There is some evidence that testosterone-lowering medications (TLM) may be an effective treatment for men convicted of sexual offenses by attenuating paraphilic sexual fantasies and behaviors and reducing the recidivism risk. To date, however, only little is known about the effects of TLM stopping on risk-relevant aspects. Therefore, the current study aimed at examining the recidivism risk as measured by Stable-2007 as well as official records of reoffenses in 29 men having stopped TLM treatment as compared to 37 men with ongoing TLM treatment.

Among childhood cancer survivors, the cumulative incidence rate of differentiated thyroid carcinomas (DTCs) is estimated to be 8-11%. Although the association of DTC with prior radiotherapy is well-studied, the association with chemotherapy remains less understood. Most studies focused on young adults, leaving a knowledge gap on subsequent DTC occurring in childhood and adolescence.

We report here on a patient with concomitant indolent lymphoma who showed a rapid progressive deterioration of his general condition and emerging neurological symptoms. The combination of severe B symptoms with hypermetabolic involvement of the adrenal glands and multiple central nervous system (CNS) lesions initially suggested a malignant disease. However, when the patient presented to us with biopsy results from one of the CNS lesions, the biopsy revealed granulomatous inflammation but no evidence of malignancy.

Introduction: Congenital aniridia is a rare panocular disorder that is associated with varying degrees of impairment of visual acuity. The COST Action (CA18116) developed a survey (aniridia-net.eu) to assess patient-reported experiences with congenital aniridia and its impacts on vision and daily life.

Background: Although to date the pathogenesis of endometriosis remains largely unexplained, it is known that processes of migration, proliferation and revascularization and thus calcium as a messenger substance play an important role. Consecutively, the present study examines the immunohistochemical expression of the calcium transient receptor potential channels 3 and 6 (TRPC3 and TRPC6) in ectopically located (outside the uterine cavity) endometrial tissue.
Methods: Laparoscopically collected and histomorphologically verified endometriosis tissues from several different intraabdominal locations were examined (n = 20) and immunohistochemical stainings were performed with anti-TRPC3 and anti-TRPC6 antibodies (Alomone Labs, Jerusalem).

Purpose: The potential risks and benefits of cataract surgery, in context of congenital aniridia (CA), are not widely understood, yet. Our purpose was to investigate the effect of lens properties on visual acuity (VA), aniridia-associated keratopathy (AAK) stage and presence of glaucoma at the Homburg Aniridia Center.
Methods: CA subjects, examined at the Department of Ophthalmology of Saarland University between June 2003 and January 2022, were included.

Background: Clinically significant liver fibrosis is associated with future adverse events in patients with steatotic liver disease. We designed a software tool for detection of clinically significant liver fibrosis in primary care.
Methods: In this prospective cohort study, we developed and validated LiverPRO using six independent cohorts from Denmark, Germany, and England that included patients from primary and secondary care with steatotic liver disease related to alcohol or metabolic dysfunction.

Objective: This study aimed to document the treatment success of eyelid hygiene with liposomal suspension using new diagnostic tools and to determine whether additional lipid substitution provided measurable benefits in meibomian gland dysfunction.
Methods: A single-center controlled, partially single masked study was conducted. Group A used eyelid hygiene only, whereas group B additionally applied a liposomal eye spray.

Background: The NOTI chelating scaffold can readily be derivatized for bioconjugation without impacting its metal complexation/radiolabeling properties making it an attractive building block for the development of multimeric/-valent radiopharmaceuticals. The objective of the study was to further explore the potential of the NOTI chelating platform by preparing and characterizing homotrimeric PSMA radioconjugates in order to identify a suitable candidate for clinical translation.
Results: Altogether, three PSMA conjugates based on the NOTI-TVA scaffold with different spacer entities between the chelating unit and the Glu-CO-Lys PSMA binding motif were readily prepared by solid phase-peptide chemistry.

In this study, long-term survivors of head and neck cancer (HNC) were evaluated regarding their symptom burden and quality of life (QoL). This prospective study was performed during the regular follow-up consultations at one of Germany's largest tertiary referral centers for HNC. The assessment included demographic, clinical, and oncological data, as well as the MIDOS(2) and the University of Washington Quality of Life Questionnaire (UW QoL) questionnaires.

Radiotherapy showed synergy with immunotherapy, yet the comparative effectiveness of combining immunotherapy (iRT) or chemotherapy (CRT) after platinum therapy failure in advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) remains unexplored. We analyzed 163 patients (iRT: = 120 vs. CRT: = 43) eligible for combination radiotherapy.

Introduction: The number of tracheal intubation attempts required to reach proficiency in videolaryngoscopy with hyperangulated blades is unknown. Understanding this training requirement might guide training for clinicians who perform laryngoscopy. We therefore performed a planned sub-analysis of a randomised controlled trial comparing tracheal intubation success with videolaryngoscopy vs.

Purpose: This study aims to evaluate the outcome and renal safety of prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA)-radioligand therapy (RLT) in patients with metastatic castration-resistant prostate carcinoma (mCRPC) and preexisting renal impairment.
Methods: Ninety-four patients with preexisting renal impairment were included in this retrospective analysis. Inclusion criterion was a glomerular filtration rate (GFR) of ≤60 mL/min (equivalent to Common Terminology Criteria of Adverse Events [CTCAE] ≥2).

Roxadustat is an oral hypoxia-inducible factor prolyl hydroxylase inhibitor approved to treat anemia of chronic kidney disease (CKD). The efficacy and safety of roxadustat compared with parenteral erythropoiesis-stimulating agents (ESAs) were evaluated in patients with anemia of CKD receiving peritoneal dialysis (PD). This analysis pooled data from four phase 3, multicenter, randomized, open-label, active-comparator studies (PYRENEES, SIERRAS, HIMALAYAS, ROCKIES).
