 32 outcomes in their offspring.

Ovarian cancer is the 8th most common cancer among women and has a 5-year survival of only 30-50%. While the survival is close to 90% for stage I tumours it is only 20% for stage IV. Current biomarkers are not sensitive nor specific enough, and novel biomarkers are urgently needed.

Importance: Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), wherein a generalized epileptic seizure is induced, is a treatment for major depressive disorder (MDD). Currently, it is unclear whether there is an association between seizure length and treatment outcome.
Objective: To explore the association between seizure duration, potential confounding variables, and ECT treatment outcome.

Objectives: To examine the risk of fractures in a cohort of patients with newly diagnosed rheumatoid arthritis (RA), compared to the background population, and predictors of fractures detectable early in RA.
Methods: An inception cohort of patients with RA (N = 233; 164 women/69 men, recruited 1995-2005) was evaluated according to a structured program, including repeated clinical assessments and measures of bone mineral density (BMD), from diagnosis to 10 years later. Matched population controls were identified using the national census register.

Aims: Adequate animal models are necessary to understand human conditions, such as takotsubo syndrome (TS) characterized by the heart's transient regional wall motion abnormalities. This study aims to develop a reproducible, low-mortality TS model that closely mimics the human condition and addresses the limitations of existing models.
Methods And Results: We conducted six experiments using 309 Sprague Dawley rats, each approximately 300 g and aged 7-8 weeks.

To investigate the effects of heavy-load strength training during (neo-)adjuvant chemotherapy in women with breast cancer on muscle strength, body composition, muscle fiber size, satellite cells, and myonuclei. Women with stage I-III breast cancer were randomly assigned to a strength training group (ST, n = 23) performing supervised heavy-load strength training twice a week during chemotherapy, or a usual care control group (CON, n = 17). Muscle strength and body composition were measured and biopsies from m.

The highly heterogeneous population of elderly with epilepsy continues to increase as the incidence of epilepsy rises with increasing life expectancy. There are many aspects to consider in the treatment of elderly with epilepsy, e g comorbidities and the complexity of polypharmacy. The literature on quality-of-life (QoL) and patient-centered outcomes in elderly in general as well as in elderly with epilepsy is limited, most of the existing studies report results from quality-of-life surveys.

Background: The role of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) testing in prostate cancer (PCa) screening has evolved over recent decades with multiple randomized controlled trials (RCTs) spurring guideline changes. At present, controversy exists due to the indolent nature of many prostate cancers and associated risks of overdiagnosis and overtreatment. This review examines major RCTs evaluating PSA screening to inform clinical practices.
