The use of EndoAnchors in endovascular repair of abdominal aortic aneurysms with challenging proximal neck: Single-centre experience.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to present a single-centre experience with EndoAnchors in patients who underwent endovascular repair for abdominal aortic aneurysms with challenging proximal neck, both in the prevention and treatment of endograft migration and type Ia endoleaks.

Methods: We retrospectively analysed 17 consecutive patients treated with EndoAnchors between June 2015 and May 2018 at our institution. EndoAnchors were applied during the initial endovascular aneurysm repair procedure (primary implant) to prevent proximal neck complications in difficult anatomies (nine patients), and in the follow-up after aneurysm exclusion (secondary implant) to correct type Ia endoleak and/or stent-graft migration (eight patients).

Advanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of soft tissue tumors: techniques and applications.

Imaging evaluation of soft tissue tumors is important for the diagnosis, staging, and follow-up. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is the preferred imaging modality due to its multiplanarity and optimal tissue contrast resolution. However, standard morphological sequences are often not sufficient to characterize the exact nature of the lesion, addressing the patient to an invasive bioptic examination for the definitive diagnosis.

Carotid artery plaque characterization with a wide-detector computed tomography using a dedicated post-processing 3D analysis: comparison with histology.

Purpose: The characterization of atherosclerotic carotid plaque plays a key role in the identification of patients at risk. The aim of our work was to evaluate the potentialities of carotid computed tomography angiography (CCTA) in assessing composition of atherosclerotic plaque.

Materials And Methods: We retrospectively evaluated 29 patients (7 women and 22 men, age range 54-81; mean age 69) who underwent carotid endarterectomy.

Diagnostic imaging: pitfalls in rheumatology.

Although the diagnosis of arthritis and spondyloarthritis is based on clinical criteria, today the imaging methods are an indispensable aid to the rheumatologist. Imaging has not only the task of helping early diagnosis, but it has also a fundamental role in disease grading and therapeutic monitoring. In this scenario where many publications emphasize the importance of identifying synovitis and erosions at an early stage, it is essential to know the possible pitfalls which can determine both false positives and false negatives.

FTO rs9939609 Gene Polymorphism and Obesity: Lack of Association in Kidney Transplantation.

Unlabelled: The fat mass and obesity-associated (FTO) gene is one of the most important obesity susceptibility genes. Some FTO gene polymorphisms have been associated with obesity, diabetes, and hypertension, all conditions for which, after transplant, there is increased susceptibility, due to effects of immunosuppressive regimens. To evaluate whether FTO could be a candidate for targeted preventive intervention in the transplant setting, we investigated whether the common genetic variation, FTO rs9939609T>A, could affect weight gain and risk of cardiovascular complications in kidney transplantation.

Acute-phase endovascular management of an uncommon bleeding peripancreatic pseudoaneurysm.

Pancreatic pseudoaneurysms represent relatively rare but potentially lethal complications of acute or chronic pancreatitis, involving several visceral arteries. Due to their intrinsic instability and subsequent high risk of massive bleeding, these lesions require prompt treatment, regardless of the size of the pseudoaneurysm. First option of treatment is today represented by transcatheter embolization; this treatment, in fact, shows higher rates of clinical and technical success and lower recurrence rates than conventional surgery.

Palbociclib plus endocrine therapy in HER2 negative, hormonal receptor-positive, advanced breast cancer: A real-world experience.

Data from 423 human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-negative (HER2-), hormone receptor-positive (HR+) advanced breast cancer (aBC) patients treated with palbociclib and endocrine therapy (ET) were provided by 35 Italian cancer centers and analyzed for treatment outcomes. Overall, 158 patients were treated in first line and 265 in second/later lines. We observed 19 complete responses and 112 partial responses.

Percutaneous management of bone metastases: state of the art, interventional strategies and joint position statement of the Italian College of MSK Radiology (ICoMSKR) and the Italian College of Interventional Radiology (ICIR).

Interventional radiology provides local management of bone metastases (BM) with a palliative intent in most cases, or with a curative intent in selected patients. Its role has rapidly expanded in the last decade, offering new treatment solutions often in combination with surgery, radiation therapy and medical treatments. The aim of the present paper is to increase awareness, acceptance and adoption of interventional radiology procedures for the treatment of BM; and to present the joint position of the Italian College of Musculoskeletal Radiology and the Italian College of Interventional Radiology.

Background: Dose-dense chemotherapy is one of the treatments of choice for neoadjuvant therapy in breast cancer (BC). Activating mutations in gene predict worse response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy for HER2-positive patients, while their role is less clearly defined for HER2-negative tumors.

Frequency of natural RASs in a large Italian real-life cohort of patients infected with the 4 main HCV-GTs was investigated. Role of interventional radiology in the management of musculoskeletal soft-tissue lesions.

The lesions of the soft tissues are rare and extremely heterogeneous; even if the surgical treatment is usually the standard therapy, the role of the interventional radiology (IR) in this field is growing up for multiple reasons. First, because the imaging alone usually is not able to ensure a definitive diagnosis, IR has a basic role in the staging: the percutaneous biopsy is infact an irreplaceable step. Moreover, biopsy is necessary not only for histologic evaluations but also for the biochemical and molecular studies.

Despite a growing interest in this devastating disorder for families and young parents, there are no certainties as regards its aetiology, although a significant genetic background is considered to be important. Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a common chronic liver disease. It can progress to nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and, in a percentage of cases, to hepatocarcinogenesis. Melphalan hypoxic perfusion with hemofiltration for melanoma locoregional metastases in the pelvis.
