Acute kidney injury (AKI) after liver transplantation (LT) is a common complication, and its development is thought to be multifactorial. We aimed to investigate potential risk factors and build a model to identify high-risk patients. A total of 199 LT patients were enrolled and each patient data was collected from the electronic medical records.

Background: The triglyceride and glucose (TyG) index is associated with the risk of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), but the dose-response relationship between them is still unknown. We conducted a comprehensive meta-analysis to study the dose-response association between the TyG index and the risk of NAFLD.

Methods: We systematically searched the Cochrane Library, PubMed, and Embase databases until July 2022 for relevant studies.

Olverembatinib represents the third-generation breakpoint cluster region protein-Abelson-murine leukemia 1 (BCR-ABL1) tyrosine kinase inhibitor with oral bioavailability, which can be used to overcome the T315I mutation in Philadelphia chromosome-positive (Ph +) leukemia. BCR-ABL-independent resistance to olverembatinib has been reported among patients in various clinical cases. However, the mechanism of olverembatinib resistance has rarely been reported.

Summary Of Background Data: Odontoidectomy aims to decompress the medulla oblongata and is usually performed through the classical transoral approach, which affects oropharynx and accompanied with high rate of complications comprising swallowing and respiratory tract. We have developed a minimal invasive method a standard cervical anterior approach: full-endoscopic trans-cervical odontoidectomy, which provides an alternative access for the resection of odontoid process and medulla oblongata decompression without traversing potentially contaminated cavities.

Methods: From 2018 to 2020, three patients with either odontoid process lesion or basilar invagination underwent full-endoscopic uniportal trans-cervical odontoidectomy with/without combining the posterior instrumentation.

Drug-related problems (DRPs) are common among surgical patients, especially older patients with polypharmacy and underlying diseases. DRPs can potentially lead to morbidity, mortality, and increased treatment costs. The enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) system has shown great advantages in managing surgical patients.

Cartilage is derived from the chondrogenic differentiation of stem cells, for which the regulatory mechanism has not been fully elucidated. N6-methyladenosine (m6A) messenger RNA (mRNA) methylation is the most common posttranscriptional modification in eukaryotic mRNAs and is mediated by m6A regulators. However, whether m6A regulators play roles in chondrogenic differentiation is unknown.

Purpose: The aim of this study is to develop a machine learning model to identify important clinical features related to rotator cuff tears (RCTs) using explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) for efficiently predicting outpatients with RCTs.

Methods: A retrospective review of a local clinical registry dataset was performed to include patients with shoulder pain and dysfunction who underwent questionnaires and physical examinations between 2019 and 2022. RCTs were diagnosed by shoulder arthroscopy.

Background: Several kinds of motor dysfunction have been studied for predicting future fall risk in community-dwelling older individuals. However, no study has tested the ability of the fine motor index (FINEA) and gross motor index (GROSSA) to predict the risk of falling, as well as the specific fall type.

Objective: We investigated the associations of FINEA/GROSSA scores with fall risk, explained falls, and unexplained falls.

Phase I study of LZM005 in patients with HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer.

NPJ Breast Cancer

December 2022

State Key Laboratory of Oncology in South China, Collaborative Innovation Center for Cancer Medicine, Sun Yat-Sen University Cancer Center, Guangzhou, 510060, P. R. China.

The prognosis of human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) positive metastatic breast cancer (MBC) remained unsatisfactory currently, more anti-HER2 agents are needed. Here we report a phase I study that evaluated the safety, activity, and biomarkers of LZM005, a HER2 antibody, used as a monotherapy or in combination with trastuzumab plus docetaxel in patients with HER2-positive MBC. From October 2017 to December 2019, 34 patients received LZM005 (14 monotherapy, 20 combination therapy).

Challenges in next generation sequencing of homology recombination repair genomic variants in prostate cancer: A nationwide survey and calibration project in China.

Prostate Int

December 2022

Department of Pathology, State Key Laboratory of Complex Severe and Rare Diseases, Molecular Pathology Research Center, Peking Union Medical College Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College, Beijing 100730, China.

Background: Homologous Recombination Repair (HRR) is the most reliable and important signaling pathway for repairing DNA damage. We initiated a calibration project to better understand the NGS landscape for HRR gene testing in China, provide indications for testing standardization, and guide clinical practice.

Methods: A questionnaire was used to collect laboratory information, panel design for HRR gene testing, tissue sample test parameters, plasma ctDNA sample test parameters, and procedures for variant interpretation.

December 2022

The Second Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine, Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Research on Emergency in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Guangzhou 510120, Guangdong, China.

Objective: To observe the results of electroacupuncture (EA) on the resuscitation of a rat model of asphyxia cardiac arrest (CA). And to explore its effect on the neurologic deficits and hemodynamic instability of post-cardiac arrest syndrome (PCAS).

Methods: A total of 107 male SD rats were randomly divided into sham, CA, and EA groups.

This study investigated the effects of glucose and osmotic pressure on the proliferation and cell cycle of trophoblast cells. HTR8/SVneo cells were treated with 0 (no glucose), 1 (low glucose), 5 (normal), and 25 mmol/L (high glucose) glucose. In addition, the cells were treated with 5 mmol/L glucose (normal) and 5 mmol/L glucose + 20 mmol/L mannitol (mannitol).

With the increasing incidence of metabolic diseases year by year and their impact on the incidence of cardiovascular diseases, metabolic diseases have attracted great attention as a major health care problem, but there is still no effective treatment. Oxidative stress and inflammation are the main mechanisms leading to metabolic diseases. T cells are involved in the inflammatory response, which can also regulate the development of metabolic diseases, CD4+ T cells and CD8+ T cells are mainly responsible for the role.

Objective: Kruppel-associated box (KRAB) proteins reportedly play a dual role in neoplastic transformation. At present, little is known about the function of the proteins encoded by the human pogo transposable element derived with KRAB domain (POGK) gene. Herein, we evaluated the prognostic significance of POGK expression in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).

Purpose: To determine the association between ammonium concentration in culture medium and blastocyst development and to assess the influence of increased ammonium concentration on the expression of Bax, Bcl-2 and Oct4.

Methods: A total of 254 cleavage-stage embryos were individually cultured in 30μL G2-plus medium on Day 3, and then culture media samples were collected on Day 5 for ammonium concentration determination immediately after evaluating the embryos morphology. Poor-quality blastocysts (combined score of CC) were used for gene expression analysis.

Background: Many studies have examined how to achieve better outcomes in myocardial infarction (MI) patients with mild obesity or who are overweight. However, the influence of a high-fat diet (HFD) and the underlying mechanisms by which it can affect ventricular remodeling following MI are poorly understood. This study investigated the impact of a 12-week HFD on the left ventricular (LV) remodeling of permanent MI models and immune cell involvement.
