Aim was to fabricate and optimize CUR-loaded mannose-functionalized chitosan nanoparticles (Cur-MCN) which overcome the limitations of drugs to reach the intracellular locations and to establish its therapeutic potential in visceral leishmaniasis by targeting of CUR to macrophages. Cur-MCN were developed by mannose-conjugated chitosan and have been tested for their efficacy and toxicit. In vivo antileishmanial activity in hamsters has shown significantly greater suppression of parasite replication in the spleen with Cur-MCN than unconjugated chitosan nanoparticles.

Hybrid systems of acridones with substituted pyrimidines were designed with an objective of discovering next generation anticancer agents targeting multiple mechanisms in the cancer cell. Hybrid compounds were synthesized by simple and convenient methods in the lab, characterized by NMR and Mass spectral methods and screened for cytotoxicity against A549 (lung), Hela (cervical), MCF7 (breast) and MDA-MB-231 (breast) cancer cell lines respectively. Evaluation of compounds for cell proliferation identified active compounds 11b, 11d and 11h against MCF7, MDA-MB-231 and A549 cell lines.

Objectives: Cordia (family Boraginaceae) is a genus of deciduous flowering trees or shrubs comprising more than 300 species distributed widely in the tropical regions. The aim of this review was to provide exhaustive scientific information on traditional uses, phytochemistry and pharmacological activities of the 36 important species with medicinal value from the genus Cordia, to divulge prospects for further research on its therapeutic potential.

Key Findings: Leaves, fruit, bark and seed of a majority of the species were found to possess abundant ethnomedicinal value, but leaves were found to be used most frequently to treat many ailments such as respiratory disorders, stomach pain, wound, inflammation, myalgia, cough, dysentery and diarrhoea.

The present investigation was aimed to prepare inclusion complexes of a therapeutically important nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug, etodolac (ETD) with hydroxypropyl-beta-cyclodextrin (HP-β-CD) and to study the effect of l-arginine (l-Arg) as an auxiliary agent on the complexation efficiency of HP-β-CD to improve aqueous solubility and the dissolution property of ETD.
