Juvenile hyaline fibromatosis (JHF) is a rare systemic disease characterized by papulonodular skin lesions, gingival hyperplasia, joint contractures, and osteolytic lesions on long bones and the skull. It has recently been reported that the disease is caused by mutations in the gene encoding capillary morphogenesis protein-2 (CMG-2). To date, fewer than 60 cases have been published in the literature.

Trichobezoars are concretions of hair casts in the stomach associated with trichotillomania and trichophagia. The condition is termed Rapunzel syndrome when formation of a huge trichobezoar extends to the small bowel, resulting in gastrointestinal obstruction. We present a 19-year-old girl who had complaints of colicky abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting seven years after surgical treatment for a gastric trichobezoar.

Background: This prospective study was conducted to investigate whether interval appendectomy was necessary after successful conservative treatment of appendiceal masses.

Methods: Thirty-seven patients with a diagnosis of appendiceal mass by physical examination and ultrasonography were initially treated conservatively with broad-spectrum antibiotics, anti-inflammatory drugs, and, if required, intravenous fluid treatment. Interval appendectomy was ruled out in 28 patients who responded well to conservative treatment, three of whom were then lost to follow-up.

Objectives: We evaluated the long-term results of early primary repair of flexor pollicis longus (FPL) tendon injuries with the modified Kessler method and circumferential sutures.

Methods: Thirty patients (10 females, 20 males; mean age 26 years; range 4 to 52 years) were treated primarily with end-to-end anastomosis for FPL tendon injuries at the level of zone I to IV. Injuries were in the left thumb in 16 patients and in the right thumb in 14 patients.

Objectives: We evaluated the results of radial head fractures treated with open reduction and internal fixation.

Methods: Fifteen patients (9 men, 6 women; mean age 38 years; range 23 to 46 years) underwent open reduction and internal fixation for radial head fractures. According to the Mason classification system, the fractures were type II in seven patients, type III in five patients, and type IV in three patients.

The rupture of the distal tendon of the biceps brachii muscle is a rarely encountered injury, causing flexion and supination losses. There are literature reports giving good results with the use of two-incision technique that fixes the distal biceps brachii tendon to the radial tuberosity. We used this technique in a 49-year-old male patient who had had left distal tendinous rupture of the biceps brachii muscle caused by lifting heavy weight.
