Background The association of pulmonary and systemic arterial hypertension is believed to be mediated through hypertensive left heart disease. The purpose of the current study was to investigate whether pulmonary hypertension (PHT) is associated with systemic arterial hypertension among patients with apparently normal left ventricular diastolic function. Methods and Results Consecutive patients who had echocardiographic evaluation between 2007 and 2019 were enrolled.

In this article we discuss the case of an elderly patient who presented to our emergency department in shock after an episode of syncope. Using Point Of Care Ultrasound (POCUS), identification of cardiac tamponade and pericardial thrombus was possible, signs indicating a diagnosis of free wall rupture.

Introduction: People with diabetes mellitus are at increased risk of developing a more severe disease or death when contracting coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19 ) but the effect of pre-COVID-19 infection glycemic control on disease outcomes is still unclear. In a previous study that we published from Leumit Health Services (LHS) including 183 patients with diabetes, pre-COVID-19 infection HbA1c>9% was associated with the need for hospitalization during the disease. In the current study we present the clinical characteristics of patients who died from COVID-19 in LHS and demonstrate a significant link to pre-infection HbA1c.

Background: Restless legs syndrome (RLS) is a sensory-motor disorder characterized by an uncomfortable sensation felt in the lower extremity. The aim of this systematic review and meta-analyses was (i) to provide updated information on the prevalence and clinical characteristics of RLS amongst people with multiple sclerosis (PwMS) and (ii) clarify RLS-related factors in PwMS.
Methods: MEDLINE (PubMed), Scopus, and EMBASE were searched from their inception through April 2021 for the following keywords: 'restless legs syndrome' or 'RLS' and 'multiple sclerosis' or 'MS'.

Aim Of The Study: In preterm infants, the use of human milk is associated with unique benefits. However, successful breast feeding rates and prolonged breastfeeding duration is often reduced in preterm infants. Nevertheless, early initiation of breast expression after birth is believed to be one of the major variables that should improve the odds of successful breastfeeding.

Background: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) exacerbations necessitating hospitalization are known to have a negative impact on post-discharge clinical outcomes. In the present study, we evaluated the potential benefits in applying Patient-Reported-Outcome-Measures (PROMS) in order to better these patients' post-hospitalization prognostication.
Methods: This was a prospective, observational study.

Dealing with wound related pain is an integral part of treatment. Systemic administration of analgesic and anesthetic agents is a common solution for providing pain relief to patients but comes at a risk of severe side effects as well as addiction. To overcome these issues, research efforts were madeto provide a platform for local controlled release of pain killers.

Patients with hematologic malignancies have an increased risk of severe COVID-19 infection. Vaccination against COVID-19 is especially important in these patients, but whether they develop an immune response following vaccination is unknown. We studied serologic responses to the BNT162b2 vaccine in this population.

Introduction: Patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, often have comorbid anxiety and depression that affects their quality of life (QoL) and management of their IBD.
Areas Covered: A systematic literature review (SLR) was conducted to identify articles and conference abstracts on comorbid anxiety and depression in IBD patients using MEDLINE® and Embase® (January 2003 - June 2018). The impact of these psychological comorbidities on QoL and economic burden was examined.

Purpose: Several hexapod external fixators are used in the treatment of bone fracture and deformity corrections. One characteristic of all of them is the requirement for manual adjustment of the fixator struts. The purpose of this study was to introduce a novel robotic system that executes automatic adjustment of the struts.

Objective: The study aimed to assess the association of nucleated red blood cells (NRBC), a surrogate of intrauterine hypoxia, and elevated pulmonic vascular resistance (E-PVR) and oxygen requirement after minimally invasive surfactant therapy (MIST).
Study Design: Retrospective study of a cohort of preterm neonates that received MIST in a single unit.
Results: NRBC were measured in 65 of 75 (87%) neonates administered MIST during the period.
Background: Multimorbidity of intestinal cancer (IC), type 2 diabetes (T2D) and obesity is a complex set of diseases, affected by environmental and genetic risk factors. High-fat diet (HFD) and oral bacterial infection play important roles in the etiology of these diseases through inflammation and various biological mechanisms.
Methods: To study the complexity of this multimorbidity, we used the collaborative cross (CC) mouse genetics reference population.

Objective: About one-third of patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) suffers from chronic and excruciating central neuropathic pain (CNP). The mechanism underlying CNP in MS is not clear, since previous studies are scarce and their results are inconsistent. Our aim was to determine whether CNP in MS is associated with impairment of the spinothalamic-thalamocortical pathways (STTCs) and/or increased excitability of the pain system.

Unlike IgG monoclonal proteins (MCPs), IgA MCP quantification is unreliable due to beta-migration of IgA MCPs on serum protein electrophoresis (SPEP). The utility of nephelometric quantitative IgA (qIgA) to monitor IgA multiple myeloma (MM) is unclear. We retrospectively studied disease response kinetics using qIgA versus MCPs by SPEP, and developed and validated novel qIgA disease assessment criteria in 491 IgA MM patients.

Methods: Mild AD (n = 38) and cognitively normal control (CNC; n = 48) participants from the University of Kansas Alzheimer's Disease Center Registry wore a GT3x+ accelerometer continuously for 7 days to assess gait.

Breast cancer (BC) risk for BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutation carriers varies by genetic and familial factors. About 50 common variants have been shown to modify BC risk for mutation carriers. All but three, were identified in general population studies.

Purpose: Neutropenia is a serious complication of chemotherapy in patients with solid tumors. The influence of hospital volume on outcomes in patients with neutropenia has been little investigated. We hypothesized that large-volume hospitals would have reduced mortality rates for neutropenic patients compared with small-volume institutions.
