Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is the most common lymphoma entity, and its incidence increases with age. There is a paucity of data regarding use of biweekly R-CHOP (R-CHOP-14) in patients ≥80 years of age. We performed a retrospective cohort study of patients with DLBCL aged ≥80 years treated with R-CHOP-14 and R-miniCHOP in two academic tertiary centers in Germany between 01/01/2005 and 12/30/2019.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to compare the imaging results of two devices, Pentacam HR and CASIA2, in patients with macular corneal dystrophy (MCD).
  • Researchers found that both devices showed similar levels of anterior corneal astigmatism, but CASIA2 reported significantly lower values for posterior cylinder measurements and corneal thickness compared to Pentacam HR.
  • The findings suggest that Scheimpflug imaging may overestimate corneal thickness in advanced MCD, indicating the need for careful consideration of pachymetry measurements from optical coherence tomography before corneal surgeries.

Article Synopsis
  • Electrochemotherapy (ECT) uses electroporation alongside chemotherapeutic drugs like bleomycin (BLM) to treat colorectal liver metastases, evaluated in a rat study.
  • Three groups of rats received ECT with either intravenous (i.v.), intratumoral (i.t.), or a combination of both methods for BLM injection, and various tumor metrics were measured post-treatment.
  • Results indicated that both i.v. and i.v. + i.t. groups had significantly reduced tumor oxygen saturation compared to the i.t. group, but overall tumor necrosis and other tumor characteristics were similar across all treatments, suggesting i.v. administration may be the best option in clinical practice.

Uveal melanoma (UM) represents a rare tumor of the uveal tract and is associated with a poor prognosis due to the high risk of metastasis. Despite advances in the treatment of UM, the mortality rate remains high, dictating an urgent need for novel therapeutic strategies. The current study introduces the first in vivo analysis of the therapeutic potential of calcium electroporation (CaEP) compared with electrochemotherapy (ECT) with bleomycin in a patient-derived xenograft (PDX) model based on the chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) assay.

: Vulvar cancer (VC) comprises a small fraction of female neoplasms with notable high-incidence clusters among German regions. Despite a proposed impact of nationwide lockdowns in response to the COVID-19 pandemic on oncological diseases, the effect on VC staging and tumor characteristics remains yet to be resolved; therefore, analyzing pathological data from patients with squamous cell VC pre-, during, and post-COVID in a high-incidence region may offer insights into potential epidemiological and clinical trends. : We identified a total of 90 patients who were diagnosed at the Institute of Pathology, University Hospital Saarland, between 2018 and 2023, and defined three distinct cohorts: a pre-COVID cohort (2018-2019), a COVID cohort (2020-2021), and a post-COVID cohort (2022-2023).

Cellular senescence in response to ionizing radiation (IR) limits the replication of damaged cells by causing permanent cell cycle arrest. However, IR can induce pro-survival signaling pathways that reduce the extent of radiation-induced cytotoxicity and promote the development of radioresistance. The differential incorporation of histone variant H2A.

Juvenile angiofibroma (JA) is a rare, sex-specific, and highly vascularized nasal tumor that almost exclusively affects male adolescents, but its etiology has been controversial. The G protein-coupled hormone receptor LHCGR [luteinizing hormone (LH)/choriogonadotropin (hCG) receptor] represents a promising new candidate for elucidating the underlying mechanisms of sex specificity, pubertal manifestation, and JA progression. We used highly sensitive RNAscope technology, together with immunohistochemistry, to investigate the cellular expression, localization, and distribution of LHCGR in tissue samples from JA patients.

Purpose: Bone marrow stimulation is a common treatment for full-thickness cartilage defects in the hip joint. However, common procedures may result in poor fibrous repair tissue and changes to the subchondral anatomy. This study investigated the clinical outcome of a cohort of International Cartilage Repair Society (ICRS) grades 3 and 4 cartilage defects treated with bone marrow stimulation compared to those who received simple debridement/chondroplasty.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to analyze the impact of dapagliflozin on patients with different QRS durations in heart failure, since longer QRS may lead to poorer outcomes and response to treatment.
  • The research pooled data from the DAPA-HF and DELIVER trials, including nearly 10,000 patients with heart failure of varying ejection fractions, and compared event rates of cardiovascular death or worsening heart failure based on QRS duration.
  • Findings showed that longer QRS durations correlated with worse outcomes, but dapagliflozin significantly reduced risks across all QRS groups and heart failure types, demonstrating consistent benefits regardless of the QRS duration.

Aim: Rechallenge of [Lu]Lu-PSMA-617 radioligand therapy (RLT) was proposed for patients who initially responded to PSMA-RLT experiencing partial remission, but relapsed into progression after a certain period of remission. However, only limited data is available regarding this approach. In this study, we analyzed the efficacy and safety profile of one or more series of [Lu]Lu-PSMA-617 RLT rechallenge in patients from a prospective registry (REALITY Study, NCT04833517) after they initially benefited from PSMA-RLT.
