Background: The plastic and reconstructive surgery (PRS) match has become more competitive with an emphasis on research productivity. With the transition of the US Medical Licensing Examination step 1 examination to pass-fail grading, alternative evaluation metrics for residency applications are needed. Our study provides a landscape of the incidence of research years amongst integrated PRS residents and the potential impacts of gender and race.

Background: The intestinal microbiome has been recently linked to several metabolic and chronic disorders, one of which is coronary artery disease (CAD). Our study aimed to analyze the intestinal microbiome of CAD patients and assess the eligibility of dysbiosis as a diagnostic marker of CAD.
Methods: PubMed, Scopus, Embase, and Web of Science were searched using terms, such as 'CAD' and 'microbiome'.

Model adherence indicates the degree to which a program or intervention is delivered as intended. In integrated primary care, where mental health services are embedded into primary care clinics, appraisal of model adherence provides insight into whether these services align with key features of this unique practice environment (e.g.

Uncontrolled bleeding is the primary cause of trauma-related death. For patients that are brought to the hospital in time to receive treatment, there is a great risk of contracting drug-resistant bacterial wound infections. Therefore, low-cost hemostatic agents with procoagulant and antibacterial properties are essential to reduce morbidity and mortality in patients with traumatic wounds.

Our understanding of acute leukemia pathology is heavily dependent on 11q23 chromosomal translocations involving the mixed lineage leukemia-1 (MLL1) gene, a key player in histone H3 lysine 4 (H3K4) methylation. These translocations result in MLL1-fusion (MLL1) proteins that are thought to drive leukemogenesis. However, the mechanism behind increased H3K4 trimethylation in MLL1-leukemic stem cells (MLL1-LSCs), following loss of the catalytic SET domain of MLL1 (known for H3K4 monomethylation and dimethylation) remains unclear.

Introduction: Double outlet left ventricle (DOLV) is a rare congenital heart anomaly, and cases of DOLV with an intact ventricular septum are uncommon. To date, only four such cases have been reported in the medical literature.
Case Presentation: This report presents a case of prenatally diagnosed DOLV.

Background And Objectives: Predicting the development of adjacent segment disease (ASD) after lumbar spine fusion would help guide preoperative and postoperative therapies to prevent reoperation. We sought to evaluate whether sarcopenia predicts the development of early ASD after transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF).
Methods: Retrospective data were collected from 109 patients who underwent TLIF from 2013 to 2023.

Post-pump chorea (PPC) is characterized by the development of choreiform movements following cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) surgery. PPC occurs almost exclusively in children, and its pathophysiology remains unclear. Here we present an adult case of PPC after bovine aortic valve replacement (AVR) which exhibited dramatic and reproducible response to steroid, suggesting the presence of occult neuroinflammation.

This review article provides insights into the role of genetic diagnostics in adult mental health disorders. The importance of genetic factors in the development of mental illnesses, from rare genetic syndromes to common complex genetic disorders, is described. Current clinical characteristics that may warrant a genetic diagnostic work-up are highlighted, including intellectual disability, autism spectrum disorders and severe psychiatric conditions with specific comorbidities, such as organ malformations or epilepsy.

Importance: Intermittent Explosive Disorder (IED) is an understudied psychiatric condition that presents with repeated episodes of impulsive aggression and poorly regulated emotional control, often resulting in interpersonal and societal consequences. Better understanding of comorbidities will allow for enhanced screening, diagnosis, and treatment of patients.
Objective: To investigate prevalence and associations of IED with psychiatric, neurological, and somatic disorders using real-world data.

Intermittent Explosive Disorder (IED) is characterized by repeated inability to control aggressive impulses. Although the etiology and neurobiology of impulsive anger and impulse control disorders have been reviewed, no systematic review on these aspects has been published for IED specifically. We conducted a systematic search in seven electronic databases for publications about IED, screened by two authors, and retained twenty-four studies for the review.

Maintenance peritoneal dialysis (PD) is the most used kidney replacement therapy for children with kidney failure throughout the world. Underlying causes of kidney failure, indications for dialysis, body size, and nutritional requirements differ between children and adults on PD. These differences, along with the ongoing growth and development that occurs throughout childhood, impact PD access, prescription, and monitoring in children.

Bone fragility is a well-documented long-term side effect of radiotherapy, which currently has no preventative treatments. In this study, we applied a caloric restriction (CR) diet to attenuate both local and systemic bone loss after irradiation (RTx) in an established female Balb/c mouse model (4 consecutive daily doses of 5 Gy to the right hindlimb only). CR mice were tapered down to a 30% reduced calorie diet (RTx/CR) one week before irradiation, while regular diet (RD) mice received food ad libitum (RTx/RD).

The serine/threonine protein phosphatase 5 (PP5) regulates hormone and stress-induced signaling networks. Unlike other phosphoprotein phosphatases, PP5 contains both regulatory and catalytic domains and is further regulated through post-translational modifications (PTMs). Here we identify that SUMOylation of K430 in the catalytic domain of PP5 regulates phosphatase activity.

Aim: Automated insulin delivery (AID) systems have demonstrated improved glycaemic outcomes in people with type 1 diabetes (T1D), yet limited data exist on these systems in very young children and their impact on caregivers. We evaluated psychosocial outcomes following use of the tubeless Omnipod® 5 AID System in caregivers of very young children.
Materials And Methods: This 3-month single-arm, multicentre, pivotal clinical trial enrolled 80 children aged 2.
