Introduction: Shuai Shou Gong (SSG) is a type of Arm Swing Exercise (ASE) developed and practiced especially by older people in China for over one thousand years to maintain physical health and well-being. Until now the potential benefits of SSG have not been investigated in a Randomised Control Trial (RCT).
Materials And Methods: Fifty six older women were recruited from each of two urban communities in Khon Kaen, Thailand.

This case report discusses a 13-year-old female with a known history of type 1 diabetes mellitus presenting with pain in bilateral lower limbs, generalized weakness, and fatigue. After laboratory examinations, hypoparathyroidism was diagnosed based on low serum calcium, elevated serum phosphorous, and lower serum intact parathyroid hormone (PTH) levels. Treatment with calcium and vitamin D supplements led to a reduction in the patient's symptoms.

Ventral hernias with large defects (≥ 2 cm) are managed with tension free mesh repair. The growing consensus that sublay (retrorectus) mesh repair is superior to onlay mesh repair due to fewer complications is based on literature dominated by retrospective studies from high and upper-middle income countries. There is thus a need of more prospective studies from various countries to resolve the controversy.

Objective: Somatic symptom disorder (SSD) is one of the most common reasons for consultations in primary care, in addition to simple acute infections. Questionnaire-based screening instruments to identify patients at high risk of SSD are thus of great clinical relevance. Although screening instruments are frequently used, it is currently unclear to what extent they are influenced by the concurrent presence of simple acute infections.

Intravenous access is very crucial in administration of fluids, medications and nutrition. Almost all inpatients will require it and the simplest and quickest access is peripheral with the preferred sites being either dorsum hand, radial wrist or forearm. It has its complications, of which most are avoidable.

Reports have shown the association of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) with several neuromuscular disorders. Myasthenia gravis (MG) is an autoimmune disease in which antibodies bind to acetyl choline receptors in the postsynaptic membrane at the neuromuscular junction. The characteristic clinical feature of the disease is weakness of the ocular muscle, bulbar muscle, and extremity muscles; when the weakness is limited to the ocular muscle only, the condition is known as ocular myasthenia gravis.

The currently available various methods of estimation of total iron binding capacity (TIBC) show marked variation in reference range. Although serum transferrin (TF) level is a sensitive indicator of iron status, its measurement requires immunoassay equipment which may not be available in many routine biochemistry laboratories. So, this study was planned to find the most appropriate method to estimate TIBC.

Purpose: To assess the knowledge of nursing staff on ocular care in medical intensive care unit (ICU) and to compare the incidence of ocular surface disorders in patients of medical ICU pre- and post-training. Methods: Two hundred patients admitted in medical ICU for more than 24 h underwent a detailed ocular examination along with documentation of ICU stay, ventilation status, and Glasgow coma scale (GCS) scoring. An assessment on ocular care knowledge among the nursing staff of medical ICU was done.

Background: Local resection, including endoscopic resection, is recommended for rectal neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) < 15 mm in patients without risk factors for metastasis, though the short- and long-term outcomes are unclear.
Aims: This study investigates the efficacy of endoscopic resection for rectal NETs < 15 mm.
Methods: The short- and long-term outcomes of patients with rectal NETs < 15 mm who underwent endoscopic resection and the outcomes of each endoscopic technique were analyzed.

Oxidative stress drives protein S-glutathionylation, which regulates the structure and function of target proteins and is implicated in the pathogenesis of many diseases. Glutaredoxin 1 (Grx1), a cytoplasmic deglutathionylating enzyme, maintains a reducing environment within the cell under various conditions by reversing S-glutathionylation. Grx1 performs a wide range of antioxidant activities in the lens and prevents protein-thiol mixed disulfide accumulation, reducing protein-protein aggregation, insolubilization, and apoptosis of lens epithelial cells.

Extracellular matrix (ECM) remodeling of the skin is a continuous process necessary for maintaining tissue homeostasis. Type VI collagen (COL6) is characterized as a beaded filament, located in the dermal ECM, where COL6-α6-chain has been demonstrated upregulated in atopic dermatitis. The aim of this study was to develop and validate a competitive ELISA, targeting the N-terminal of COL6-α6-chain, named C6A6, and evaluate its associations with the dermatological condition's atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, hidradenitis suppurativa, systemic lupus erythematosus, systemic sclerosis, urticaria, vitiligo, and cutaneous malignant melanoma in comparison, to healthy controls.

Background: The use of azithromycin reduces maternal infection in women during unplanned cesarean delivery, but its effect on those with planned vaginal delivery is unknown. Data are needed on whether an intrapartum oral dose of azithromycin would reduce maternal and offspring sepsis or death.
Methods: In this multicountry, placebo-controlled, randomized trial, we assigned women who were in labor at 28 weeks' gestation or more and who were planning a vaginal delivery to receive a single 2-g oral dose of azithromycin or placebo.

Background And Objectives: Damage to small nerve fibers is common in diabetic polyneuropathy (DPN), and the diagnosis of DPN relies on subjective symptoms and signs in a combination with objective confirmatory tests, typically electrophysiology or intraepidermal nerve fiber density (IENFD) from skin biopsy. Corneal confocal microscopy (CCM) has been introduced as a tool to detect DPN. However, it is unclear if CCM can reliably be used to diagnose DPN and how the technique compares with other commonly used measures of small fiber damage, such as IENFD, cold detection threshold (CDT), and warm detection threshold (WDT).

Congenital syphilis is an outcome of maternal syphilis that occurs due to the transmission of via the placenta of untreated or inadequately treated pregnant women to their newborns. It is now a very rare cause of neurological, developmental, and musculoskeletal disability and death in infants after the advent of penicillin. Here, we report a case of late congenital syphilis presented with classic stigmata of syphilis at the age of 10 years.

Transepidermal elimination (TE) is a well-known phenomenon by which dermal materials are expelled through an active epithelial-dermal connective tissue interaction. It has been associated with many cutaneous disorders and described as a regular or sporadic occurrence in a variety of dermatologic conditions. TE as a means of expulsion by skin, either externally introduced or endogenously generated foreign material, is well recognized but rarely appreciated phenomenon.

Purpose: To compare the absorbable and nonabsorbable suture knots on the tendon on bone-to-tendon healing during the early phase in a rat rotator cuff tear (RCT) model.
Methods: Fifty-two male Sprague-Dawley rats (10 weeks old; mean weight, 380 g) were used in this study, and 51 of them were randomly assigned into three groups: absorbable suture group (ASG, n = 22), nonabsorbable suture group (NSG, n = 22), and sham surgery group (SSG, n = 7), and the remaining rat was used to take surgical pictures. Bilateral supraspinatus tendon tears were created and repaired immediately in ASG and NSG.
