Background: The optimal salt restriction in patients with heart failure (HF), especially patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF), remains controversial.

Objective: To investigate the associations of cooking salt restriction with risks of clinical outcomes in patients with HFpEF.

Methods: Cox proportional hazards model and subdistribution hazards model were used in this secondary analysis in 1713 participants with HFpEF from the Americas in the TOPCAT trial.

Aims: To investigate the efficacy and safety of lenvatinib and idarubicin-loaded drug-eluting beads transarterial chemoembolization (IDADEB-TACE) in primary advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).

Methods: This retrospective study included patients with primary advanced HCC who received either lenvatinib monotherapy or lenvatinib plus IDADEB-TACE as first-line treatment from September 2019 to September 2020 at three institutes. Implementation of a temperature bundle improves admission hypothermia in very-low-birth-weight infants in China: a multicentre study.

Background: Hypothermia is a common problem that is associated with increased mortality and morbidity among preterm infants, especially in China. The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of a targeted quality improvement (QI) project that applied hypothermia prevention measures for very-low-birth-weight (VLBW) infants in three tertiary neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) in China.

Case Report: Prompt Response to Savolitinib in a Case of Advanced Gastric Cancer With Bone Marrow Invasion and Abnormalities.

Gastric cancer is one of the most common malignant tumors and patients show a short survival, those combined with bone marrow invasion have a median survival of only 37 days. Here we reported the treatment of a 47-year-old male with advanced gastric cancer and complicated with bone marrow invasion and extensive metastases, who did not tolerate chemotherapy, under monotherapy with savolitinib, a MET receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor. Before treatment, the patient was in severe pain and presented with thrombocytopenia and hemorrhagic anemia.

Objective: The incidence of vulvar squamous cell carcinoma has been rising in recent decades. The prognosis of patients with vulvar squamous cell carcinoma was explored, and nomograms were constructed to predict survival rates.

Methods: Vulvar squamous cell carcinoma patient data were downloaded from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database and randomly divided into a training dataset and testing dataset.

A Nomogram for Predicting Event-Free Survival in Childhood Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia: A Multicenter Retrospective Study.

Objective: Even though childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) has an encouraging survival rate in recent years, some patients are still at risk of relapse or even death. Therefore, we aimed to construct a nomogram to predict event-free survival (EFS) in patients with ALL.

Method: Children with newly diagnosed ALL between October 2016 and July 2021 from 18 hospitals participating in the South China children's leukemia Group (SCCLG) were recruited and randomly classified into two subsets in a 7:3 ratio (training set, n=1187; validation set, n=506).

Objective: NLRP3 inflammasome regulates T cell responses. This study examined the roles of NLRP3 inflammasome activation in the regulation of T follicular helper (Tfh) cells during humoral response to T dependent antigens and in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).

Methods: NLRP3 inflammasome activation of Tfh cells was studied in B6, MRL/lpr and NZM2328 mice and in SLE patients and healthy controls using a fluorescence-labelled caspase-1 inhibitor probe.

Rare cause of left eye floaters and blurred vision in an immunocompromised patient: acute retinal necrosis (ARN).

Acute retinal necrosis (ARN) is a clinical syndrome featuring severe vitritis and occlusive vasculitis characterised by full thickness necrotising retinitis. ARN is usually caused by an acute infection by either varicella zoster virus or herpes simplex virus, rarely cytomegalovirus (CMV). ARN often occurs in healthy adults; occasionally affecting immunocompromised patients with poor prognosis including significant visual loss and detachment of the atrophic retina regardless of antiviral treatment.

Purpose: Recurrent renal cell carcinoma(reRCC) is associated with poor prognosis and the underlying mechanism is not yet clear. A comprehensive understanding of tumor microenvironment (TME) of reRCC may aid in designing effective anticancer therapies, including immunotherapies. Single-cell transcriptomics holds great promise for investigating the TME, however, this technique has not been used in reRCC.

Clinical practice guidelines for esophageal ambulatory reflux monitoring in Chinese adults.

Esophageal ambulatory reflux monitoring is the current gold standard for the diagnosis of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). In order to facilitate standardized procedure and improve diagnostic accuracy, clinical guidelines for ambulatory esophageal reflux monitoring were developed based on thorough literature search and working group conference by experts in gastrointestinal motility. Indications, contraindications, methodology, and reporting of ambulatory esophageal reflux monitoring were discussed in these clinical guidelines.

Epidemiology of Moyamoya disease in China: A nationwide hospital-based study.

Background: The national epidemiologic data in mainland China is still absent for moyamoya disease (MMD).

Methods: This study was a nationwide hospital-based observational retrospective study to estimate epidemiological characteristics of MMD. The data was based on the Hospital Quality Monitoring System (HQMS), a national database which covers all tertiary hospitals in mainland China.

Background: Programmed cell death 1 (PD-1) blockade induces tumor regression in patients with advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC); however, little is known about the efficacy of PD-1 blockade as neoadjuvant therapy in resectable ESCC. We aim to assess the safety and feasibility of using the combination of neoadjuvant PD-1 blockade with chemotherapy in patients with ESCC.

The compositional and structural degeneration of the EP may cause both nutritional as well as mechanical impairment to the nucleus pulposus (NP) so that developing drugs that target the degenerating EP may be another option in addition to targeting the NP.

Investigating the Causal Relationship Between Physical Activity and Chronic Back Pain: A Bidirectional Two-Sample Mendelian Randomization Study.

Recent observational studies have reported a negative association between physical activity and chronic back pain (CBP), but the causality of the association remains unknown. We introduce bidirectional Mendelian randomization (MR) to assess potential causal inference between physical activity and CBP. This two-sample MR used independent genetic variants associated with physical activity and CBP as genetic instruments from large genome-wide association studies (GWASs).

Introduction: Low back pain (LBP) is one of the most highly prevalent pain both in developed countries and low-income and middle-income countries. Despite increasing healthcare resources and numerous treatment methods for LBP, the efficacy of these therapeutic strategies is still uncertain. Recently, core stability exercise (CSE) is popularly applied as a preventive or rehabilitative method in the treatment of LBP.

Unusual cause of gastrointestinal bleeding in an 84-year-old woman: a miraculous survival from an aortoduodenal fistula repair.

An 84-year-old woman presented acutely with dizziness, fatigue and a total of 800 mL of fresh per rectum (PR) bleeding. The significant history of abdominal aortic aneurysm repair 5 years ago included multiple episodes of endovascular leak around the stent associated with abscess of left psoas major, left abdominal wall abscess with sinus formation, appendicitis with abscess formation, and acute pancreatic and chronic cholecystitis with multiple gallstones in the 7 months prior to this presentation. During the preceding 7 months, the patient was stabilised with an intravenous proton pump inhibitor, blood transfusions and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) management for the assumed diagnosis of stress ulcers over multiple hospital admissions.

Cost-effectiveness analysis of different screening strategies for colorectal cancer in Guangzhou, southern China: a Markov simulation analysis based on natural community screening results.
