Twinkling artifact in color Doppler imaging is related both to the presence of a strongly reflective structure and to the scanner's settings. This artifact has been described in association with calculi and various foreign bodies, but to our knowledge it has not been reported in a hepatic mass. If a calcified hepatic mass is examined with color Doppler Mapping without using spectral Doppler analysis, misinterpreted as real blood flow and lead to the erroneous of hypervascular mass.

Purpose: Our aim was to compare the Doppler ultrasonography (US) parameters with clinical activity score (CAS) in patients with Graves' ophthalmopathy.

Methods: Blood flow parameters in the ophthalmic artery (OA), superior ophthalmic vein (SOV), central retinal artery (CRA) and central retinal vein (CRV) were measured by Doppler US in 118 patients with Graves' disease in 3 groups (A, B, and C) and 20 control subjects. Group A included 25 patients with CAS value "0"; group B 55 patients with CAS value "1 or 2"; group C 38 patients with CAS value "3 or above.

A prospective comparison of different direct and indirect Doppler parameters with angiography was performed to determine the most useful Doppler parameters and threshold values for the detection of significant (> or =60%) renal artery stenosis (RAS). The best combination of parameters was found to be the use of direct parameters of peak systolic velocity (PSV) greater than 180 or 200 cm/s and renal aortic ratio (RAR) greater than 3.0 with a sensitivity and specificity at 92% and 88%, respectively.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of various diagnostic tests including transrectal ultrasound (TRUS), TRUS guided biopsy, digital rectal examination (DRE), prostate specific antigen (PSA), and prostate specific antigen density (PSAD) in detecting prostatic carcinomas. One hundred and thirty-four men underwent TRUS guided random, or directed and random sonographic biopsies of the prostate. The mean age was 64.

A woman who had been operated on previously for a paraspinal hydatid cyst presented with claudication of the lower limbs. Computed tomographic and magnetic resonance images showed multiple cysts in the soft tissues of the back, retroperitoneum, and lumen of the aorta and iliac arteries. Occlusion of the aorta and iliac arteries by recurrent hydatid cysts after previous surgery was confirmed with angiography and subsequent surgical exploration.

Objective: Percutaneous treatment of hydatid cysts is relatively new, and the data related to it are limited. The purpose of this study was to provide additional data to strengthen the proof of its effectiveness.

Subjects And Methods: One hundred sixty-eight hepatic cysts in 111 patients were treated using a percutaneous approach under sonographic and fluoroscopic guidance.
