Background Information: Many institutes have implemented a strict antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) program in the postantibiotic era.

Aim: To investigate how the resistance pattern changes after implementation of a stringent AMS programme.

Methodology: It employs a defined daily dose methodology (DDD).

Background: Indirect calorimetry (IC) is the gold standard for measuring resting energy expenditure. Energy expenditure (EE) estimated by ventilator-derived carbon dioxide consumption (EEVCO ) has also been proposed. In the absence of IC, predictive weight-based equations have been recommended to estimate daily energy requirements.

Background: The present study was aimed to update the classification of hepatobiliary malformations and study the clinicopathological profile of pediatric choledochal cyst (CDC) and pediatric giant choledochal cyst (GCC) patients undergone surgery.

Methods: We have retrospectively analysed the data of 57 consecutive cases of CDCs in paediatric patients from a time period spanning from 2016 to 2020.

Results: Revised classification of hepatobiliary malformations was proposed and these were divided into 2 broad headings, choledochal (congenital and acquired) and extra-choledochal spectrum.

Bacterial meningitis remains a disease with devastating attack rates and growing drug resistance among causative bacteria. Early diagnosis and timely management has an implication on the prognosis and outcome. However, lack of laboratory facilities, travel time for the sample to reach the laboratory and the laborious laboratory methods may result in deferment in precise treatment resulting in avoidable morbidity and mortality.

Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, University of Utah School of Medicine, Huntsman Cancer Center, 30 N 1900E 4R118, Salt Lake City, UT, 84132, USA.

Introduction: Periampullary diverticulum (PAD) is most often asymptomatically found in elderly population. ERCP in the presence of PAD is technically challenging since the location and orientation of the ampulla could be altered. Various studies have reported differing results on the technical success and safety outcomes of ERCP in the presence of PAD.

Introduction: The present study attempts to examine the microbial profile and antibiotic susceptibility of diabetic foot infections in the intensive care unit of a tertiary referral centre for diabetic foot. As part of the study, we also attempted to find the prevalence of blaNDM-like gene among carbapenem-resistant gram negative infections.

Methodology: A prospective study of 261 patients with diabetic foot infections was performed during the period between January 2014 and June 2014.

Act Fast as Time Is Less: High Faecal Carriage of Carbapenem-Resistant in Critical Care Patients.

J Clin Diagn Res

September 2016

Research Scholar in Critical Microbiology, Department of Microbiology, S.L. Raheja Hospital (A Fortis Associate), Mumbai, Maharashtra, India .

Introduction: Carbapenem-resistant (CRE) are drug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria that are present in the community as well as in hospitals. Their infection and colonisation puts critically ill patients at high risk due to the drug-resistant nature of the strains and possible spreading of these organisms, even in a hospital environment.

Aim: To examine the presence and types of species in patients admitted directly from the community.

Unlabelled: Preamble: In the visage of multidrug resistance among gram negative bacilli, we look forward to carbapenem group of drugs as empiric choice in seriously ill patients. However increasing resistance to carbapenems, the last resort, is of growing concern for all. It's high time to look beyond Carbapenems and emphasize on Carbapenem sparers.
