Background: The ratio between early mitral flow wave to early diastolic mitral annulus velocity (E/e' ratio) varies according to age and sex and is associated with mortality in heart failure. We sought to describe the association between E/e' and mortality in patients with no apparent structural or functional cardiac abnormality and explore possible modifiers of this association.
Methods: A retrospective study of 104,315 patients who underwent echocardiographic evaluation during 2009-2021 in the largest tertiary center in Israel.

Background: In addition to pressures typical of other medical professions, family physicians face additional challenges such as building long-term relationships with patients, dealing with patients' social problems, and working at a high level of uncertainty. We aimed to assess the rate of burnout and factors associated with it among family medicine residents throughout Israel.
Methods: A cross sectional study based on a self-administered questionnaire.

Background And Aims: Small-bowel (SB) capsule endoscopy (CE) is a first-line procedure for exploring the SB. Endoscopic GI PlacemenT (EGIPT) of SB CE is sometimes necessary. Although experience with EGIPT is considerable in pediatric populations, we aimed to describe the safety, efficacy, and outcomes of EGIPT of SB CE in adult patients.

Introduction: Symptomatic hydronephrosis associated with muscle invasive bladder cancer (MIBC) necessitates percutaneous nephrostomy (PCN) insertion before neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC). This study assesses the impact of PCN presence on standard intended NAC quality, its related complications and outcome after radical cystectomy (RC).
Materials And Methods: The study comprises a retrospective, multicenter cohort of 193 consecutive RCs performed between 2016 and 2019.

Motivation: Polygenic risk scores (PRSs) predict individuals' genetic risk of developing complex diseases. They summarize the effect of many variants discovered in genome-wide association studies (GWASs). However, to date, large GWASs exist primarily for the European population and the quality of PRS prediction declines when applied to other ethnicities.

We aim to evaluate the incidence of incontinence following laser endoscopic enucleation of the prostate (EEP) comparing en-bloc (Group 1) versus 2-lobe/3-lobe techniques (Group 2). We performed a retrospective review of patients undergoing EEP for benign prostatic enlargement in 12 centers between January 2020 and January 2022. Data were presented as median and interquartile range (IQR).

The E. coli transcriptome at the cell's poles (polar transcriptome) is unique compared to the membrane and cytosol. Several factors have been suggested to mediate mRNA localization to the membrane, but the mechanism underlying polar localization of mRNAs remains unknown.

Background: Unlike pregestational diabetes mellitus, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommends antenatal corticosteroids in those with gestational diabetes mellitus at risk for preterm birth. However, this recommendation is based on limited data, only 10.6% of the Antenatal Late Preterm Steroids study sample had gestational diabetes mellitus.

mTOR serine/threonine kinase is a cornerstone in the PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway. Yet, the detailed mechanism of activation of its catalytic core is still unresolved, likely due to mTOR complexes' complexity. Its dysregulation was implicated in cancer and neurodevelopmental disorders.

Purpose: The trend of delaying childbirth has resulted in a growing number of advanced-aged women who are opting for preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) to screen for monogenic diseases or structural chromosomal rearrangements (PGT-M and PGT-SR). This increase in demand necessitates the development of a clinical predictive model for live birth outcomes in these women. Therefore, the objective of this study is to construct a comprehensive predictive model that assesses the likelihood of achieving a successful live birth in advanced-aged women undergoing PGT-M and PGT-SR treatments.

Background: The investigation of the fetal umbilical-portal venous system is based on the premise that congenital anomalies of this system may be related to adverse perinatal outcomes. Several small retrospective studies have reported an association between umbilical-portal-systemic venous shunts and intrauterine growth restriction. However, the prevalence of portosystemic shunts in the fetal growth restricted population is yet to be determined.

The Ras homologue family member A (RhoA) is a member of the Rho family, a subgroup of the Ras superfamily. RhoA interacts with the 115 kDa guanine nucleotide exchange factor (p115-RhoGEF), which assists in activation and binding with downstream effectors. Here, we use molecular dynamics (MD) simulations and essential dynamics analysis of the inactive RhoA-GDP and active RhoA-GTP, when bound to p115-RhoGEF to decipher the mechanism of RhoA activation at the structural level.

The thymus is a primary lymphoid organ that is essential for the establishment of adaptive immunity through generation of immunocompetent T cells. In response to various stress signals, the thymus undergoes acute but reversible involution. However, the mechanisms governing its recovery are incompletely understood.

(1) Background: Over the past several years, there has been a renewed interest with regard to the effect of pre-operative vitamin D levels on post-surgical outcomes. Pre-operative vitamin D deficiency has been associated with many negative post-operative outcomes. However, the role of vitamin D in postoperative outcomes in colorectal liver metastasis (CRLM) resection is relatively uninvestigated.

Background: To examine the effect of internal limiting membrane peeling on the inner retinal layers in patients without macular pathological condition.
Methods: A prospective nonrandomized trial of patients undergoing pars plana vitrectomy with internal limiting membrane peeling for pathologic condition outside the macula was performed. Optical coherence tomography including macular ganglion cell layer, inner plexiform layer, and peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer imaging was performed before surgery, 1, 3, and 6 months postoperatively, and at the end of follow-up (ranges between 4 and 17 months).

Mast-cell expressed membrane protein-1 (MCEMP1) is higher in patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) with an increased risk of death. Here we aimed to establish the mechanistic role of MCEMP1 in pulmonary fibrosis. We identified increased MCEMP1 expression in classical monocytes and alveolar macrophages in IPF compared with controls.

Background: Endovascular treatment (EVT) with mechanical thrombectomy is the standard of care for large vessel occlusion (LVO) in acute ischemic stroke (AIS). The most common approach today is to perform EVT in a comprehensive stroke center (CSC) and transfer relevant patients for EVT from a primary stroke center (PSC). Rapid and efficient treatment of LVO is a key factor in achieving a good clinical outcome.
