Background: Proximal femur fracture surgeries have become increasingly prevalent, presenting unique challenges for postoperative pain management due to patient demographics and comorbidities. Erector spinae plane block (ESPB) has emerged as a relatively safe alternative to paravertebral block (PVB). Our aim was to compare ultrasound-guided continuous ESPB with continuous PVB for postoperative analgesia in patients undergoing proximal femur surgeries under spinal anesthesia.

Introduction: Since previous studies, including small-scale meta-analyses comparing accelerometer-based portable navigation (APN-TKA) and conventional techniqueof total knee arthroplasty (CONV-TKA), have reported divergent results, there is a need for an updated meta-analysis to compare complications, functional outcomes, clinically relevant outcomes and radiographic alignment of components.
Methods: This meta-analysis was conducted as per PRISMA guidelines. Randomised controlled trials, and non-randomised comparative cohort studies in English language on primary TKA were included.

Trans-septal suturing has been suggested as a safe and effective alternative with a view to obviate the need for nasal packing and the hence avoid the discomfort associated with it. To compare the outcome of trans-septal suturing technique with merocel nasal packing after septoplasty.

Spinal injuries constitute about 3% of all injury cases and most of these injuries affect the thoracolumbar region, but thoracolumbar fracture-dislocations are much rarer. Dislocations (AO Type C injuries) of the thoracic and lumbar vertebrae, with or without associated fractures, happen due to very high energy trauma involving simultaneous, multidirectional, distractive and compressive forces across various spinal elements, which results in translational and rotational instability of the spinal column. Various reduction maneuvers have been described for thoracolumbar fracture-dislocations in the literature aiming to provide standardization in surgery for this situation.

The COVID-19 outbreak was announced a pandemic by the World Health Organization in March 2020. The contagious nature of this virus to spread through droplets, puts the ENT surgeon at an added risk of exposure and infection, particularly while performing various aerosol generating procedures of the oral cavity and upper airway. While it is being recommended worldwide to postpone all elective surgeries to a later date, certain emergency procedures must be undertaken promptly but in a manner that minimizes the exposure of the surgeon and health care staff to the SARS-CoV-2.
