Background: This 24-week randomized controlled trial aimed to evaluate the impact of multistrain probiotic supplementation on telomere length in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2DM). The study also assessed secondary outcomes including high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) and glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c).
Methods: A total of 124 participants with T2DM were randomly assigned to either a probiotic group ( = 62) or a placebo group ( = 62).

Jaundice due to excess bilirubin buildup in neonates remains an alarming problem, especially during the very first week of postnatal life. The common method of measuring total serum bilirubin (TSB) levels involves invasive blood testing, which is time-consuming and uncomfortable for neonates. While noninvasive transcutaneous bilirubinometers (TcB) are available, that often lack accuracy due to interference from other biological chromophores.

Introduction: Oral diseases are a major global health challenge, posing health and economic burdens that have profound impacts on the quality of life, disproportionately affecting marginalized populations such as tribal communities. Among scheduled tribes in India, the Irula community belongs to one of the tribes most vulnerable by poor access to health care and education. The elders in the population have increased incidence and prevalence rates of tooth morbidities-an increased incidence of caries, non-carious lesions, and periodontitis-related conditions that affect oral health related quality of life (OHQOL) dimensions.

Oxidative stress and inflammation are pivotal in linking COPD to NSCLC progression, with dysregulated cytokine levels in inflamed COPD airways correlating with disease severity and lung cancer advancement. CD4 T helper cells, pivotal in the inflammatory response, exhibit altered gene expression patterns in COPD and NSCLC, emphasizing their role in disease pathogenesis. Mitochondrial transcription factor A (mtTFA) dysregulation is implicated in inflammation and oxidative stress, affecting COPD and NSCLC progression.

Ehlers-Danlos syndromes (EDSs) are a group of connective tissue disorders with diverse clinical and genetic profiles. Classical Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (cEDS), the second most common type, is characterised by skin hyperextensibility, atrophic scars and joint hypermobility, primarily due to mutations in COL5A1 and COL5A2 genes. We report a case of an infant with severe cEDS presenting with motor developmental delay, joint hyperextensibility and cranio-cervical instability.

Vitamin D deficiency is a highly prevalent condition globally and has emerged as a significant risk factor for the development of coronary artery disease (CAD). Although its role in the regulation of phospho-calcic metabolism is well established, its involvement in the evolution of myocardial infarction (MI) is yet to be fully understood. Vitamin D deficiency is a manageable condition, and a reasonable time to assess and commence treatment is crucial, as the patient presents with acute myocardial infarction (AMI).

Measuring the uremic solute clearance is an important factor in analyzing the adequacy of maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) therapy. Conventionally hemodialysis (HD) adequacy was measured by urea removal through the Daugirdas single pool kt/V (spKt/V) formula. We aimed in our study to correlate online clearance monitoring (OCM) spKt/V to the Urea Reduction Ratio (URR) and Daugirdas spKt/V in maintenance hemodialysis patients.

Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are a predominant health concern globally, emphasizing the need for advanced diagnostic techniques. In our research, we present an avant-garde methodology that synergistically integrates ECG readings and retinal fundus images to facilitate the early disease tagging as well as triaging of the CVDs in the order of disease priority. Recognizing the intricate vascular network of the retina as a reflection of the cardiovascular system, alongwith the dynamic cardiac insights from ECG, we sought to provide a holistic diagnostic perspective.

This research delves into the association of Kisspeptin and the KISS gene (rs35431622) single nucleotide polymorphism with circulating sex hormones and semen parameters in males diagnosed with infertility. Eighty male participants were recruited from fertility clinic, were divided into two groups: Group A, characterized by normal sperm count and Group B, exhibiting low count. The analysis involved assessing hormone levels Kisspeptin, follicle stimulating hormone, luteinizing hormone, total testosterone and sex hormone binding globulin by utilizing ELISA, investigating the association of the KISS gene SNP with these variables through Tetra amplification refractory mutation system-PCR and Gel Electrophoresis.
