Purpose: A Disintegrin and Metalloproteinase (ADAM) and A Disintegrin and Metalloproteinase with Thrombospondin Motif (ADAMTS) have been reported potentially involved in bone metabolism and related to bone mineral density. This Mendelian Randomization (MR) analysis was performed to determine whether there are causal associations of serum ADAM/ADAMTS with BMD in rid of confounders.
Methods: The genome-wide summary statistics of four site-specific BMD measurements were obtained from studies in individuals of European ancestry, including forearm (n = 8,143), femoral neck (n = 32,735), lumbar spine (n = 28,498) and heel (n = 426,824).

Noncoding ribonucleic acids (ncRNAs) are a class of ribonucleic acids (RNAs) that carry cellular information and perform essential functions. This class encompasses various RNAs, such as small nuclear ribonucleic acids (snRNA), small interfering ribonucleic acids (siRNA) and many other kinds of RNA. Of these, circular ribonucleic acids (circRNAs) and long noncoding ribonucleic acids (lncRNAs) are two types of ncRNAs that regulate crucial physiological and pathological processes, including binding, in several organs through interactions with other RNAs or proteins.

Glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis (GIOP), one of the most common and serious adverse effects associated with glucocorticoid administration, manifests as decreased bone formation and increased bone resorption, eventually culminating in bone loss. Galangin (GAL) is a flavonoid extracted from the medicinal herbal galangal that possesses a variety of pharmacological activities and can inhibit osteoclastogenesis. However, the effects of GAL on GIOP remain unclear.

Background: Transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM) is often found in patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). However, the evidence regarding ATTR-CM and prognosis in HFpEF remains scarce. This study sought to determine whether the ATTR-CM burden was associated with clinical outcomes in HFpEF patients.

Background And Purpose: Acute lung injury (ALI) is a serious, life-threatening inflammation of the lungs that still lacks effective treatment. We previously showed that serine protease inhibitor B1 (SerpinB1) protects against ALI induced by orthotopic autologous liver transplantation. However, the role of SerpinB1 in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced ALI and its regulatory mechanisms are not known.

Ferroptosis, a newly identified iron-dependent form of cell death, has recently been implicated in the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease (PD). Dl-3-n-butylphthalide (NBP) attenuates behavioral and cognitive deficits in animal models of PD. However, the potential of NBP to prevent dopaminergic neuron death by suppressing ferroptosis has rarely been explored.

Background: The triglyceride glucose (TyG) index, a metric for estimating insulin resistance (IR), is linked with cardiovascular disease (CVD) morbidity and mortality among the population regardless of diabetic status. However, IR prevalence and the association between the TyG index and heart failure (HF) in Americans is unclear.
Methods: The Nation Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) (2009-2018) dataset was used.

Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is one of the most significant cardiovascular risk factors, playing vital roles in various cardiovascular diseases such as calcific aortic valve disease (CAVD). We aim to explore the CKD-associated genes potentially involving CAVD pathogenesis, and to discover candidate biomarkers for the diagnosis of CKD with CAVD.
Methods: Three CAVD, one CKD-PBMC and one CKD-Kidney datasets of expression profiles were obtained from the GEO database.

Homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) testing has been approved by FDA for selecting epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) patients who may benefit from the first-line poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibitor (PARPi) maintenance therapy. However, the effects of HRD on the clinical outcomes of first-line chemotherapy and first-line PARPi maintenance therapy have not been rigorously evaluated in Chinese EOC patients. Here, we developed an HRD assay and applied it to two large retrospectively collected Chinese EOC patient cohorts.

Intervertebral disc degeneration is mainly caused by irregular matrix metabolism in nucleus pulposus cells and involves inflammatory factors such as TNF-α. Rosuvastatin, which is widely used in the clinic to reduce cholesterol levels, exerts anti-inflammatory effects, but whether rosuvastatin participates in IDD remains unclear. The current study aims to investigate the regulatory effect of rosuvastatin on IDD and the potential mechanism.

Objective: Our study aims to evaluate the association between heart rate variability (HRV) and short- and long-term prognosis in patients admitted to intensive care unit (ICU). Methods and Results: Adult patients continuously monitored for over 24 h in ICUs from the the American Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care (MIMIC)-IV Waveform Database were recruited in our study. Twenty HRV-related variables (8 time domain, 6 frequency domain, and 6 nonlinear variables) were calculated based on RR intervals.

Objective: The triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index has been shown to be a new alternative measure for insulin resistance. However, no study has attempted to investigate the association of the TyG index with incident atrial fibrillation (AF) in the general population without known cardiovascular diseases.
Methods: Individuals without known cardiovascular diseases (heart failure, coronary heart disease, or stroke) from the Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities (ARIC) cohort were recruited.

Background: Several studies have shown that glycated albumin (GA) is a more accurate measure of short-term blood sugar control in patients with dialysis. We aim to investigate the relationship between GA and the risk of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) and mortality in patients both with and without dialysis.
Materials And Methods: We searched cohort studies of associations between GA level and CVD and mortality in PubMed, Cochrane Library and Embase databases.

Wound healing has been a great challenge throughout human history. Improper treatment for wounds is so easy to lead to infection and a series of serious symptoms, even death. Because of the ability of absorbing fluid and keeping a moist environment, the hydrogel with 3D networks is ideal candidate for wound dressing.

Elabela (ELA), which is the second endogenous peptide ligand of the apelin receptor (APJ) to be discovered, has been widely studied for potential use as a therapeutic peptide. However, its role in ischemic stroke (IS), which is a leading cause of disability and death worldwide and has limited therapeutic options, is uncertain. The aim of the present study was to investigate the beneficial effects of ELA on neuron survival after ischemia and the underlying molecular mechanisms.

Background: The flap based on the facial-angular vessels (FAVs) has several names and cannot capture the hemodynamics.
Aims: This study was performed to assess the reliability of various types of flaps based on the FAVs for reconstructing oral and maxillofacial defects following cancer ablation.
Patients And Methods: Forty-three oral and maxillofacial defects were reconstructed with facial-angular artery island flaps (FAAIF, n =14), including V-Y advancement-type and rotation-type flaps based on FAVs and reverse-flow FAAIFs (R-FAAIF, n =29), including ipsilateral, contralateral rotation, full-thickness, and folded types, based on distal FAVs following cancer ablation.

Background: Multiple preclinical studies have reported a beneficial effect of extracellular vesicles (EVs), especially mesenchymal stem cells derived EVs (MSC-EVs), in the treatment of sepsis. However, the therapeutic effect of EVs is still not universally recognized. Therefore, we conducted this meta-analysis by summarizing data from all published studies that met certain criteria to systematically review the association between EVs treatment and mortality in animal models of sepsis.
