Objectives: Elderly hospitalized patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) flare and concurrent Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI) are considered at high risk of IBD-related complications. We aimed to evaluate the short, intermediate, and long-term post-discharge complications among these patients.

Methods: A retrospective multicenter cohort study assessing outcomes of elderly individuals (≥60 years) hospitalized for an IBD flare who were tested for CDI (either positive or negative) and discharged.

Purpose: Total hip arthroplasty (THA) is the gold standard in the treatment of advanced hip osteoarthritis. However, hip resurfacing (HR) arthroplasty may present a viable alternative. The aim of this study was to compare complications, implant survivorship, and functional outcomes between HR and THA, to assess HR as a valid and safe alternative to THA.

Objective: To explore the impact of different MSISQ-19 cut-offs on SD prevalence and associated risk factors, providing relevant information for its application in research and clinical settings.

Influence of posterior tibial slope on postoperative outcomes after postero-stabilized and condylar-stabilized total knee arthroplasty.

Methods: 168 patients undergoing TKA surgery between 2016 and 2020 met our inclusion criteria. For each case, gender, age at surgery, operating time, type of implant and preoperative PTS(preop-PTS) and postoperative PTS(postop-PTS) measurements were collected; difference(∆PTS) between preop-PTS and postop-PTS was also calculated.

Disease-Modifying Drugs and Breastfeeding in Multiple Sclerosis: A Narrative Literature Review.

Pregnancy-related issues in women with multiple sclerosis (MS) have been receiving increasing attention, with particular interest for the use of disease-modifying therapies (DMTs) before conception, during pregnancy, and postpartum, including breastfeeding. The risk of relapse is higher in the early postpartum period, especially in cases of significant disease activity prior to pregnancy, and thus treatment resumption and/or switching strategies might be necessary. Moreover, breastfeeding provides unmatched health benefits for babies and mothers, and is recommended as the best source of nutrition for infants.

Incidence, Characteristics, and Management of Patients with Recurrent Myocardial Infarctions: Insights from the EYESHOT POST-MI.

Background: It is unknown whether patients who survived two or multiple episodes of myocardial infarction (MI) present different clinical characteristics and management than patients at their first MI.

Methods: The EYESHOT post-MI was a prospective, observational, nationwide study aimed to evaluate the management of patients presenting to cardiologists 1 to 3 years from the last MI event. In 3 months of enrolment, 165 Italian cardiology centers included 1633 consecutive post-MI patients.

These issues were assessed in our multicenter study, including a cohort of 56 IBD patients with incident CRC.
