Background: Minimally invasive surgery (MIS) in medial displacement calcaneus osteotomy (MDCO) has been proposed for surgical correction of adult-acquired flat foot deformity (AAFD) to reduce complications of open approaches. The aim of our study is to systematically analyze complications and the clinical and radiological results of MIS- MDCO.
Methods: A systematic review of the English literature was performed on 30th October 2023.

Since ancient history, men have been attempting to intervene when skull trauma occurs. The majority of traumas were always linked to war injuries, and in the modern era, the culprit was reached during World War I. Cranial traumas in wartime were very common, and consequently, physicians in wartime became particularly interested in the subject of cranial traumatology.

Case: A 51-year-old man was affected by a fracture-related infection after a bicolumnar acetabular fracture. A significant alteration of the anatomy was present; thus, a 3D-printed model was useful for planning. A two-stage treatment was planned: in the first stage, implant removal with irrigation and debridement was performed, while in the second stage, a new osteosynthesis and implant of a THA were planned.

Burr holes in the cranial vault are usually made during trephination for craniotomy or drainage of chronic subdural hematomas. The resulting cranial defect might bring to unsatisfactory esthetic outcome. In the current study the authors report clinical data regarding a cohort of patients who were treated with 3 different types of burr hole covers; autologous bone dust from skull trephination, and 2 different types of cylindric plug made out of porous hydroxyapatite in order to evaluate medium and long-term esthetic and radiological outcomes.

Background: Traumatic brain injury (TBI) can be considered a "silent epidemic", causing morbidity, disability, and mortality in all age cohorts. Therefore, a greater understanding of the underlying pathophysiological intricate mechanisms and interactions with other organs and systems is necessary to intervene not only in the treatment but also in the prevention of complications. In this complex of reciprocal interactions, the complex brain-gut axis has captured a growing interest.

Purpose: To assess the diagnostic accuracy of contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) and computed tomography (CT) within Bosniak IIF/III categories.
Methods: After cystic renal mass diagnosis by contrast-enhanced CT, all patients with Bosniak score ≥ II also underwent CEUS between March 2017 and March 2019. Their exams were retrospectively analyzed.

Cranioplasty is a common neurosurgical procedure performed to reconstruct cranial defects. The most common cranioplasty materials used today can be divided into 2 types: autologous bone and bone substitutes, such as polyetheretherketone, titanium mesh, poly-methyl methacrylate, and Hydroxyapatite (HA). Infection represents one of the most feared complications, ranging from 2.

Asbestos is considered the main cause of diseases in workers exposed to this mineral in the workplace as well as an environmental pollutant. The association between asbestos and the onset of different diseases has been reported, but asbestos exposure specific biomarkers are not known. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small, single-strand, non-coding RNAs, with potential value as diagnostic, prognostic, and predictive markers in liquid biopsies.

Cranberry is a fruit originally from New England and currently growing throughout the east and northeast parts of the USA and Canada. The supplementation of cranberry extracts as nutraceuticals showed to contribute to the prevention of urinary tract infections, and most likely it may help to prevent cardiovascular and gastroenteric diseases, as highlighted by several clinical trials. However, aiming to validate the efficacy and safety of clinical applications as long-term randomized clinical trials (RCTs), further investigations of the mechanisms of action are required.

Systemic or localized lympho-adenomegaly is a common cause of access to the emergency department (ED), and differential diagnosis is often complicated. The combination of anamnesis, physical examination, laboratory tests, and instrumental diagnosis are extremely important to orientate toward a rapid and correct therapy, even if a prompt discrimination of the etiology of this lymphadenomegaly is not often possible. Our aim with this review is to improve the management of a differential diagnosis between hematological and infective diseases as leishmaniasis in ED and suggest quick diagnostic techniques that might be useful for early identification.

Introduction: Partial-thickness rotator cuff tears are a common cause of shoulder pain and disability. Arthroscopic repair is an effective treatment for partial articular supraspinatus tendon avulsion (PASTA) lesions, and transtendon repair and completion of the tear and repair are the surgical techniques commonly used to treat such lesions. Our aim was to retrospectively evaluate the minimum 24-month clinical and radiological results of PASTA.
