Determination of nuclear and/or cytoplasmic expression of β-catenin by immunohistochemistry in patients with endometrial cancer (EC) may constitute a potential diagnostic method for identifying patients with a catenin β1 (CTNNB1) gene mutation and those at risk of disease recurrence. The present study aimed to investigate β-catenin expression patterns in hysterectomy specimens of patients with endometrioid type EC using immunohistochemistry, and to examine the prognostic impact of β-catenin. The study was a single-institutional, retrospective cohort trial enrolling consecutive patients with a postoperative histopathological diagnosis of endometrioid EC who underwent hysterectomy between January 2015 and December 2018.

Despite the theoretical benefits, the favorable effect of preoperative carbohydrate loading on postoperative morbidity remains controversial. Most of the outcomes reported in the literature are derived from non-gynecologic surgery data, with only one study involving a limited number of patients specifically in gynecological oncology. The present study aimed to investigate the impact of carbohydrate loading, as a single element of enhanced recovery after surgery protocols, on postoperative course and morbidity in patients undergoing debulking surgery for epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC).

Objective: The primary aim of this study was to compare the anatomic outcomes of vaginally assisted laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy (VALS) with those of McCall culdoplasty (McCC) in patients undergoing concurrent vaginal hysterectomy.

Materials And Methods: This randomized controlled study presents the outcomes of 68 patients who underwent hysterectomy and vaginal suspension for apical prolapse ≥ Stage III according to the Pelvic Organ Prolapse Quantification (POP-Q) system between October 2017 and December 2020. Among these patients, 33 underwent VALS and 35 underwent McCC.

Background: Studies regarding genetic and clinical characteristics, gender preference, and gonadal malignancy rates for steroid 5-alpha-reductase type 2 deficiency (5α-RD2) are limited and they were conducted on small number of patients.

Objective: To present genotype-phenotype correlation, gonadal malignancy risk, gender preference, and diagnostic sensitivity of serum testosterone/dihydrotestosterone (T/DHT) ratio in patients with 5α-RD2.

Materials And Methods: Patients with variations in the SRD5A2 gene were included in the study.

Objectives: Although the cervical plexus block generally provides adequate analgesia for carotid endarterectomy, pain caused by metal retractors on the inferior surface of the mandible is not prevented by the cervical block. Different pain relief methods can be performed for patients who experience discomfort in these areas. In this study, the authors evaluated the effect of mandibular block in addition to cervical plexus block on pain scores in carotid endarterectomy.
