Background: Although nutraceutical-based treatments are often offered for erectile dysfunction (ED), their efficacy remains doubtful, and the choice of one substance over the other is challenged by the dearth of head-to-head comparative studies.
Aim: We aimed to compare the efficacy of available nutraceutical interventions, alone or in combination with phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors (PDE5i), in improving erectile function in men with ED through a network meta-analysis (NMA), which incorporates direct and indirect evidence into one model thus generating a hierarchy of effectiveness.
Methods: PubMed, Scopus, Web of Sciences, and Cochrane Library databases were searched for randomized placebo-controlled trials (RCTs) assessing the effect of any nutraceutical regimen in improving erectile function when compared to each other, placebo, and/or PDE5i in men with ED.

Introduction: Hypertension is the main risk factor for cardiovascular diseases (CVD). Notably, only about half of hypertensive patients manage to achieve the recommended blood pressure (BP) control. Main reasons for the persistence of uncontrolled BP during treatment are lack of compliance on the patients' side, and therapeutic inertia on physicians' side.

Introduction: The management of Peyronie's disease (PD) is a challenge for the clinician. Despite the lack of etiologic therapy, different nonsurgical approaches have often been empirically proposed. The most used treatment is based on nutraceutical drugs with antioxidant activity, although such an intervention remains controversial.

Background: Current evidence about intraoperative anastomotic testing after left-sided colorectal resections is still controversial. The aim of this study was to analyze the impact of Indocyanine Green fluorescent angiography (ICG-FA) and air-leak test (ALT) over standard assessment on anastomotic leakage (AL) rates according to surgeon's perception of anastomosis perfusion and/or integrity in clinical practice.
Methods: A database of 2061 patients who underwent left-sided colorectal resections was selected from patients enrolled in a prospective multicenter study.

Achievement of adequate ventilation skills during training courses is mainly based on instructors' perception of attendees' capability to ventilate with correct rate and chest compression:ventilation ratio, while leading to chest raising, as evidence of adequate tidal volume. Accuracy in evaluating ventilation competence was assessed in 20 ACLS provider course attendees, by comparing course instructors' evaluation with measures from a ventilation feedback device. According to course instructors, all candidates acquired adequate ventilation competence.

Purpose: The aim of this registry was to assess technical success, procedural safety and mid- to long-term follow-up results of the Silk Vista "Mama" (SVM) flow diverter (BALT, Montmorency, France) for the treatment of proximal intracranial aneurysms.
Methods: Between August 2020 and March 2022, data from nine Italian neurovascular centres were collected. Data included patients' clinical presentation, aneurysms' size, location and status, technical details, overall complications and mid- to long-term angiographic follow-up.

Background: Phosphodiesterase 5 inhibitors (PDE5i) are the first-line drugs for erectile dysfunction (ED) but differences among available molecules should drive therapy personalization. Choosing one PDE5i over another is a challenge in men with spinal cord injury (SCI), as the evidence of efficacy for each molecule is derived from few studies and comparative "head-to-head" trials are lacking.
Objective: To assess the efficacy of the different PDE5i for SCI-related ED with a network meta-analysis (NMA) approach.

While telephone-assisted cardiopulmonary resuscitation (T-CPR) is crucial for improving the chances of survival during cardiac arrest, there is limited information available on the effectiveness of T-CPR when administered by laypeople, especially those who are unfamiliar with these procedures. Therefore, we assessed the influence of basic life support and defibrillation (BLSD) training on the proficiency of T-CPR carried out by volunteer medical students participating in a BLSD course, using a simulated cardiac arrest scenario. The quality of T-CPR maneuvers was compared before and after the BLSD course.

Purpose: This study investigated the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on mental health, quality of life, and family functioning in a sample of the general female population, exploring difficulties encountered in managing family and work responsibilities and burden of care when taking care of a loved one. This study was, moreover, aimed at investigating factors capable of influencing severe depressive symptomatology in the context of socio-demographics, traumatic events, individual vulnerability, and family functioning.
Method: The sampling method used in this research was non-probability sampling.

About 50% of Crohn's Disease (CD) patients undergo an intestinal resection during their lifetime. Although the patients experience a fairly long period of well-being after the intestinal resection, they presented a postoperative recurrence (POR) in 40% of cases within 5 years. In this case series, we aimed to evaluate the incidence of POR in CD patients with high risk for early POR, prophylactically treated with Vedolizumab.

The parasternal block is an ultrasound-guided interfascial plane block that provides anesthesia of the medial quadrants of the breast. The original approach provided injections in the fascial plane between the pectoral major and external intercostal muscles. We observed that this technique might limit an adequate diffusion of the injectate due to the anatomical convexity of the ribs, which might hinder fascial hydrodissection.

Acute and acute-on-chronic liver failure is a cause of death in patients suffering from viral hepatitis, and many cases need liver transplantation. Infection from hepatitis B virus may range from asymptomatic to severe acute and fulminant hepatitis. In this setting, treatment is mainly supportive as there is no consensus on antiviral therapy based on non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors.

The incidence of chronic non-communicable diseases (CNCDs) increases with age, thus placing a burden on individuals and healthcare systems; furthermore, CNCDs are associated with lower quality of life (QoL) in the elderly. This study aimed to evaluate the behavioural management of CNCDs by comparing different diseases under its ambit exhibiting various side effects, as well as vascular, gastrointestinal, and other chronic diseases, simultaneously analysing self-care efficacy and emotional dimensions (i.e.

Bowel obstruction is an important cause of morbidity and mortality, accounting for nearly 30,000 deaths and more than $3 billion per year in direct medical costs. Small bowel obstruction (SBO) is caused mainly by postoperative adhesions. Adhesive small bowel obstruction (ASBO) is one of the leading causes of surgical emergencies and in particular of surgical emergencies that require an emergent operation.

One of the most frequent surgeries performed across the world is an inguinal hernia repair, with at least twenty million people undergoing this procedure each year. The prevalence of groin hernia, defined as projections of adipose tissue or viscera through the femoral or inguinal canal, is 3-6% for women and 27-43% for men. Obstruction of the small bowel is one of the most frequent reasons for a strangulated hernia.

Background: Acute T-cell mediated rejection (aTCMR) is still an issue in kidney transplantation, for it is associated with chronic rejection, graft loss, and overall worse outcomes. For these reasons, a standard non-invasive molecular tool to detect is desirable to offer a simpler monitoring of kidney transplant recipients (KTRs). The purpose of our study was to examine, in peripheral blood before and after transplantation, the expression patterns of regulatory T cell (Treg)-related genes: the forkhead box P3 (FOXP3) and the two CTLA-4 isoforms (full-length and soluble) to predict acute rejection onset, de novo donor-specific antibodies (DSA) development and renal dysfunction 1 year after transplantation.
